Well i called the manila consulate to see what it would take to transfer the case from MTL to their center. The lady said 2 months. Wow, it takes 2 months to transfer a document in the mail?

Now, we are stuck using the busted Montreal center. We haven't even received our 3rd packet. That means we are literally sitting in limbo, and each day that passes pushes our interview further and further. I am US Military and i bumped a deployment for this, not knowing that Montreal lacked in urgency on peoples lives. Now, i will deploy right in the middle of her interview/approval decision. This is not good for us.

Can't you ask them to expedite your interview? I met Abby of TheWhites on my interview day, and her application and interview was expedited in Montreal because her husband was deploying shortly.

Can't hurt to ask.

Every person petitioning for a fiance(e) or spouse is just as impatient as you are. Being in the military I am sure you are used to policies and procedures. USCIS operates in the same manner. So it is not as simple as someone immediately taking your file and overnighting it to another Consulate.

Are you aware of the Military Help Line at USCIS? They can help you and your fiancee. And in some cases expidite cases when persons are deploying. 877-247-4645

By no means am i asking for special treatment, but i am indeed deploying soon, and had hoped this would not happen.

There's a reason why soon to deploy military get special treatment. You're serving your country and without mincing words, who knows what could happen on deployment.

Honestly, I would seriously challenge anyone who complains about military expediting. Given the choice between waiting a couple of extra months away from my fiance, but knowing that he's not literally risking life and limb on a daily basis, or having him still in active service, I'd opt for the waiting every time.

Thank you for your service (even if it's not my country yet!) and get her over to you before you deploy

I agree with the posters here. There are special circumstances to being in the military. Use them. It's amazing when I've seen the time line of such. Hope it all goes through fast for you.

Thank you. I have worked with a few UK troops/Personnel. Hard to understand their english haha.

I'm sure a call to expedite it, and emailing your deployment papers to Montreal will result in you getting a much faster interview appointment! Hurry!

I emailed them to ask. Thank you. The problem may be that we dont actually receive our specific military deployment orders until a few days before the deployment. I am in a special unit that does not rotate on a certain schedule. We go when we are needed, which is at a minimum, once a year. This may pose a problem. I might have to get my leadership to produce me a letter stating when i will be deploying.

LOL - I'm sure the sentiment is mutual ;)

You won't be the first in your situation and I'm sure the military help line can advise you of what you need considering your circumstances.

Good Grief, Charlie Brown, why didn't you apply for expedited processing to begin with?

GoodGrief.jpg

Because my deployment was originally late Feb. We filed in October. Approved in Jan, but unaware we had to use MTL until last week. Also unaware of its 2 months minimum wait time. We thought we were getting Vancouver. I bumped this deployment to May, but only a 1 time deal. I bumped it BEFORE i knew MTL was 2 months. I shot myself in the foot because there was no reversing it at that point. I sent MTL an email yesterday asking about expediting it. No response yet, but i guess thats normal.

If you don't have the offical orders then you should ask your commander to write you a letter that states your name, job, start date, and projected deployment date, if you don't have a date, you could always state, ''__________ is expected to deploy at any time in 2010.'' Or so, good luck!
