I feel with you girls. I'm in my 20th week and feel like a whale as well. We just had our US yesterday and found out that we are going to have a boy. Heartrate was 150 and everything seemed normal. She just couldnt find the left heart ventrikel because of the way the baby was moving. So I'll have another US in 5 weeks!

Revenesque@ What da heck? they cannot tell you the gender? I'm so mad!!! and I'm not you so I can imagine how are u feeling. Well I guess you gotta be patient and just wait, the baby is fine so that's the most important thing.

Happy Bunny@ Cheer up mamma! Mots of us went through that. I lost weight in the beginning of my pregnancy and started gaining during my 4th month and I was definitely very nervous, I gained 22 pounds in total and it was a shock to look at myself in the mirror, part of me didn't want to eat 'cause I didn't want to gain more weight (i was so stupid) but C'mon! I had a baby inside of me I had to feed her, and eat healthy and whatever I ate or drank was going to affect her. So I ended just accepting it but trust me, I felt like a rollercoaster. After I gave birth the pounds just started melting and now I'm back to my high school weight,If u are planning to breastfeed that's they key, it works great. I went to the gym until I was 7 months pregnant, that helped me to control the weight and gave me so much energy.

Sofia got three shots on Wednesday plus they took some blood from her to check the lead levels. She is doing great, growing so fast and behaving like a teenager already, those tantrums!!!!!!

Thank you all for your encouragement...it is so wonderful to know there are people who feel the way I do. I never voiced these feelings before because it made me feel like a bad person, a bad potential mother....like getting this wonderful gift, and then complaining. I have since voiced my opinion to my fiance, and he is 100% supportive. I feel so much better now that a big weight is off my shoulders. We are starting to walk more, and I am learning to ask for help when I need it...I guess I'm the type who feels weak when I ask for help. I know, it's stupid, but it's who I am.

Anyways, I had my last appt on March 15. I kinda screwed up the scheduling though. The appt before that was my 10 week...on Feb 17th. At that appt, hey gave me a script to get a bunch of bloodwork done, and then scheduled me for the 3/15 appt. I called the Lab for the bw, and they said it would only take a few days to complete. So I kinda left it a while...my schedule was hectic and tbh, I forgot. So, the week before the 15, I called the lab. The Wednesday before, I tried to get into the lab, but they were full. They made me an appt for Friday (the last business day before my next appt). Anyways, long story short (way too late, I know, hehe)...I get there, and then they tell me that some of the bw (cystic fibrosis test) will take 8 days to return.

The bw was kinda scary....they were testing for all sorts of stuff, including a sugar test which took an hour. I had to drink that nasty sweet stuff which was horrible! I did have a fear of those results, because diabetes runs in my family (grandparents), and when my mother was pregnant with me, they were v concerned with her developing gestational diabetes. It's one of the things that really terrifies me.

So I went to my appt on that Monday, but we had no results to discuss :( The doc said that they would only call me if there was a problem. It is now 13 days from the appt, 16 days from the lab appt, and no phone call! w00t! I was really stressing myself out over all this, but it seems that everything is so far, so good!

I have to go this week to get more bloodwork done...in about 3 or 4 more days. He says I have to be 16 weeks for the next round, and that won't be until Wednesday. Because I'm high-risk (I'm 36), this round is to check for abnormalities. This will decide if I need to get an amnio, which I'm terrified of, btw...

So yeah I'm rambling hahah. But please keep me in your prayers for another good round of results. Each step is such an achievement for us!

I love how you ladies say you feel like a whale at 20 weeks

Just wait till you're 9 months pregnant and can't get off the couch without some creative techniques or some assistance

I'm ready to pop. Any day now...

Thank you all so much (L) You rawk! I really appreciate having peeps that understand

ETA: I am seeing a nutritionist, but the funny thing is, I seem to know more than she does. My exH was a nutritionist, and I helped him with all his work in college

OMG!!!!!! Lisa Congrats, I'm so happy for you, I could scream! wait, I just did!!

I think it is normal to freak out a little when your body starts to change. I worried how my body would change after birth, (and now I wonder how my boobs will look after nursing  ). I'd say: don't worry about it - If you eat right, continue to exercise and don't overindulge, there is no reason why you shouldn't bounce right back. Keeping a food diary really helped me - I love www.myfooddiary.com because it's not just about the calories but about healthier eating.

To all: Sebas with the Texas bluebonnets :star:

Lisa, I was 34 going on 35 when I got pregnant. I had to go through many of the same tests you do. Be very, very careful about the amnio. I'll never forget that in my 37-38th week my OB wanted to do one and my neonatalogist was like - OH HELL TO THE NO!!!!!!!! Ergo - no amnio needed. ;) Depending on what they are looking for, they can get lots of info from U/Ss, bloodwork, etc.

All the best, girl!

@ Susita - awwwwwww - I remember that beached whale feeling. I would try to do some creative things to rollover in bed or on the couch. I think I looked like a flipped over turtle flailing around.

