I'm a February filer, and I've also been following this forum for some time as well, and I just decided to join. My husband is a USC. I'm in Bklyn NY, and this is my timeline

2/05/10 - Sent AOS package (I485, I130, I 765, I 693, etc etc) to Chicago Lockbox

2/11/10 - Arrived in Chicago (not sure why it took so long, sent it express)

2/18/10 - 3 NOAs

2/23/10 - Biometrics for 03/09/10

03/09/10 - Biometrics completed

03/10/10 - Touches I 485, I 765

04/12/10 - Request for Initial Interview on 05/13/10 at 1:00 pm

The thing is though, usually NYC filers are requested to appear at Federal Plaza in Manhattan; however, the request in asking us to appear at some place in Garden City, Long Island. Is there anyone else from New York city who has been asked to appear at this location? Or is there anyone else in GENERAL, who has been asked to appear at a location other than the usual location for people in their area?

Got my interview letter!

May 12th.

Question - do we really need to bring my wife's birth certificate? She's the US citizen.. she has her passport but has no idea where the BC is.

Also, it's saying I need to bring certified copies of our marriage certificate.. but I sent original certified copies in with the initial package. Do I really have to go and get MORE original certified copies from the court?

Also it says to bring "All Documentation establishing your eligibility for lawful permanent resident status"

What does that even mean? heh

Oh btw, based on my earlier post. It really doesn't matter where we are requested to appear. We will appear, LW. Just wanted to know.

I'm trying very hard not to get discouraged but it's getting difficult to stay optimistic!

If you entered on a K-1 visa:

1. your I-129F approval notice

2. Form I-94

3. marriage certificate

(according to the I-485 instructions - look under # 15. Evidence of Eligibility)

If your eligibility is based on marriage to your K-1 petitioner, that means:

1. your I-129F approval notice

2. Form I-94

3. marriage certificate

No it's just based on Marriage. I was a TN Visa Holder (I-94) and got married, so I'll just bring my I-94 and my marriage certificate.

Any idea if it really needs to be certified? I sent certified copies w/ the package.. seems silly to have to go to the court and pay for even more certified copies of things

Hi candhan,

I was also a NYC filer that was asked to appear in Garden City (4 years ago). The only time I was asked to go to Federal plaza was for my naturalization interview last year. Hope that answers your question.

Still waiting.. *sigh* still nothing going on with my case... interview is next Tuesday though; so not too much longer to wait!!!!!! Any one know how long after you interview you are able to work (Still no EAD)??? I have a job offer and need to start asap... any clues??

Congrats to everyone else receiving EADs & interview dates.. think we're pretty much sorted for interview thankfully - jeez so much paperwork floating around!!!

If you can get the stamp, ASAP, otherwise not until you get the greencard in the mail.
