just saw this Trace....TMI alert!

month one was a nightmare for both, month two was bearable - little extra bleeding, a bad cramp here or there, but I just started month three today, and it's a bit of a horrid b!tch. I have never been one to have bad cramps, nothing really to complain about....but this? My cramping today is so bad. Really awful. Bleeding is heavier, too.

oh and  ty!

Lord! Was that a post from you or? Now I'm scared about trying it!!! Why was month 1 a nightmare for both of you?

Kelly - we're all here, anxiously awaiting word! :)

I just saw on facebook that Anna had her baby girl yesterday! (sorry hope you're not mad for spilling the beans here, haha) Congratulations, so excited for you guys!!!

Kelly I hope all goes well today and that either way you will have the little girl soon!

I had 3 hours of bad contractions but its definitely just dehydration and not enough sleep I guess. I have 3 days off, and just didn't do much other than drinking and keeping my cankles elevated. My MIL (and Ben lol) had a babyshower for us yesterday, that was so much fun. So hopefully the little man will be cooking for a little longer. I have my GBS test tomorrow and hopefully another ultrasound soon to get some answers regarding the position and the size.

 I've just started cycle 3 I think, and I can't wait to remove it in September.

Thing is, it's quite an expensive implantation...but they figure the cost over 5 years and it winds up being 'economically advantageous' when you leave it in the whole time. Not so much to try on a whim though :(

Lisa,

When I had paraguard, it was for 10 years, did they change? It was just 2008 that I had it. I did have heavier bleeding and the cramps, but it was alot better after a while.

Now I have Mirena and I havnt seen my aunt flow yet! love it love it love it!! (dont kow if it's becasue of breastfeeding or the IUD lol.)

Thanks for that about the cramping/bleeding, anya. Still considering ParaGard but trying to avoid the hormones, so no Mirena for me.

And yes, breastfeeding can cause Aunt Flo to pack her bags for a while if I understand right.

Thanks ladies... :) Eloise Charlotte was born yesterday at 4:43pm in Denver at the birthing center.... I started contractions at 11:30pm Saturday night, nothing bad, right on top of each other like a swarm which tapered off by 3am, but then settled into every 3-5 minutes of moderate contractions, but so that I could still talk so I didn't take it all that seriously, but I couldn't sleep... So at 4am I got up, ate breakfast, packed the rest of the stuff for the birthing center and fed the cats and such... By 730am it was still the same pace (and lasting for 40-60 seconds) and Paul made me call the midwives who suggested coming in for a check... So off we headed to Denver. I think we arrived around 10:30am... Our doula met us there as well. My midwife checked really quick and I was only 3cm and 70% effaced, but we agreed to a quick membrane sweep to get things going faster, which stretched me to a 4cm and wasn't at all painful. We then went with our doula to Denny's, and in the middle of the meal I could not sit through the contractions anymore, it got to the point where you can't talk and have to squat to make it work. So Heidi (doula) and I went to the Big Lots next door and walked, walked, walked to make the contractions stronger. Hubbie and Jona followed once they were finished eating. I think I roamed that store for about one hour (thank God they sell furniture there for me to kneel on) and then a walk outside (it's all right next to the birthing center) and we decided to go back at 12:30pm to see where we are at... I snatched the last birthing room (they have three) - it was a crazy day, normally they have 5 births a week, but apparently yesterday was a peak day for labor... I found squatting down was the best way to make it through contractions. They never lasted longer than 1 minute, but were quite intense in both front and back. I love my doula. She massaged me, provided counterpressure and aromatherapy which helped a lot... I wanted in the tub but we needed to check first cause you shouldn't go into the tub too early, it can stall labor. But I was a little over 5cm and so I hopped in. The hot water and the flotation the water gives you is heaven! After only one hour in the tub I had to push, and low and behold, was totally dilated and could even feel the bag of waters with my own fingers and her head, it was so close and yet so far, you moms know what I mean, lol.... Pushing made the contraction pain go away. But I could tell and my midwife could see that the bag of waters sort of was hindering my efforts, she like bounced back a lot, so we decided to rupture it. It took her two tries and she said it is the thickest, strongest amniotic sac she has seen in her career. If we hadn't popped it, she would have been born in the caul. But as soon as we ruptured the membranes she just dropped 1cm lower and it just took off from there - we decided to continue on the bed, on all fours with my doula holding me and within 20 minutes she was born. They got Paul at this point (Paul was watching Jona in the living room, and my MIL and her boyfriend were there too) so he could witness the birth (he popped his head in every now and then, but was very glad that all the women were there for me, he doesn't deal well with the whole blood, pain, birth stuff). She wasn't positioned perfectly, her head was basically looking at 180 degrees, and perfect position is a little off to the side. It was very intense to push her out, I took it slowly, and I thought my pubic bone was breaking as the majority of her head was pushing against that, ouchie. But the slow process paid off as I neither teared nor have a skidmark, I'm just bruised and swollen. Overall I pushed for 2 hours, but I really think it paid off - no sutures, no nothing, I am soooo thankful for that.

