Zaid came down with a 103 fever last night and vomited everywhere. We took him to the doctor this morning and he was diagnosed with herpangina. I guess it is a viral infection in the mouth and throat from what I understand. Zaid is 200% miserable, cant eat drink or swallow and its breaking my heart. He has blisters all over the back of his throat and keeps telling me "ouchy mommy, ouchy mouth" He drank about half a vanilla shake 30 mins ago and went straight to sleep (lol after all that sugar) I pray it all goes away soon.

Kel: hope he feels better, keep him drinking and sleeping! All Ben wanted to do was sleep because of the fever and just because it probably was the only way to deal with the pain. Watch closely for wet diapers too, because the fever burns more fluid. It really was an ordeal, I hope Zaid has a milder from of what Ben had but nonetheless these blisters hurt and a toddler can't just pop an oxycodone. :( Hang in there. i know how hard it is to see your little boy so sick. But its also amazing how fast they bounce back afterwards ( I just must not ever mention the word hospital or "NINO" the RN or "iv" again) .

Nessa&Charles: is Ben sick too? Hope he feels better soon!

Anya: I agree, try to get as much rest as you can, you need all your energy for giving birth. And soon enough you won't know what the word "sleep" and "rest" really mean, haha. good luck!!

Kelly, poor Zaid. Sweet little Enzo had that two times - once on New Year's Eve and then around Valentine's day. :( The one good thing is that if you can get him to open his mouth for you Chloraseptic is ok. My pediatrician said to us, "as long as Enzo will open his mouth for you it's fine."

I gave him teething tablets and he was able to eat half a pack of ramen noodles. He wont drink from a cup but I let him drink 6 half frozen freezepops. I know its disgusting but I didnt know what else to do. He has had 3 pee diapers since this morning and the fever has been down with motrin/tylenol.

Stef, Im thinking its hand/foot/mouth now. Zaids feet broke out in a rash. I know the viruses are very similar, I just hope it clears up soon.

On a good note, got my labs back today. Pap, Ultrasound, and Labs are perfect, baby is measuring exactly as I thought. 7 weeks now. so exciting

Poor Zaid! I hope he feels better quickly. Blisters in the mouth / throat sounds miserable!

Hana has been sick this weekend too. She was running a fever yesterday and vomited while eating dinner (to point the poor girl was dry heaving). Zak didn't want to eat his dinner afterwards (and I can't say I blame him). So...we gave her a cool bath, some ibuprofin, and put her to bed. She woke up slightly better today. Well...that was until lunch when she vomited AGAIN all over her tray. She was running a 102 F fever and ended up other issues as well. I am having a hard time getting her to drink. I hope she is over this soon and Zak doesn't get it!

My daughter had the same thing- I think it's called mouth and foot disease. It's a viral thing and goes away on it's on. I had to take her to the ER when she came down with it. The mouth blisters are the worst. She wasn't eating nor drinking. The ER doctor gave us a prescription for lidocaine viscous. It numbed her mouth and she was able to drink and as the blisters decreased in size she started to eat. I think it took about 6 days for it to clear.

Wow. a week??? I am not able to take off work past monday so if he isnt able to go to daycare by tuesday (will be the 6th day) idk what im gonna do. there are only 2 other kids who are there so maybe by chance they wont be there on tuesday.

I am pretty confident Zaid got it from the "Car" grocery cart at Jewel. I remember he was chewing on the steering wheel and I scolded him. That was 6 days ago. The doc said symptoms begin 3-6 days from first contact with the virus which would make perfect sense. Ill never use one of those things again

We had the lidocaine in the hospital too, but he completely freaked out when anything came near his mouth. It actually hurt him way more than it helped. But again he had about 65 blisters in his mouth/tongue/throat and another 30 or so on his lips, face and neck. Ben's are still healing (almost 3 weeks later now), he still has them visibly on the face and neck although they are dried and every now and then he says "hurts" when he eats.

Initially our pediatrician recommended Maalox (liquid) mixed with liquid benadryl to swish in his mouth for pain relief (I've never heard of it before). Kind of disgusting mix and it didn't work for Ben but maybe you can try that too?

I also think Ben got his from a shopping cart, or the pool. I usually use wipes or a cover for the shopping carts but I didnt the week before (in an attempt to be a less paranoid mother, haha)

Hope all the sick babies feel better soon!

Stef, being that we were at the waterpark the day his fever struck, my initial reaction was it was that. But I dont think its even possible for a virus to hit that fast? I dont know.

I use to be SOOOOO paranoid about the carts and stopped bc, well, I guess thats just what we do as our kids get older. But now, I think ill bring my stroller in or let Zaid walk. Hubby and I always shop together so it would be easy to do. Lesson learned

Zaid hasnt had a pee diaper in about 15 hours. (10 of which were sleeping) we were heading to the ER this morning until Zaid agreed to drink about 6 ounces of water and eat half a can of soup. I told him if he didnt drink it then the doctor was gonna have to give him an ouchy so after much coaxing (and a few teething tablets) he agreed. He hasnt had any motrin or tylenol in about 14 hours so im hoping this fever is gone for good. Whenever I ask him to drink something he tells me "I cant its hot" lol I think when he feels the sting on his blisters he assumes that means the food is hot in his mouth. Poor guy. Cant wait for this to be over. 1 million times worse than h1n1 ever was.

Hope Hana feels better soon!!

Wow I hope all the kids will be healthy again soon!

Shopping carts sure are culprits, that is where Jona got croup, I am very sure of it. He licked it that time. I don't use the wipes cause he doesn't lick anymore. We wash hands as soon as we can after shopping, or more often, I can let him walk with me through the store. But I got paranoid about hand washing, I do it all the time.
