I had my 37 week check up today- GBS negative, baby is head down and posterior in an unstable lie and the midwife is going to strip my membranes on monday, if he stays like that!! so hopefully I have this baby by tuesday. :innocent: still hoping for a little Valentine. :luv:

Definitely planning on getting an epidural again although our epidurals really suck. We don't have 24/7 anesthesia - they're on call and therefore they can't hook me on a pump- just top offs and they are so unreliable. I had a mom who got an epidural at 7cm, went to sleep and while she was sleeping nice and comfy her uterus contractions pushed the baby so low, she only had to push twice and the baby was born. No pain, nothing.

autum, wow glad you're ok! It doesn't take much to go off the road. When I came home from work yesterday morning (half asleep) I came around a corner and almost hit a schoolbus head on- he was fishtailing in my lane going way too fast! I don't know how I got my van off the side of he road without spinning it too. Can't wait for spring!!!

stina: happy belated 3rd birthday to Kavi! He is so cute and so big!!

Stef, that is SO exciting! Do you really think stripping your membranes will put you into labor? It never worked with either of my kids.

Im home, had lots of visitors and trying to get a feel for Salma. She is kind of a spitty baby after she eats which is worrying me but we have a ped appt tomorrow (my peds dont work out of the hospital i delivered at) so we will see what they say. Overall I feel pretty ok. Still having annoying cramping and contractions here and there so i got a script for motrin. Hoping im able to sleep some tonight. Thanks everyone for the congrats and well wishes

yeah it worked with Ben, he was born less than 20 hours after my membranes were swept. I'm hoping this time will work wonders again. Kinda sadistic this anticipation to have someone do this to me. haha. But I can't wait to have the little man.

Regarding Salma- are you feeding her too much? Remember her tummy is the size of her little fist, a lot of bottle fed babies get too much for them to digest in the first 3 days and that makes them spit up very often. Hope you feel better soon and get some sleep!! So happy for you to be home and that everything went so well.

Yay Kelly..so happy you're home. Have fun getting to know your little girl.

@Steffi: Membrane stripping never worked with me either. I had them stripped with Allie ummmmm.....3 times. I actually turned around one time to run back into the doctor's office and asked him if he could just really quick sweep them  . I was desperate. That was on August 8, 2008 and I remember it because it was a friday and we had planned the repeat c/s for the 11th (Monday). On August 9th my Ob called and said he cancelled the c/s. Everybody always says, baby will come when he/she is ready and your body is ready...I don't know...I was already 4cm dilated at that point...how much 'readier' can you get??? I didnt' get one cramp after either membrane sweep. It didn't hurt either, it was uncomfortable but not painful.

Stef, im feeding her about 1oz to 1.5oz every 3-4 hours. Shes burping well and seems to be doing better. Thinking maybe last night was just bad because she was so new and still adjusting to this crazy world outside of her mamas belly. We shall see, I have her bassinet propped from the underneath with a folded blanket so she is on a slight incline, maybe that will help.

I was always around 1 or 2cm when my membranes were stripped. Never did a thing, not one contraction or cramp. I hope things move right along for ya Stef. So excited to have another baby corner cutie!

aww you guys stink! haha. I'm dead set on the 18th as the last day, I think if I have my mind set on it, it MUST work! haha. When the doc swept the membranes with Ben I went home, no contractions or anything, just some bleeding. And then about 8 hours later I woke up with contractions every 2-3 minutes. I am so praying it works again.

The doctor told me yesterday when she felt the position, she didn't think there was a big baby in there. So when I went to work and told my coworkers they were like "yeah right honey, just look at you! you do realize she just said that to make you happy" :bonk: haha. I'm totally in denial or I'd lose it.

