For the last two years I've worked as a contractor. Would 1099 statements and bank statements be sufficient?

For the I-134 you need a letter from your employer (how long you've been there, what your position is (full time, part time etc), and how much you earn), bank statements (showing the date the account was opened, and deposits for the last year, and current balance). If you want to include 1099's it's not required but I don't think it could hurt. IRS transcripts would be good. Just follow the form's instructions and you won't have a problem as long as you're over the 125% of the poverty line for your household size.

"A contractor" equals "self-employed", which means at least one tax return is required and that the income they will consider will appear on line 22 of the 1040. All references to employer and employment are useless. If line 22 doesn't meet the minimum requirements, get a co-sponsor.

A co-sponsor doesn't work at every Consulate, so the OP needs to fill in their profile.

To answer the OP directly, no 1099's and bank statements alone are not sufficient. Self-employed needs at least one tax return. Your question indicates you have not carefully studied the instructions for the I-134. Careful study of form instructions will be critical to your ultimate success.
