I'd just go there and try. Be there 45 minutes before they open as a line will form. I don't think they'll tell you to go home when you're in line right in the morning.

Ugh, I might not get mine in this week. We have to go find a single piece of paper to prove my husband's relationship to his dad for the support thing and we have no clue where it could be.

I believe you are considered "pending AOS" after your package is received by USCIS and they sent you an NOA1 (Receipt Notice) documenting that your case is pending.

Submission alone is not enough, as you won't be pending AOS if, for example, you miss a signature on a form or didn't pay the right amount. That will cause them to send the entire package back to you (I don't think they deny outright). Either way, you'll want the NOA1.

I put my married name in the AOS applications so my green card comes with my married name.

I guess that's considered name change... that I know of.

I think changing your state drivers licence name too is another name change.

most states it happens on the marriage certificate as well, you put what the old name was and what the new one will be. Some states they don't do this but a name change is done with the marriage certificate at the SSN office. Eitherwise you might need to do an actuall official change of name request through the courts (not sure exactly how it works) to have paperwork showing your name is now different to get the other things updated.

Well, just for those who are like me and have problems with fine print... I sent out my i-765 on an outdated form, ahhh, what a dumb thing to do....

so had to resubmit it again, no big deal but still unpleasant Now, waiting for my NOA for that application....

Completed my Biometrics this morning (Walk-In)... they didn't even mention the fact that my regular appointment is two weeks out

@Vegabond: Biometrics is the step where USCIS takes your picture and fingerprints for the EAD and Green Card. It's usually the last step before they issue work authorization and give you your interview notice (if you have an interview). And we're all happy because things are moving smoothly so far (knock on wood!)

They did not allowed us a name change until the AOS is complete. So i don't really know what to do

If they don't let you change her name with the marriage certificate (or you didnt do it) you will need to do an official change of name through the courts.

If you did do it on the marriage certificate when you did it, then you dont have to worry about anything, her name is changed, and you just use the marriage certificate as proof when you are getting all her documentation or to update stuff you might already have (SSN etc). A few of the sites I looked at said that the name change happens on the Marriage certificate in WI.

Now if you mean that the SSN office wouldnt let you update it until your AOS is done, they are wrong...theres a memo somewhere on VJ about this. The card can certainly be updated with your married name before AOS is complete, I did it just last week. If your I-94 is almost expired though they might not let you do it because of that, but when you get EAD or something you should be able to go update it then.

AOS package arrived at the 3rd floor in Chicago 2/10 and I received an email from Do_Not_Reply_Lockbox that my applications were received today 2/17.

The emails included case numbers but it suggests not checking them until NOA is received.

So far so good.

Okay, we're going to attempt this tomorrow morning. The office is only a couple of miles from where we live. Info on the web site says that walk-ins are acceptable for military members, but doesn't say that is the ONLY exception. If questioned, I think we'll try the excuse that on the date of the appointment there is a chance she will be out of town, so we thought we'd try to squeeze in earlier.

Hi all...back at work today...blegh...lol!

Have a question....We sent our package last Friday (12th) and I included the form to be notified via email but we haven't received anything as of yet. Did anyone else that included that form have to wait for a while to hear from them?
