Hubbie complained how terribly uncomfortable that bed was... lol... i was like I just had a baby and u r complaining about the dad-bed?!

Yeah, Justin complained that HE was tired! WTH??

Men! They ARE made of marshmallow fluff  (Thanks Lisa for that awesome phrase!!)

and did I mention my MIL had to buy a new car the day after I delivered, and so she "needed" Justin's assistance? Like, don't mind me, I'm only still at the hospital recovering from birth AND surgery

:bonk:

Is it a vascular headache (migraine type)? I've had several of those and had decent luck w/ Tylenol & caffeine (Tylenol typically doesn't do much for me either. I miss ibuprofen!). I also got a prescription for Fioricet, although it made me sick to my stomach. Fioricet seems to be the migraine drug of choice for pregnant ladies, although it is Category C. My OB said it's fine, though, just to take it sparingly.

thanks I will try the caffeine and tylenol combo and talk to my midwife next time I see her. It's definitely very migraine-nish. I was in bed for almost 3 days while in Germany with that headache, it was so bad. Now I've had it for 2 days and Ben is so jetlagged, he fell asleep after lunch yesterday and woke up ready to play around midnight. I was up with him all night, I'm a zombie.. haha. Ibuprofen also worked best for any headaches for me before I was pregnant.

Anna: hope you feel better, have a safe flight and lots of fun in Germany! Despite all the family drama, I miss it already... Maybe you can get a nasal spray that may help you get over the flight?

HappyBunny: all the best for a smooth delivery! I'm glad you got a nice hospital. My hospital has the same set up, all single rooms, a tub in each room and you will stay in the room where you deliver until you're discharged.

Hey everyone, I thought the 'dad bed' was something special! lolz. I was figuring it'd be the ole 2 patients in a room, nursery down the hall type thing, hahahaah. Didn't realize it's now standard to have a private room. But my friend's daughter just gave birth there, and my friend stayed overnight...she said the dad bed was very comfy, so hopefully Scott agrees.

I was initially going to deliver at Winnie Palmer hospital in orlando. It was REALLY swish, and runs like a well-oiled machine. I went there for a few appts and it was unreal how it seemed more like a hotel than a hospital. They even give out those buzzer things to let you know when your appt is ready. Concierge service, robes, all the workers in the lobby in tan suits...the lot.

Here's a tour:

But then we just moved a little bit away, so it's not my closest hospital anymore. Poo!

They also had this 'boutique maternity hospital' in Winter Park which boasted things like massage and all sorts of spa services. Heh, I wonder how much something like THAT would cost.

Have you ever tried accupressure? It was one of the things which alleviated some of the severity of my headaches back when I was sick, actually, even now. On either side of the bridge of your nose by your eyesockets, lightly press with your thumbs in that area. I should try to find some directions online so that you know exactly where I'm talking about, heh. Lemme see what I can find.

ok, first of all, I just found this: the 2nd one never works for me, but the first one looks promising.

http://www.chinese-holistic-health-exercises.com/acupressure-for-relieving-headaches.html

But this is what I was talking about:

Here's where it's located:

Of course, talk with your doc or midwife to confirm it's ok. Hope it helps!

Stef, my headaches got a MILLION times better since my massage last week. Ive only had 1 headache in a 7 day span now as opposed to 4 or 5. Maybe look into a prenatal massage in your area?

So excited to almost be 20 weeks! (about 2 weeks to go or so) On the 14th I have my anatomy ultrasound and it is also hubbys birthday, so the 3 of us will see the doctor and US tech then go out and celebrate! yay

Good luck on monday Happy Bunny. Cant wait to see the new baby corner addition!

Have a good and safe trip Anna, hope all goes well!

We won't leave til 11:30am our time, and then I hope no delays... I should arrive in Chicago and basically jump off the plane to run to the next gate, but they should know that and I will talk to them about it too. In our case, they actually must let us de-board first, we have a one hour layover only, which means within 30 minutes of arriving boarding should start. But they are accustomed to such situations, so I don't worry too much. Worst case they have to pay for a night in a hotel and food vouchers and I fly a day later (if I get stuck in Chicago)...

