I was watching the republican guy who seems to be everywhere on meet the press. He's seems to believe buying across state lines is the missing link. Great idea but unfortunately I don't get to decide who my employer uses. I am at the mercy of my employer, therefore, buying across state lines does squat for me and most other folks.

Come on ladies.... those dishes aren't gonna wash themselves.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

what?

the only vote going on is in the House and Senate -

so I think the 'suggestion' should be more specific, a more targeted demographic, yes?

Specifically the spouses and paramours of the folksen in the House and Senate ?

It'd be a fun letter writing campaign, you betcha !!!

address it to The Mrs, at the local office, asking her to with hold sexual favors or the marital bed :D until the spouse voted in favor of Obamacare :D

Yum !

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Thank God for immigration and being able to marry young babes that come from Communist countries where they hate Socialists.

I think you need to travel more...many love the idea of Socialism over there... young and old.

Yes, buying across state lines is not the end all solution. But it is an important step. I also agree that we would be a lot better off if people made their health insurance choices, not their employers. But that is something that the government is controlling as well.

However, employers really do try to get the best deal for their employees. They would rather have a better health care package for less cost. If buying across state lines will create competition that gives employers better options, and I believe it will, health coverage will improve for the vast majority of Americans who receive health care from their employers.

They want you to 'get educated' but then push their own agenda. Of course when you put the health care debate like they did, like most supporters do....(in unrealistic, generic terms that this reform isn't even going to accomplish)....it just makes me sick. EDUCATE YOURSELVES, that much I agree with....the rest....pied piper music, nothing more.

The better health care system, which is also run at a lower cost, is a public/private system. Much like my cable company, the majority of private insurance companies and hospitals in America are out there to make a profit. They are not interested in providing the best health care or at the lowest price and cost price. As such, they will only approve procedures that are the cheapest to do. Furthermore, my experience with the US health care system illustrates that private services here are way overpriced and do not deliver anywhere near the value they are charging. For any serious procedure, I would be on the first plane back to Aus, as at least I wouldn't have to worry about claims being denied due to technicalities or any other shenanigans. I guess to those who beat on about how awesome the status quo is, people from other first world countries choosing to go back home for treatment means squat to them.

The truth is that in the majority of America, one or two providers dominate the state.

Doesn't that support the claim that we should allow selling across state lines? Then there would be a minimum of 50 plans in any state. The fact is, right now employers don't really have much of a choice, as you pointed out.

It's funny these same people who wouldn't want the Government choosing what movies they watch on Netflix will trust them to make all these healthcare decisions.
