Pentagon to rank global warming as destabilising force

I don't care how the US spells destabilising, these are articles published in UK newspapers.

I'm glad to see so many swimming against the tide. How do you explain the observable phenomena, exactly? The acidification of the oceans for example. That's not a theory it's fact.

The planet is not a static system. However, there are "natural" processes that eclipse man's efforts to either control, or alter them. "Nature" always wins in the end. We are like fleas biting a dog on a runaway train.

Balderdash. Humans have altered their landscape for centuries - we have devastated eco systems before. Deforestation is the obvious one that springs to mind. Of course, 'nature' will always 'win' in the sense that the planet really doesn't care what is alive - if anything - but a human inhabitable environment is not something we should shrug our shoulders about and suggest that we can't alter/adapt or improve it, we most certainly can - within limits of course.

Guess we could try to start a new science that could maybe stop natural disasters like volcanoes that dump a lot of crud in the atmosphere. Or even stop earthquakes from happening that just disrupts the soil and probably helps dump crud in the sea. Even hurricanes probably gather up and releases crud from one place to another so we could try to stop that stuff.Who knows what junk we are capturing from our travel throw space that could be dumping crud onto us. We could maybe make a shield that stops it or a huge filter to capture it. That would give a reason for NASA to exist. Maybe we could figure out a way to reverse the periodic ice to warm ages that have always happened to our planet and will probably do so forever. I mean a majority of scientists have said this global warming is a bunk science.

You think NASA is a stupid waste of resources as well? Do you think it's worth investigating anything outside of your personal experience?

I also read about these vents in the ocean floor that is spewing a many tons of sulphur and other things into the ocean and that gets mixed with other gasses and creates acids and what not. Maybe we can manufacture these huge plugs and send them down and plug the vents. This should save a lot of crud being spewed into such a fragile ecosystem. Maybe if we built plugs big enough and pound them into the volcanoes that would stop them form exploding and that would reduce a lot of crud being ejected into the atmosphere. I read that volcanoes may cause a lot of crud that helps in that global warming everyone is so scared of so this would help I am sure.

Maybe there is a way we can mitigate earthquakes. At the faultlines we can maybe inject liquid silicon and maybe that would make the slippage go easier and that maybe can be good instead of the friction being built up and then released all at once. This way we can be sure that any earthquake will not be severe and not cause any disturbance that may eject crud into the sea or atmosphere that would maybe accelerate this global warming that everyone is so worried about that the media and the politicians are screaming about.

You can't attack a stupid idea without taking it seriously. If it was intended seriously (which I kinda doubt) then the guy would indeed be stupid for suggesting it.

As it is, the idea is certainly stupid - but it doesn't work even on a humorous level. Its trite.

"Debating" GW isn't possible on this site, because all people do is throw out inane garbage - like the post I responded to.

Ok, what are the other destabilizing forces out there according to Pentagon planners? My guess is they plan for all kinds of contingencies.

I have ideas on how we can involve the military in helping us stop these natural phenomenal from harming us and possibly even slowing global warming.

Now hurricanes are a serious problem indeed and cause much crud to be ejected into the atmosphere. Crud that can maybe even accelerate global warming. I think that hurricanes are too large for just our military but if we enlist the United Nations on the war against Global warming then maybe we have a fighting chance.

How about we take every aircraft of every military in the world or at least that belongs to the United Nations and fly them in the opposite directions that the Hurricane is spinning? Wouldn't this maybe slow it down a bit? Maybe if we put on a little chute on each aircraft we can magnify the effect. This could potentially slow it down and then I am thinking it might splinter into seperate storms of less intensity that could be good as it would then give us rain for our crops. If anything it would lessen the crud being ejected into the atmosphere.

Yep. You can't convince a conspiracy theorist that they are factually wrong because facts are never that important to them.

Of course they do. Destabilising forces can be things like political upheaval, famine, disease, natural disasters. All these are contributory factors that determine how troops might be deployed and as planning is a major determinator of success of any military strategy, planning for all kinds of 'destabilising' forces is necessarily of prime importance.