Kelly: glad she is doing better. Usually they can't handle more than 5-10 cc per feeding in the first 48 hours (even though it seems like nothing), then it changes very fast. I see a lot of babies who spit up, even breastfed babies whose mothers have too much milk. They don't know yet when they're full, hence the spitting up and colicky symptoms. Now she should be ok with 1-2 oz per feed, and you can already tell becasue she is doing better! so cute the picture of Zaid holding her! I can't wait for Ben to hold his little brother!

chnst: Great attitude! Hope that you have a smooth labor and delivery, can't wait for the pics. :luv:

I had the GCT test last week, and I passed the one-hour (well within range), Thank God! My hbp is pretty much in control, systolic ranges 120-136, diastolic stays pretty much at 80. I hope that it stays within healthy limits until delivery. My wonderful OB decided to have me do the 24-hour urine test to find out how my kidneys are reacting to the high bp. Thankfully no protein or sugar in the urine during the weekly tests, so I hope that the 24-hour urine next week comes back negative as well. I can't be thankful enough for my OB!

I had a 3d u/s today. I thought it was a good idea to take a look at how our baby looked like, but I realized that it was selfish of me. Funny thing is, I mentioned to the OB I wanted to go for a 3-d U/S, and he told me flat out, "If you were my wife, I would say not to waste money on it. But if you want to, it's fine." I was taken aback because I wasn't expecting such a direct judgement, but he was right. I went for a 3-d U/S and the tech, as nice as she was, kept prodding and poking my stomach as he was sleeping. My baby is a day-sleeper and is most active in the evening or night and my 3d U/S was scheduled during the day. He was sleeping facing my back and would only move his arms or legs but would not completely turn to face my stomach, as she said is ideal for 3-d U/S pics. She poked and prodded for a good 20 minutes, and then I couldn't take it. I can't believe I let her continue so long, I can't get over the guilt. My mother was with me and I could tell from the look on her face that she wasn't too happy with the tech either, for good reason! Hubby and I never want to do it again! My stomach was sore for hours after that as well. My doc was so right! I see 3-d U/S from a diff point of view now, whether wrong or right, I can't seem to justify them anymore. No wonder FDA doesn't approve of them! Just wanted to share with you all, still can't help feeling angry with myself.

Marm, don't feel bad. You just realized that your baby's comfort is much more important than an image. When I went biweekly to the peri's office, the U/S techs would switch it to 4D on occasion. It was cool to see Enzo, but they never disturbed him.

When we had our U/S, the technician only 'turned on' the 3D when she could tell from the regular U/S that DD was in a good position where we could see her. I don't understand why yours couldn't do the same thing. That seems kind of odd to me.

Even though I'm pretty sure I don't want another child, it's remembering times like that which makes me miss all of it a little. It was such a special time to 'see' her that way, and just the wonder on hubby's face - priceless.

There is a new law that passes to claim some breast feeding supplies on taxes. I figured some of the Mom's here may like to know. I read it on NPR today.

@ Nikita: I only have experience as a stay at home mom and breastfeed around the clock. My MIL breastfed her babies and worked, but she could take her little ones to work since she is self-employed. My boss in New York pumped every three hours at work and nursed at home (the pumped milk was left for the nanny to feed to baby). My son woke up every three hours to nurse til 13 months, and my daughter gives me 2-5 hour stretches currently.

I had some 3D pics with Jona - it was the 20 week anatomy scan but the tech knew my husband so she just did them for fun and printed them out. It only took 20 seconds or so but was a nice face pic.

We had the newborn pictures taken yesterday, and have so much to do all the time! All that newborn stuff is too big on ELoise, what a pain to find something that fits....

nice! although it doesn't sound like everyone can do that. One of my friends was able to use her flexible spending account for a breastpump. wow did you read the bottom part about that security guard telling that mother to go bf her baby on the toilet? public breastfeeding isn't for me but if she had nowhere to go and does it in a somewhat decent manner then that's ok.

Marm: don't beat yourself up over that. A lot of people like to get a 3D peek at their baby. I don't think it does harm. I never did it with eitehr pregnancy, although I really enjoyed the 2 ultrasounds I had. It's very reassuring to see that baby is doing fine, but I don't believe in the 3d stuff. Nothing can beat the moment when you see and hold your baby for the very first time, no matter how much they advance ultrasound technology. But just because your OB is not a fan doesn't mean its harmful. You're probably going to feel guilty about enough parenting decisions once your little guy is finally born, so don't sweat the small stuff too much! :)
