@ VI: I never let Jona cry, I'm opposed to that after reading several studies and such on the subject. While it depends on the child's personality, I will still tell you what worked for us, maybe it works for you too. :)

Once he was 14 months old (last September) we started to gently nightwean him. He woke up every 2 hours at that point to nurse. Instead of nursing him every time, I only nursed him every other time, and when it was the non-nursing wake-up-call, I would gently rub his back, pet his head, and he fell asleep after 5-10 minutes. DH helped out a lot. Of course he protested, but he was never left alone to cry. Soothing words and pats on the back are part of the program. Within less than 2 weeks he slept through the night. Every night he took better to the backrubs and the stretches before he woke up grew longer. For him it really was just being used to waking up lots and nursing back to sleep.

Nessa ~ OMG Ben is so cute :) Looks like he had a great time at his birthday party and all his little friends went!

Vi ~ is Sofi in your room? I know a lot of people might disagree, but if she's not in your room, I would set up a pack n' play or a portable crib next to your bed and put her to sleep in that. Sometimes just knowing you're next to her will be enough for her to go back to sleep. It's also easier to rub her back or rock the crib back and forth when she's right next to you and you don't have to get up and go into another room. We also turn the fan on at night (not blowing on us, we point it towards the wall) for the noise, it helped the boys sleep when they were babies, and now Anna likes the noise, she is sleeping about 4 - 4 1/2 hrs at night and she only wakes up to eat and get her diaper changed and then goes right back to bed. I'm sure this will change, but for now it works. I hope Sofi gives you a break soon! And I will def. let you know when I'm in Manhattan :) We want to go see that dinosaur show that's coming up at Madison Square Garden, it looks so cool and I think the boys would love that.

Susita@ yep, she sleeps with us, her crib is right next to my side of the bed, it's very convenient but at the same time I read that most of the babies that sleep in the parents bedroom wake up a few times during the night and it seems to be true in our case

Anna C.@ Let me try your suggestion, I will let you know how it goes, thank you!

Nessa@ I saw the pic of Ben in your fb, so cute, where did you celebrate his b-day? here or in Brasil?

My brasilian friend contacted me,she is definitely not coming back, the hubby is pissed 'cause he was trying to work things out but she says that she doesn't love him anymore so she will stay, well, she wants me to write a letter in behalf of her as a witness of all the drama that she went through while she was here and I really want to help but at the same time I don't want to get in trouble. She went to see a lawyer and that's what she is asking for, I feel so bad, I spoke with my hubby and he definitely don't want us involve and he is right in this case. My friend's husband lives a few blocks away from my house and I don't want any problem with him. what to do?

Love all the pics! Ben and Zaid were both so adorable at their parties :)

Twila, hope the twins feel better soon and you don't get it.

I am so frustrated with living in the middle of nowhere! We are fencing in part of our backyard so Declan can play safely. Right now, he likes to test me and try to take off up a hill into the woods. So, I want to find some nice used outdoor toys, like a playhouse, sandbox, etc. I've been checking Craigslist, but apparently no one in Northern New Hampshire sells anything on it. I guess I could drive 2 hours south to Manchester NH or over to Burlington VT, but then the savings I would get are negated by the gas to drive there! My mom has been trying to convince us to move to CT and, when I have to shop, I seriously consider it :)

My sister lives outside of Burlington. She has done well on Freecycle. Have you tried that in your area of NH?

Hey all - we're baptizing Enzo on Saturday. This should be awesome...a 13 month old who now wants to walk everywhere. I can just see him now - splashing in the water and trying to bite the priest because he's teething. Good times ahead - real good times.

Twila - I have posted on Freecycle and also searched. Nothing yet, but I am holding out hope :) Hoping that your babies feel better soon.

Staashi - Can't WAIT to hear the stories of Enzo's baptism! I'm sure you will have some great ones

So, we got about a foot of snow last night. I had already packed Declan's winter stuff away since silly me didn't expect to get SNOW at the end of April. Schools are delayed here, but luckily daycare was not.
