Hello All -

It seems my check was posted on the "17th", the very next day after they received the package. I did not expect it to happen that fast but deeply hoped that it would happen that way :) Now just waiting for the NOA - it seems it might be here soon .

Great !

It depends on your bank. Some banks try to show higher quality of service, so they end up working things electronically and then they verify later on.

v333k,

So you think that USCIS will wait to send out NOA until after the verification from the bank? The check was through Chase Bank and the posting date is the 17th.

I think they at least make sure it clears initially before they mail it. Although, I think the letter will be dated the same or next day from the check cashing. Check the envelop and see what the post mark date on it is?

I wouldn't worry at this point. If the check is cashed, then you are extended 1 year.

Does that mean that if the check is cashed you can make an infopass and get the passport stamped to receive the extension? My GC and drivers license expires next Saturday. (Stupid to send it in this late - I know). I'd really like to be able to get my driver's license renewed next week but I can't do that without the NOA or some other means of showing that I'm authorized to be in the U.S.

Hey Dave and Helena -

You are authorized. I believe normally USCIS prefers that the applicant wait around 30 days to go get the stamp in case the NOA is late/missing. However, that option is on the table and to be honest there is no harm in setting up an info pass and requesting the stamp. Worst they will do is ask you to come back after the 30 day window is over since the check is cashed.

Thanks!

True - they prefer for us to wait some time before getting all this information. Check your state DMV and see what documents they accept. Sometimes, they do say that I-797 or NOA is accepted and sometimes they don't.