I immediately turned around and we brought her up to my chest, she was super alert for the first 6 hours after birth and nursed a whole bunch. After about 10 minutes the cord stopped pulsating at I delivered the placenta which we looked at, and it was definitely a stage 3 one by now, I could see the calcifications, mostly rice grain size, some pea-sized. Once I was pampered in my cool pack and fancy Depends, Paul and Heidi cut the cord together. Then we snuggled forever... She did have some fluids in her lungs and we suctioned everything out we could, but she did get dusky twice and the baby nurse (she is a RN at the birthing center and was in LD and NICU for 10 years before that) helped to get that stuff out, we got her some oxygen to break it up and she spits it all out now. It just happens to some babies, it was scary, but we are watching her closely. I took a sitzbath while MIL and Paul showed Eloise to Jona who hugged her and was really sweet. Taking a shower afterwards made me feel like a human again, though I still am unbelieving about what just happened, how she was born, and all. We left the birthing center 5 hours after she was born for a hotel suite with 2 bedrooms for MIL/bf and us. MIL helped out so much which was great (she's now flying back to SFO, but will come back on the 10th for a week). Jona did so well, I'm so proud of him! I can't wait though for the 24 hour checkup, and then go home. She ate tons yesterday but hasn't been willing to eat recently, just sleepy, the typical newborn stage so I undress her to make uncomfy to wake up and eat.... Let's see what the midwives have to say about that. I'm worried that my milk supply won't be good if she doesn't latch on every 3 hours. I might rent a pump for a couple days to get this going, but maybe I'm just too impatient, after all most newborns get to that sleepy stage...

I must say that this experience is much different from Jona's birth. While labor was easier, the pushing was much harder with her due to the pubic bone pain, but being surrounded by 4 women who helped me through the experience was wonderful (midwife, student midwife, RN, doula). The care was great, and the postpartum time there was awesome too (did I mention all the food and drink I got - good food that is, all organic and vitamin water and organic juices, they made me drink a gallon in 3 hours I think!). Hubbie better cater to me like that at home, because the only thing I currently have to deal with are afterpains, which are surprisingly horrible. I hope they wear off soon. It's like labor all over!

Yay, congratulations, Anna! Can't wait to see pics of the wee one!

Madeleine has her first day of daycare today. I'm back to work, at home (my best client had a project waiting for me as soon as I mentioned I would be available!), so Mad-Ag will be there part time, MWF. I was dreading it and was in tears as I pulled up to the place, but she wasn't clingy in the least. The people there are so nice. When we visited a couple of weeks ago, one of the new babies, Taylor, was making eyes at Madeleine. He's three weeks older. An older man already! I thought he'd be ready to greet her on her first day, but he was sleeping in his crib! Hummph! I'm going to call around lunchtime to see how she's doing. At the time I left, she was very interested in the "overhead gym" thingy, the mat with the little arches with stuff dangling from them. We have one at home, but it's different from this one.

I guess a definite advantage of starting daycare at 3 months instead of, say, 6 months is that babies at 3 months aren't as aware of what's going on. If she'd been upset or clingy, I'm sure I would have lost it.

Thanks for all the details, Anna! Sounds like every thing went pretty much like you would have hoped so I'm glad for that. :) I, too, will be happy to see pictures when you have time.

Aww bless your heart! I think that would be really hard on me, too, but at least it is only part time. And you're like me - you NEED something else to focus on (work) to feel quasi normal. And I agree that this would be harder if she were clingy right now.

And I like Mad-Ag's style with the older man!! :D:lol:
