Kopa, I agree with Gabby. Better to be safe than sorry ... I would definitely take the document with you. My husband took our son to Canada to visit family and I was unable to go with them. The border guard that I contacted as well as the airline both strongly recommended having that document.

thats interesting. I never thought to bring that document when I took Ben to Germany, no one asked me for it but then again my husband took us to the airport and helped at the check in. At what point of the travel would they require this document anyway? And is this really a formal document or just a typed letter with a signature? I guess I was just lucky they didn't ask...

Gabby: I went once a month at this point in the pregnancy. Maybe it was really just a precaution or an error by the nurse?

It's an affidavit . I went to the Base lawyer and he knew what it was and typed the thing and then notarized it and then me and my husband signed it.

It pretty much said that my husband, name, address, working at...., gives me permission to take our boy , name, address... outside the US .

Every lawyer should know what it is....

Kopa, I always took the signed document with me, just in case they go crazy and they ask for one,I wanted to be prepared and not to be sent back to the states just for a piece of paper. I went by myself 3 times, and one of those times they asked for it.

To all the mommies and pregnant ladies : how often did you go see your doc in the first months to your pregnancy up to month 4-5 ??

I went to see my doc the other day, and in the office she said "Ill see you next month". All she did was an ultrasound and a pap, and said that everything looked great with the baby on the ultrasound. So I leave, make an appointment for July and then the nurse calls me an hour later saying that the doc wants to see me every 2 weeks from now on instead of every month ( i am 13 weeks pregnant) Of course this freaked me out now and I was wondering what can it be wrong. :(:(

Have you had this happen to you?? :help: Im starting to get all paranoid here :(

I only went every month early on and I was pregnant with twins.

So here's a weird update to all that are following my GD issue. My blood gluc levels are still great, I'm still baffled as to why I'm considered GD, but whatever.

Anyways, this morning, I woke up feeling fine...didn't get great sleep, but otherwise just grumbling about going to work. I had some water, made a cup of coffee to go (didn't drink any), and made just plain oatmeal for breakkie. Anyhoo, I pack up my oatmeal, coffee, and water and walk out the door, and i get this uncontrollable nausea. So much so that (gonna be a little graphic here)....I started heaving into the bushes.

So it all passed and I went to work. Starting blood gluc was 101 (they want me under 100) and after my oatmeal (which I've had before many times and tested fine), I'm 161!

My mom asked me if I was nauseous during the blood gluc test, and yeah I was. She's like 'could the nausea be affecting how your body is processing insulin?'

So I will call the docs, but was wondering if anyone had any experience with this?

Hi, everyone! It looks like there's been a lot of pregnancy announcements here, but I thought I'd add my name to the list. I'm about 14 weeks pregnant and due in December.

That's unlikely in my opinion... How soon after the oatmeal did you check your blood glucose? Oh and another question: do you rub alcohol wipes on your finger before you stick yourself? If so, let the alcohol completely dry off, because the glucose in the alcohol may manipulate your actual glucose reading.

attaya: congratulations and welcome to the baby corner :)

I actually have just been washing my hands lately, no alcohol. Hrmm, I should get some.

Oh, the testing was an hour after the oatmeal. Always an hour after I eat. Actually, today I think it may have even been longer than an hour (I was at work with a minor crisis), so it would have prolly been higher had it been an actual hour.

I feel better now, so we'll see. I'm calling the docs tomorrow.

Attaya, yeah congrats! woohooooooooooooo! :):):)

about frequency of prenatal appointments:

My doctor wanted to see me every month and now that I'm getting closer to due date every 2-3 weeks. I don't have any problems however.

In the beginning they told me every month until 3rd trimester, then every 2 weeks and every week in the last 4 weeks.

BTW, when was the earliest you took your baby on a long overseas plane trip? I would love to go see my family for Christmas, but with a then 4 month old I'm not sure if that's a good idea. We would have at least one stop-over and the total trip would probably be 12-16 hours. Besides the seasonal flu viruses my main concern is the air pressure issue - but I was told that there are some kind of drops you can give your baby to help cope with it?
