@ Kelly: I feel like that too. And I have been peeing like crazy for weeks now. I knew I was pregnant when it started, and that was about 3 days before the test turned positive (at 7 days past ovulation/conception). It's pretty annoying especially at night! I'm in bed and like nooooo I wanna sleep, I don't want to get up, but the pressure on my bladder is painful. This kiddo really must be hugging the bladder or something... So not fun!

Hey everyone :) Hope all the mommies and kiddos are doing well. We are on holiday in British Columbia right now. I have to say, portable DVD players are THE BEST THING EVER. It saved our sanity on the flight from Montreal to Comox. Declan is having a blast with all of my husband's family. We're planning on going to Victoria for a day and maybe whale watching too. Loving this vacation, except that the Internet connection at my MIL's is ####### and superslow. Oh well.

Sounds like so much fun Karen! Have a great vacation!

All is not so well here, :(

Went to the doctor today because the bladder pressure was unbearable. They took urine samples and prescribed me a antibiotic for a UTI. They dont even know if I have one yet but said with my symptoms it sounds best to treat it. Im pretty sure it is. It doesnt burn when urinating but I have the back pain and pressure. I have my regular checkup monday (15 weeks yay!) so I guess that will tell us if everything else looks good.

Oh I scheduled my 3d ultrasound for the 23rd to find out the gender! Hubby is SUPER excited as am I. I cannot wait for Zaid to see his little brother or sister that he has been talking to and kissing the past 10 weeks!

haha! we will be back soon! And I will probably be online a few times because I have to skype with my hubby, he couldn't come with us this time... I had my 12 week sonogram today, it was amazing how much the baby has grown. Everything looks perfect, baby now measures too big, so it will probably be a february baby after all. I am so excited. I am enjoying this pregnancy so much more, with Ben I was just in shock and it felt weird for the first couple of months. I feel pretty good too, hardly any nausea and I didn't gain much weight since the last prenatal visit. phew.

Kelly: wow you poor thing! Please make sure that you drink a lot!! Sometimes pregnant women with frequent UTIs get kidney stones later in the pregnancy especially when the baby gets bigger and there is pressure on the kidneys. So drink lots of water and I hope that you will feel better soon and get to enjoy the pregnancy more!! I'm going to have to check on facebook how your sonogram went and if it's a boy or girl! btw I think we are having another boy... I could be totally wrong but everything feels just like the pregnancy with Ben.

Karen: wow sounds like a lot of fun, I hope we get to go to Canada again soon, I love it. French Canada reminds me a lot of Europe. I wish Ben was into TV or movies we have a portable dvd but I think it would just be unnecessary extra weight. He gets distracted after 2 minutes... I hope I can entertain him with his toys and that he sleeps a lot. I'm really not looking forward to the flight.

Stef, great news! Cultures came back fine. I got off those awful antibiotics and now doc wants me to do a 7 day monistat. Much easier since the meds were making me sooo sick. My 15 week appt went well today. My blood pressure was slightly elevated but I chalked it up to a real bad day at work. Babys heartbeat was 140 and nice and easy to find. I havent gained 1lb since i got pregnant which Im super happy about.. I got my NT scan results and the scan combined with bloodwork put me at a 1:998 for Downs and 1:10,000 for Trisomy 18. Phew. I didnt think I had anything to worry about but I feel better after the results. I get blood work next week then the big US is September 14th!! Its my husbands birthday so I figured he and Zaid can come to the appt then we can all celebrate afterwards with dinner or something. YAY!

The 3d gender check is a week from today. Im so excited I can hardly wait.

Oh btw despite my bad day at work I got word that I am being recommended for a huge promotion and raise (lots more $$ a year) and I will know next week whether or not the VP of the bank approved it!! woohoo

I'll be online in Europe.... Have to skype with DH and check on my emails... I guess a day without internet is already quite horrible (the day on the plane!)....

