Anna: wow she is beautiful! Good job girl! :) Yeah the cramps are definitely worse with each subsequent child. I don't remember much discomfort after I had Ben other than my pelvis pain. I guess the percocet took care of that and the episiotomy. Hope you're feeling better!

autum: aww I had 2 nursing students in the NICU today and I felt so bad for them they were all stressed out with finals and care plans etc. But you will get through it and I remember the most important thing for me was that the hubby was so supportive and understadning although he probably wanted to shoot me sometimes, haha. Kudos to you for putting up with it all I'm sure your hubby really appreciates it.

As for the birth. I am confused, my last OB told me I should never have a vaginal birth again because of the high risk of the pelvis seperating again and the perinatologist I saw told me I'd probably need surgery and pins for my hips if it happens again and chances are very high.

BUT my midwife and OB are kind of pushing a vaginal vs c/s. They are very crunchy/all natural which is fine but I don't know if they really know or care. My OB said that she can't guarantee it happens again and that she thinks I will push a lot less (like 30 minutes) and hence have less risk of seperating the pelvis again unless the baby is estimated to be over 9lbs.

I don't know what to do. I guess I will just go with the flow and see if he decides to turn, what the next ultrasound says and go from there. If he stays transverse then he will be a c/s anyway. Either way I'm really scared of either a c/s and a vaginal birth because of all the possibilities. But I am so excited to have the little man, so I just want to get it over with either way.

@Kelly I can totally sympathesize with you. The last three weeks of my pregnancy were very similar in the changing messages - c-section now, c-section at 36 weeks, oh...maybe emergency c-section because baby a is unresponsive during biophysical profile, decelerations are seen (horrible nurse who couldn't monitor twins well and got me put on 24 hr monitoring and no food or liquid), finally it was peri who said no delivery, unless I deteriorated, until 37 weeks. Then...OB who visits from practice at 36 w 4 d decides to pull blood on me. Ha! C-section scheduled for 36 w 5 d. Luckily my husband's work was cool and let him call in the day I delivered. My mom came home with us and hubby then took off the first week I went back to work. I wish we lived near! We would definitely help entertain Zaid.

hehehe, I wasn't taking your post literally...just didn't want to give off a wrong impression. The cramps are pretty bad though. Like 1-10 10 being the worst cramps you can imagine, I'd say they were an 8-9 for the first few days. :(

I would have readdressed the Mirena choice if I knew how bad they were. But maybe it's just early days yet? I dunno.

Meanwhile, I just realized I have a fb msg to respond to :P

I have several things to ask my OB now. I prefer the idea of non hormonal BC but if its a choice between a lot of pain during my period, or no pain and a low dose hormone, then I'm almost leaning towards low dose. SIGH. Decisions decisions!!

I'll help you a little :) The Mirena hormone is only going to be limited to the area where it is located. It's not like a pill where the hormone you digested goes through your body. At first I was against it (same reason as you) but then after no AF for 9 months I was in love with the idea of no more AF lol. And I'm very happy with my decision. My midwife inserted it and it was pain free. She was very slow and gentle and I had no cramps what so ever from it. Unlike when I got paragard and the OB inserted it, it was pretty painful.

My ParaGard was good to me though - the cramps was geting better when the time goes by.

I wonder why it changed to only lasted 5 years...hm....on the wiki still said 10 years and even effective for 12 years.

K-1 = 4 months

AOS = 5 months

I-751 = almost one year

:) Thanks for that. I had just read the same thing a few hours ago on Mirena's website - that the hormone used is 'localized' and doesn't go through your blood stream. I think I am more down with that than I am risking the possible horrid side effects of the ParaGard. I'm going to talk to my doctor about both, though, and see what she says. But I'm leaning more towards Mirena than I was before. :)

Chnst, if you ask me...hip surgery sounds a lot worse than a scheduled (non emergency) csection...I had cero pain with my csection, Sebas was perfect, it did not interfere with bfing at all and my scar is almost totally gone by now. If I were you, I would go with the csection, but support you whatever you decide :)

Caro: thanks for your input, yeah I totally think recovery from a c/s will be easier than the hip thing. She said she will not schedule the c/s until my due date, so if I go into labor before that I guess I will try to push the baby out and hope for the best. Either way I'm a little scared but so ready to have the little man!!

Kelly: aww man, you have been so patient! It's really such a rollercoaster ride with this pregnancy! I guess she is just not ready to come out yet. I am thinking about you and hoping she will be here soon! And OMG I couldn't believe how bad the weather was in your area! I hope its not too far for you to the hospital! lol 27 hours, you're counting the hours???

so here's a sad update, I've been freaking myself out all day. Ben's dermatologist called me this am from her home. She had talked to the hubby yesterday and he didn't know how to break this to me so he asked her to call me and tell me. (men :bonk: ) Ben needs more surgery on his neck. The second report she did at her office read that first of all the stupid surgeon did not remove enough tissue. I can't see anything but a big skar, bigger than the mole was, but apparently he didn't remove all of it and whatever he removed has the potential to come back and be malignant. The good news it that the little sample she had was not malignant but it could get bad at some point.