@ Caro --- OMG, SEBAS@!!!! Too, too cute!

Yeah, he's our little chubbers - all mommy too :) and talk about growing up fast, he just started crawling backwards so it's only a matter of days before he figures out how to move forward - I wish I could keep him a baby just a little longer

Susita...so excited for you! You must be so ready for this to be over with!!!

Caro - Sebas is soooooooo cute! omG really quite adorable :)

Staashi - The man and I have been discussing the amnio...we may forego it even if they want it done. I had looked into CVS which is testing at week 12, but the doc said there was a higher risk of miscarriage with that than the amnio. So we didn't do it. Hopefully, if this bloodwork comes back good, then there won't be any question about whether or not we made the right choice. I guess this is all just a waiting game, which I'm soooooooo not good at, lol.

Oh, I have more to add, lol. I'm gonna be the 'slow one' here cos I've never had a baby before AND I'm an only child, so this is all really new and strange for me.

So I'll confess to occasionally watching '16 and pregnant'. It's Tivo's fault as it originally suggested one, lol. If you're not familiar with the show, it's basically a 1-hr 'documentary' about a particular girl, her situation, etc. Some of them are heartbreaking! Anyways, I was watching this one...the girl gave birth, she left school for like 6-9 weeks or so after the birth. Did home schooling, and took care of the baby. The 'baby daddy' was in another school, worked full time, and would come home around 10pm. Their relationship was fine, and the girl seemed like such a reasonable, mature-ish girl. But all of a sudden, she's unhappy with the boyfriend...saying he 'doesn't do enough'. She's like 'I take care of the baby all day long, and when he finally comes home, he's too tired to help me.'

Is that normal? I found it incredibly unreasonable, but then I was talking to someone who saw it and was like 'omG he never helped'

It is normal and she wasn't being unreasonable. I don't care how hard you work, this parenting gig is totally 24/7. He should have come home and done something to help her out - I can't tell you how many times I have been soooooo tired and at 2 or 3 am given E his bottle - whatever it takes you do it. It doesn't matter how exhaused you are, babies have needs and you've got to be there for them. Also, for a SAHM, they need a break too. There really is no rest for anyone when you have a baby.

I hope that the young people who watch 16 and pregnant get a clue - babies are a buttload of work (literally!) and you better be with someone who is committed. I always said that you better hope your relationship is super strong before you have a baby because they will tear it apart - and for just this reason. If one partner does more than the other and feels slighted - oh lordy! It's a never ending story of who does what when and your relationship begins to fail. I speak of which I know.

I watched that episode you were speaking about and freaked about her labor because it was just like mine. OMG!!!! :ranting: Now I know why I'll never go down that road again.

Her labor was insane :o :o :o and freaked me out! Holy #######, my (L) goes out to you if that's what you had to deal with. I was like 'omG, she's playing up for the cameras, please God, tell me that's what's going on' LOLZ

The reason why I really ask is that I work so much, it's not even funny. Every single day even. My brain cannot fathom how staying at home is going to be more work than what I do now. Yeah yeah, all the moms are laughing right now at my naivete ;) My fiance is graduating school beginning of Oct, we are due middle of Sept. I dunno how we're going to work out those two weeks because his schoolwork is going to be insane at that point, and I am having to get a C-section. He's a super doting, wonderful guy...he's gonna be a great dad! I really would not have a problem with being the sole or primary parent for the first few weeks because that's what couples do...pick up slack for each other. (Of course, I realize the C is going to be an issue) But then again, I've never had a baby before, so I don't currently see what all the hoo ha is about cos to me (right now), I see it as less work than what I'm currently doing.

I'll update this in 8 months, of course hahahahaha

I don't think you can fathom the amount of work until the baby comes. I give props to the single moms out there because I don't know how they do it without going crazy. You'll work out a way with your fiance to make it work. My husband and I figured it out with twins, my going back to work soon after they were born (I was out on bedrest for 8 weeks, mostly unpaid), and doing it without any family nearby. I too had a c-section. It wasn't that bad. Just get up and move as soon as possible. I was out, driving, and carrying the babies with me within 1.5 weeks. As for the genetic testing, try not to freak out too much. I was on the borderline for age (I had the babies soon after turning 34). I wanted testing because my mom has spina bifoda and I was worried for my two. My results came back as a 1 in 64 chance for one of them to have Downs. My perinatalogist said I could have an amnio. I decided not to because I didn't see an advantage and it is even a higher risk procedure when carrying twins. He told me he thought it was a wise decision because all the u/s (and I had many because I was carrying the twins and I had a cervical procedure done the summer before) showed them to be healthy. Just try to stay positive!

I am on Spring Break this week. I love hanging with the babies, but know I will be ready to head back to work next week as well! Hana and Zak are in to EVERYTHING! OMG...four little toddler hands and eyes that find everything!