@ Karen: Wow I wish Jona was into TV for trips... He couldn't care less and turns it off when it's on.... But he likes books a lot, and I hope since it is a redeye flight that he will sleep some.... I also got some rescue remedy and homeopathic calms forte, let's see how that works. ;)

@ Kelly: I'm glad your results are so reassuring... Too bad about the wasted antibiotics, they will even make a yeast infection worse. Have you tried to eat some probiotic yogurt or supplements to help your body ward off the yeast? My sister always tells me to not take antibiotics for a UTI until a culture confirms it's a bacteria and they know which antibiotic to use with it (the doctor). It usually comes back really fast (with my kidney infection it was less than 24 hours when I got the call). It stinks that it made you feel bad! Good luck for your promotion, that sounds promising!

We now have had visitors for a couple days, now it's Paul's grandma here and his mom and her boyfriend will join us on Thursday. With my crazy low blood pressure and the resulting tiredness it's sort of hard to entertain, like I feel bad for not being up to more. On Jona's birthday we'll celebrate and all go to a BBQ at hubbie's grad school to meet his professor and co-students, it's mandatory to go and they are cool with family, it will just be two hours in the late afternoon. Luckily the prof has young boys for Jona to play with!

I still feel baby growing like crazy, I wouldn't be surprised if next time my uterus measures like 4 weeks ahead! I have lost 9 lbs in the first weeks and now regained 2lbs back, which is great! I totally see a baby bump now... I have absolutely now intuition about baby's gender.... I'd like to have one of each, but I never am lucky with such wishes so I think we're having a boy (which is great too!!!, I don't mean to say it's like an unhappy thing or so). Several people are dead set on a girl because they already bought like girl outfits (MIL and my mom, SIL)... I haven't bought anything yet but a Didymos carrier :)

Congrats on the possible promotion Kelly!

Okay, I hate self-doagnosing myself but after suffering from horrible periods since age 11, I did some research and I am thinking I have endometriosis. I was 14 when my mom finally took me to the doctor and they did an ultrasound and said I have a cyst in my right ovary and that is what is causing the pain. But now it's unbearable. Evern before I start my period, I have symptoms that start 1.5 to 2 weeks before I get it. When I look at the symptoms for endo, that is exactly what I experience. What really sucks is that I have new insurance (kaiser) through my job and I can't even go to my regular gyn. I have to wait 2+ weeks to get a bloody appointment.

Hi, ladies

I'm succumbing to pressure to start a baby registry. What are people's thoughts on baby monitors? Our place isn't all that big. We live in a 2-bedroom condo, and the plan is to have the baby sleep in our room for the first couple of months, and then moving her to a crib in the second bedroom (also my office), which is on the other side of the apartment. My mother's friend thinks monitors are like, the best thing evah (everyone has an opinion!) and that we should put one on our registry. So...as long as someone else might get it for us--perhaps even my mother's aforementioned friend--why not? I've just been reading about them and am thinking a digital one might make the most sense to avoid interference from neighbors' wireless gadgets. Any brands or types that we should avoid?

Also...baby carriers. Help? The husband has taken a solemn vow that he'll never wear a frontal-type baby carrier. I don't have such strong feelings. I think he might consider a back one. I'm willing to try a sling thingy. Any thoughts?

In other news, I'm having a growth scan Aug. 20, recommended because of my "advanced maternal age." At that point, I'll be 31 weeks. My belly is measuring fine as of my last appointment, so I think it's just a precaution.

I hope everyone is well.

never really used my baby monitor, too much static, i'm glad i didn't pay for it. I used the angelcare monitor sensor under his matress for piece of mind. I was really paranoid about SIDS.

baby carrier i bought a sling, that i used like 5 times, i don't regret buying. then i bought a moby wrap, the video made it look like it was so easy to put on, but it would take forever and so difficult to adjust the baby to be in a confortable position, i got so frustrated i didn't want to use anymore. i regret buying. i though at first about buying a baby bjork, so many people would say don;'t do it, so i didn't. if it was today, i'd probably buy that one, i almost did when he was bigger since carrying his car seat with my chubby one was so heavy.

It's been the week from hell. First of all, Tuesday was the first day back at school for my students and I had to send Monday organizing my room. Well...Hana fell ill Saturday. She vomited 5 times that day. Sunday she woke up with a fever and a croupy cough. She did not get better over the course of the day, so Daddy stayed home with her Monday. I called a couple times during the day and he thought she was better. I walk in the door that evening and she looked like total hell. I managed to get her an emergency appt at 6:15pm. Well...because it was the day before school they were slammed and we sat for 1.5 hours in the waiting room! She had a 103.5F fever and they were worried about all her vomiting (she couldn't keep much down). They told me to try giving her small sips and bites and to come back tomorrow. So...Tuesday Daddy stays home again because it was the first day of school. He took Zak to daycare so he could get some attention and then we met up for Hana's 4:15pm appt. She was still running a fever and not eating much and occasionally throwing up. They almost sent us to the ER for fluids and anti-nausea drugs. They felt she had a sinus infection on top of everything and gave her a shot of antibiotics. Tuesday night Hell breaks loose as both of them were sick and just sat with me. Zak had such a bad croupy cough at 2:30 am I almost took him to the ER. We got an appt for both the next day. I took this day off. The DR finally felt confident after seeing both to say they had the croup. Hana's wasn't quite as bad, but she got a secondary sinus infection. All the phlegm was gagging her -- the reason for her vomiting. Besides the shot, she is on oral antibiotics for 3 more days. Zak had a moderate case of the croup and needed steroids to help reduce the inflammation and to make his breathing easier. Daddy stayed home with them on Thursday and all the did was sit on him and Zak whined the entire day. I am home with them today and Zak is still MISERABLE and whiney. I pray this is mostly resolved by Monday because my husband and I really will have a hard time taking more time off. :( Oh...and I am missing out on hanging with my sister who is here from VT this weekend. I am really sad about missing her and having miserable babies!

Haven't popped in here in a long time and I know I'm very late on chiming in, but thought I'd give my 2 cents.

We have a similar living arrangement I think. The monitor has been great - you can hear him when he's just stirring or starting to wake up, so I can run in and pat his back or replace his pacifier before he fully wakes up and then won't go back down again.

Regarding baby carriers. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Moby Wrap. I would highly recommend it. I was scared of it at first and didn't really use it until he could hold his head up and face outward. Now that I'm a pro at it, I would probably be able to use it with a newborn without trouble. I'll be learning the back carry soon and I'm sure I'll use it all the way to its 35 lb weight limit.

My FB profile pic is of me and Adam in his Moby.

Only 3 days til we have the gender ultrasound! Woot....I just know know know its a girl and I swear ill be 1 million percent shocked if it turns out to be a boy.

I took the day off work today, slept waay too late and have felt "off" the entire day. Also feeling kinda dizzy at times. I swear idk when I will learn that my body needs to stay on the exact same sleep schedule. 1030pm-530am. If i go to bed any earlier or sleep more than 30 mins later, I have headaches and pukiness the next day. blaaa...I managed to get up and semi clean my FILTHY (filthy is an exaggeration but in my eyes its a sty lol ) house. Makes me feel a tad better. I swear ive never been so unmotivated in my life. This pregnancy has definitly thrown me for a loop. I had MAJOR OCD when pregnant with Zaid.

Twila, hope the twins feel better soon. sick babies makes me so sad.

Jenn, your wrap looks like it takes so much skill. I dont know how comfortable I would be baby carrying. I was never hands on with Zaid (bad mom I know) I loved having a stroller. That way I could put the diaper bag in it, changing pad for when we were in public, bottle of water for me, my purse, etc. I guess it would be nice for at home for kids who needed to be held all the time but Zaid hated being held. He always wanted to be in his swing or laying on his activity mat. I do have a Chicco baby carrier my gran got me but I honestly have never even put it on.