So now she wants to biopsy the lymph node that is still enlarged. And at the same time remove the remaining mole tissue. I just want to cry. I hate that he has to go through this again. I had such a bad feeling about this surgeon and his attitude and here we are... So now the dermatologist is sending us to an ENT surgeon in NYC and surprise surprise this doc doesn't take our insurance! Luckily there is another ENT in the same office who does ( I don't get it) so we have an appointment for March 14th to start from square one. Not sure how to break this to Benny, he is still traumatized from the last surgery and talks about it every day. He is not really old enough to understand why he needs surgery. I feel like he thinks we are doing this to punish him... I don't know if we should just not tell him anything but he is smart enough to know what is going to happen once we go see the doc's. :( This could really not come at a worse time...

Agreed about the pain with insertion...it was pretty bad for me. The OB inserted it because I didn't have a vaginal delivery. I was sweating, and my legs were shaking. I kept asking him about the progress % 'are we at least 50% done yet???' It's not unbearable, but it wasn't pain free in the slightest.

Stef - my prayers are with you and your family for Ben's ordeal! What a horrible thing to have to go through again. Obviously, the best news is that the last biopsy was benign, so thank God for small favors, right? Poor little Ben though, having to go through this again. Makes me so mad at that doc for you!

Hip surg vs C-section; while I've never had hip surg, I would assume the c would be a lot easier. I've said it a million times here, my c recovery was awesome. I did have pain, it was sore for a while, but nothing that I felt hindered my daily routine. The actual surgery was weird, I do admit...I never expected it to feel like it did. I was very scared, and I'm thankful my hubby was with me to hold my hand - it made everything a lot easier. Basically, while I didn't have any pain, it just felt like a crapload of pressure; like an elephant was sitting on my chest. But no actual pain.

I find it odd how many are quite adamant against a C section; vg delivery mothers, midwives, some doctors, etc. There's no shame in needing a C, especially if a VD is going to give you more severe problems like possible pelvic separation. You have to do what's right for you and your family, and there's no 'badge of honor' that you get putting yourself at higher risk just to have a VD.

Kelly - (L) how are you feeling today?

I'm with you, Lisa. I don't know who the f put the fear of God about c-section into women's minds but in my opinion after 50+ hours in labor I was ready, and it was great.

And Steffi, there ain't no fvcking way you would have me risk hip separation to avoid a c section. This baby is coming out of you one way or another and I would choose the path where I will recover quickest.

@ Steffi: I'm so sorry, what an idiot... I hope Ben will recover quickly. Can they do a biopsy during surgery? I have to ask my MD sister, but on all those shows ala Grey's Anatomy they do a quick biopsy during surgeries... To assess the lymph node I mean...

For the pregnancy, I don't know how extensive your birth injury was, my mom's broken pelvis from my sister's birth required her to stay in the hospital bed for one month with weights attached to her bones to move them back into proper place. She went on to have two vaginal deliveries of bigger babies than my sister without trouble, the GDR docs didn't even suggest c-section. I don't know your specific case, but I doubt that your obgyn would suggest a vaginal delivery if she thought it was too risky - the risk of being sued would be too high, quite frankly. Whatever happen will happen - who knows, the kid might stay transverse so the topic is off the table anyways. But I don't think an obgyn would not opt for csection when truly necessary.

@ Kelly: Hang in there... It sucks though that they set a date and then your hubbie took off and now you might end up being alone with two kiddos right after delivery. Can your family come? Or worst case, can you hire a postpartum doula (that just means someone who comes to your house and cooks, does laundry and cleans up for you)? My hubbie is on leave til Wednesday and then MIL comes, and he was supposed to take his paternity leave afterwards (military gives you 10 days), but the scheduler messed up and now he cannot take it until March. Oh well at least i'm covered now, but the best thing the scheduler who messed up said was: oh the other guy who just had a baby planned the paternity leave 8 weeks in advance, why didn't you? Oh dude, hello, there is like a 5 week window of delivery? Nevermind the other couple had a planned repeat csection at 40 weeks, and hey they got lucky, what if her water had broken at 38 weeks? People are just thoughtless sometimes.

I'm getting over my engorgement, still here, but not as bad... Eloise eats every 2-4 hours during the day and every 3-5 at night, it's not bad at all right now. And TMI, her poops graduated to yellow finally as it should be. I was a tad worried as we were at the spinach green stage for two days, I thought maybe too much foremilk with my current oversupply... But phew, all good now!
