That sucks Fatima, I know here in CA I could have changed my middle name if I wanted to. Sounds like a hassle for you!

God, I love Michigan but I really wish they had the same state laws as CA!!! At least when it comes to changing your name after marriage @_@ I read that Minnesota allows you to change your whole name too... gaaah!

That's really a Philippine naming convention? I thought Americans also follow this tradition.

Geez, I'm learning something new everyday... Thanks, Fatima.

haha! You're welcome!

I wish Americans followed it too - it actually makes more sense. You'd be able to trace your ancestry ;)

What is more complicated is for those people who have second names. Coming from the Philippines, almost everyone there has a second name. And I learned that here in US the second name is their middle name, and NOT the maiden name. (what can be more complicated than that! True enough, my husband's middle name is different from his mother's maiden name.

I realized, the important names are just our FIRST AND LAST NAMES then. So if they approve the application (hopefully), we can just write the first and last name (husband's last name) then done.

Let's simplify life! LOL!

Oh that's one more thing! Unless I specifically tell someone that I have TWO first names and that's what's on my birth certificate, they put my second name as my middle name and drop my middle name (father's last name) OR they put both names as my first name and put my middle name (father's last name) as part of my last name so I end up with NO middle name. @_@

I filled out our Report of Marriage Contracted Abroad form for the Philippine Consulate General and on the form it specifically asks for "husband's mother's maiden name" so I happily told my husband that his official Philippine name includes his mother's maiden name. He had the same look on his face that I did when that lady at the ASC told me that I should've followed the American naming convention. It was hilarious!

Gee,l I was feeling so rejected in this forum.. have not had any activity on my submissions.. finally, someone decided to dust the files. Activity today on my wife's I-485 and I-765, possibly due to biometrics processed yesterday..

More than likely :D If it makes you feel better, I haven't gotten any touches or anything either.

This sucks.. but I am leaving base on my new principals.. as I don’t want to continue checking the system every 5 minutes as I get too paranoid.. however, Paranoia is just another skill for the secret to longevity..

And maybe, i may feel a little better now Danu,:hehe:

Tell me about it. I'm so happy to hear of everyone elses transfers and interviews but a little part of me is going "am I next? How about me? Now? Please?". Our fellow Santa Ana filer Shanh still hasn't gotten their interview letter either and their a few weeks ahead of me so I keep hoping they will get it so I can be like "ooooh me next!" I want to start working....or specifically I want my EAD so I can get my cali licence and register my car cuz I don't like driving around on Canadian License/Plates.

And yes, the guard told me I had until 3pm when I forgot my marriage license at home (dont do that ) and not to rush....though we did anyway lol

That sucks Fatima, I know here in CA I could have changed my middle name if I wanted to. Sounds like a hassle for you!

Yeah I'm a bit distressed by the fact that Santa Ana seems to be so slow ...

It's already a bummer that we are excluded from the chance of a CSC transfer just because we reside in CA :/

Btw Danu we're only a week apart :)

Oh and what did you mean by in CA we can change our middle name?

Because we don't have one in Belgium but I have multiple given names that the immigration officer added as middle names to my biometrics letter without asking me first ..

Congrats on all with good news and I hope John's biometrics went fine with a nice guard :P

*hugs*!!

For the middle name thing, when I got married the certificate gave me the option to change my middle name if I wanted to. BTW anything that they write on your bio letter doesn't really matter, they put my whole maiden name down on it too, just shows they verified your doccuments. As you keep the reciept for it there shouldn't have been anything changed to your file.

Cammie!! What happened?? You should be back by now!!!!

I didn't even realize we are so close. Our NOA's are only 2 days apart and our deliveries only 5 days.....we could end up with interviews at the same time! OMG!!

Lol, you should have gone first thing this morning!

I thought about that, but we caught so much hellsfire for showing up before our scheduled appointment last time that I didn't want to risk getting turned away, risk getting arrested for putting my foot up security's aspirin (see VJ mods, I'm keepin' it real!), and then having to return a couple of hours later to wait the 2.5 hours. Argh. Grumble. Donuts.

My English muffin and I are home now and staaaarving. My boss just gave me the rest of the day off, and I don't have to count it as paid time, so that was nice of her. Hope there's good news for our Feb. fam today, we've got our Bio out of the way now, so that's something? LOL.