I had one pregnancy induced migraine, the whole nine yards, with numbness, aura, vision disturbances and then the headache. For normal headaches it helps if I put my knuckles against my temples, literally resting my head on my fist. The bones are just in the right place for the pressure points.

Good luck, hope you have a great and safe flight, and all goes well with the connecting flight.

IF you do get stuck in Chi, you MUSTMUSTMUST go eat at Kuma's corner. I saw it on 'diners drive ins and dives' and I literally wanna plan a trip to Chi JUST to eat this burger called the 'Lari of the Minotaur', lol.

This week, the burger's been on my mind too, hahaha. They explain the LoM burger at the end of this cip....

thank you all for the advice! A massage sounds just right! :P I just sent the hubby and Ben to starbucks to get me a coffee with an extra shot and as soon as they left the hospital called to set up an inbterview for next week! All of a sudden I am awake, I don't care about the headache and I am excited like a little kid! :D

I have a question to the american mommies here, I know I will not be able to hide the pregnancy much longer and that it may be very tough for me to keep the job. I will have to go through at least 6 weeks of orientation etc, do you guys think it would be smart to mention the pregnancy right away or wait? When did you all tell your boss about your pregnancies?

It was such a bumpy road for me to get my RN license in the US and I worked so hard for it, I really feel that I can definitely do part time or per diem and then come back shortly after I give birth while still doing the right thing for my family.

Argghh i'm going bonkers, the cheapo Cosco Scenera will not get tight in a rear facing position, neither with latch nor seatbelts. I'm pretty good at installing car seats, but this thing is not meant to be rearfacing. Forward facing it installs fine, but rearfacing - no way! There is 5 inches of leeway in all directions even you pull the latch belts super tight!!!! Now I have to take the Britax Boulevard with me... And 40 bucks for nothing! I think we shuld take it back to Walmart since it doesn't work as advertised.

don't return it! I had the same problem with that seat the first time we went to Germany but hubby somehow managed to install it very tight. Last year and this year I was on my own and I had a hard time getting it tight with just the seatbelts but forward facing it worked great with latch/isofix! It's a very simple carseat but I just read in consumer reports that it is along with the Britax the number one seat with the best crash test performance. If you really really don't want him forward facing then save it for next year or so because eventually he will be forward facing anyways..

Ben needed a day or 2 to get used to it but he realized very fast that he had way more legroom and that he could see me better while driving. And we just totaled my car and aside from a few bruises he was absolutely fine forward facing.

I think I'll take it back, I can always buy it when we will need it - especially since Target came out with a Scenera with side impact protection. I'm taking the Britax now, Jona hates forward facing and I'm not comfortable with it either for safety reasons. If it breaks, then it breaks and we'll have to buy the Radian I wanted anyways (it is actually cheaper than the Britax, only $240, but has a steel alloy frame instead of plastic and rearfaces up to 45 pounds instead of 35 pounds). I'm just pretty mad that this thing supposedly works rearfacing, but then it doesn't arggh.

Hi Ladies!!

It's been a very fast 11 weeks of my life I'm going back to work (a week early) next week. Sam is so adorable now he is smiling and laughing and trying to grab stuff.. he's also sleep at least 6 hrs straight at night (since 9 weeks old) and just florish! He's been to the daycare a few days a week and he's fine so I wont worry about that but it's the seperation that is going to make me sad. I also got a waiver for Sam to sleep on his stomach at the daycare and he's a lot happier there now. He is gigantic though.. weigh 15 lbs 7 oz (98%) and 24 inches long (90%) he's very strong.

I'm going to take him to Thailand in December and he will be 6 months by then. His cousin was just born this Tuesday and he will be 3-4 months by the time I go and they can meet. I'm wondering though, when you go oversea, do you carry your own car seat? I dont think there's a car seat rule in Thailand and we will be using a lot of taxi I dont if I will get to use the car seat at all. Is there anything like a carseat for traveling infant? I plan on just holding him in the taxi, I know it's not the safest thing but i dont really know what to do. ideas?
