Congrats to all those pregnant!! :)

As for the illness some of the children have dealt with, I looked up hand, foot, mouth and it looks so painful. Oh my goodness, so sorry Ben had it and Zaid has it and anyone else who had it. :(

Took Hana to the ped yesterday. Her rash got some much worse and she was rubbing her ear non-stop. Dr thinks it was roseola (round 2 for us...that is what Zak had in January). And she had yet another ear infection in the same ear as almost a month ago. She is on antibiotics again and going back in 10 days for a recheck. I hope it is cleared up because we leave 7/12 on flights to Vermont (I have flown with sinuses congested before, it was HELL and I don't want her going through that).

Since she was feeling better today, we went to the local sea turtle rehab hospital. It was a hit with the twins. (And the best part...it was free!)

@ Kel: Jona was posterior too, but we got him to turn throughout labor. The nurse brought a birth ball and put it on the bed so I could be on all fourth but put my torso on the ball for support. It did make him turn, but not all the way, and he also left one arm in front of his face, but it definitely worked to turn him a little. I pushed too for 2.5 hours but I got him out that way without assisted delivery... Movement and position changing really helps and I'm glad we had a really nice nurse throughout labor (the postpartum one, ugh not so much). I hope i will make it to February, but I doubt it frankly. I think I'll have a January baby since my cervix just dilates early, but maybe I can keep baby in longer this time. That would be really nice!

Gosh I got spider bites and now have an allergic reaction to it. It is horrible, itchy all over, hives, and my eyes were swollen shut. Death to all spiders. They are ugly and dangerous. BAEH!!!! I will send Paul to Lowes today to buy really poisonous spider poison for the patio. like the biggest chemical club he can find please.

haha that sounds like you're on your 8th pregnancy Mrs Duggar. Maybe this time it'll be different and you will go past your due date and WISH you had him/her a little early. never know... OMG I have goose bumps just thinking about getting bit by a spider, I have absolute spider phobia. Just the thought of seeing one in my house is sheer terror, let alone getting bitten. aaarrrrrrrghhhh. We have a huge canister of bug spray (works for all bugs and spiders) in the mudroom and I religiuosly spray the doorstep every day. I'd rather take a disease from the chemicals than a spiderbite.

Mommies Ben is killing us, lately he takes over 2 hours to go to bed!!! One of us has to sit there with him or he will come out of his bed, run downstairs or just scream in panic, its a complete ordeal getting him to finally lay down and sleep. he is so restless and when we finally get him to sleep (only with threats, punishing etc) its always past 11pm this week. He never had trouble going to sleep, he still has issues staying asleep, but it never took him more than 5-10 minutes after I put him in his bed, now its a huge battle, I am at the end of my rope. Doesn't even work when hubby puts him to bed. Altogether he doesn't sleep more than 7-8 hours per night plus one 2 hour nap during the day, that can't be enough for a 2 year old. Any advice or experience? I am hoping it is just another (short short) stage lf toddlerhood, or maybe because he is super attached to us since the hospital stay? It started right after we came home with him. :( I am one tired mommy.

Karen: yeaaaahh now that the hubby is working on Nursing school, you guys have no more excuses!

Stef, we recently did some remodeling. Zaids room moved, as did ours. It has really affected Zaid, not something I expected. He refuses to sleep in his new room. So for the past 3 weeks he has been in bed with us. I always thought that letting a kid sleep in bed with you at this age makes you a "bad parent" but at this point im totally ok with it. If I take him to his bed, his lip trembles and he looks at me and says "nooooo mommy im scared, go to mommys bed" I know he could very well be pulling a fast one on me, but it breaks my heart.

Point is, YES any change will disrupt their sleep. Im sure Ben is scared to be away from you guys. And on the hours of sleep, Zaid takes a 1.5-2 hr nap a day and then sleeps about 8 hours a night. 8 is pretty much the average, some days its 10, others 7, so it sounds like Ben is sleeping enough.

@Stef: So sorry that Ben is giving you a tough time. Something seems to bother him but then again he had never been a big sleeper hasn't he? I hope it's just a phase. I"m sure you're doing everything in the book to get him to sleep so good advice is really needed and I don't have any since my kids are easy when it comes to going to sleep.

@Kelly: Adam still sleeps in our bed. I don't think it makes you a bad parent :). If a kid is scared in the middle of the night then why make them go back to their bed and have big drama unfold? Adam also was once scared of his closet door. It was white and I think one of the girls that lived in the room before and dumped something (nail polish remover or perfume or whatever) on the door, leaving a 'snake like' looking trail down the door. Adam would not sleep in his bed, he was so scared of that door. Back then he couldn't talk (must have been about Zaid's age) and he was just pointing to the door, crying. So one day I grabbed pale yellow leftover paint and painted the door. He hasn't cried about the door ever since .

Oh also...I must admit I 'bribe' Adam to go to bed sometimes (I wouldn't have to...he would go to bed without bribing too). I get those glowsticks that Walmart sells. They are three in one package for 1 Dollar and every night when he's in bed I give him one and he's just faszinated by bending it and shaking it. I don't give them to Allie as she might put them in her mouth but Adam is totally loving them.

thanks Evi and Kelly. It's just so frustrating. Ben ends up sleeping in our bed every night at some point too, but he is the kind of kid who mopes and spins around and steals blankets and sheets and we don't dare to move one inch because he could wake up. He sleeps better in our bed, but I really want him to learn to sleep in his own bed and we are all so sleep deprived. I worry that once we start letting him sleep in our bed completely then he will still sleep there when he is 12.

Do you have a foodboard? Adam sleeps upside down LOL. He has a pillow and his blanket at the foot of the bed and just crawls into bed and sleeps there :)

I was going to ask here how many of the kids actually sleep in their room all night? Because most of the time, Kavi does not either. It also makes me go a little nutty at times. He rarely sleeps through the night. We have to lay with him in his room, on a twin bed, for him to fall asleep in there. Then we quietly walk out. Sometimes he wakes up crying an hour later, sometimes it's hours later. And if he wakes up in there in the middle of the night he makes a mad dash run into our room and comes in our bed. I did say something to my husband the other day because he seems to give in easier than I do, that this is going to keep happening until he's like 10!! I just would like him to sleep all night! He does it only maybe once per week, a solid 11-12 hours straight. It always feels like a miracle!

wow Nessa lucky girl! I feel a little better now that some of you still cosleep. With the next one I want him or her in our room for the first 6 months out of convenience haha , but I will not have the baby in my bed, I just could not deal with 2 children waking up all the time. Ben still wakes up anywhere from 3-1234 times per night, so I am praying that the next baby will be a better sleeper.

Congrats Stef!

As far as co-sleeping goes, I have gotten a lot of slack when I tell people the baby sleeps with me. Usually they think I'm going to roll on top of her (never going to happen) or that I'm spoiling her too much. She sleeps through the whole night when she's in my bed, and this is good  since I am back to work. Plus, I don't see how I could have her spoiled anyway she's 2 months old  I did the same thing with the boys, they were right next to me in the bassinet or in my bed. They're 5, they sleep in their own beds & I have no problem. And yes, they're still alive

Allie sleeps in her bed. I only nurse her in our bed and then take her back into her bed. She moves too much and doesn't want to be close. She's never been a snuggly baby.
