I am hoping to talk hubby into a "vase-cation" hehe, to make it more appealing to him. Like sending him and his buddy to Vegas and they can get it done there. He is absolutely scared to death of having anyone touch his privates haha. He believes it will do permanent damage to ehm performance and stuff. So I have a lot of work ahead of me.

I am 90% sure I am done after 2 kids. I just can't imagine putting 3 children through school and OMG the travel bills to go to Germany. If we had a 3rd child it would be a few years down the road so hopefully by then the hubby is snipped.

Until then it's going to be the pill, never had major issues with it other than that it didn't work when I got pregnant with Ben.

Anna: where do you buy evening primrose oil and how does it work? My midwife has warned me about that stuff, but chances are this baby is a 10 pounder, so I'd be more than happy to give birth somewhere around 38 weeks.

Evi: what is EPO?

@ Steffi: EPO is evening primrose oil... They warn you to not use it before 37 weeks as it contains prostaglandins... So it just effaces you, and my midwife thinks I'm probably pretty effaced anyways given to my history and this being the second baby. So far I just took the pill, but apparently you can insert it over night too and it does its job... I haven't dared yet but might try tonight, lol. I'm also drinking my pregnancy tea with a stronger component of red raspberry leaf since it is supposed to tone your uterus... I do have contractions on and off that are just crampy I guess. I have a hard time sleeping since all my bones hurt and mostly my belly at the front part of the uterus just above the cervix.

Hubbie is very open to the snipsnip, I just have to figure out the better method....

Everyone is affected differently by hormones, but I didn't do well with it. I noticed that already in Germany, but the obgyn said nonsense that cannot be a side effect, then I switched obgyns and the new one was better and said yes, can and does happen... I don't like messing with hormones anymore unless completely necessary. I've really minimized medication overall.

And yeah girls are usually smaller :) Nobody is worried about my ability to push out this one, as Jona was tiny, yet his head was well sized and he had his hand in front of his face which makes for a bigger circumference to push out...

How do I get hubby open to the idea of the snip snip? LOL He was not at all impressed with the idea. I don't know that a 'vase-cation' would work for him because he really has no friends here in the US - at least none that he would want to go on a trip with.

Tracy: maybe get some info from a doctor, some stuff that emphasizes the pros and that it doesn't hurt, how minimal invasive the procedure is vs a tubal ligation, how quick recovery is and that it doesn't affect his "output" or anything at all.

You may have to tie him down to listen to you, though, haha. Whenever I bring that up hubby covers his ears, starts screaming and runs.

Anna: ok, where do you buy that stuff? Idk, I'd want to make sure baby is in the right position and is that safe to use?

OMG I am so tired of all that snow! We are getting another 6-10 inches today-tomorrow and they are doing a horrible job clearing the roads. My car got stuck on my way to work during the last storm and I had to dig it out at 5 in the morning. It takes me 2 hours to get to work in a snowstorm and that doesn't even include 20 minutes of shoveling the driveway. I think a few more of those and I will go into premature labor. I can't drive anywhere without a snow shovel in case the damn van gets stuck again.

@ Steffi: Yes it is safe... Obgyns just don't want you to take it early, as it might bring on labor, but midwives also don't want you to take it til it is time to have baby! Most docs don't believe it does anything. It is basically an omega 6 supplement - it has lots of those fatty acids but happens to contain some prostaglandins as well. You can find it at health food stores, my midwives sell it at their office too. I got the version that was on sale at my Natural Grocer's... And Eloise has been head down since 20 weeks... She still is, facing my spine, the midwife could tell by just palpating my belly and yesterday's ultrasound confirmed it. :) Also trying other things that have once again brought on crampy contrax, but nothing more.

We have luckily now snow around here much this year. It's cold and windy, but no snow. So we're good to go to Denver :)

good luck with everything!! I'm so excited for you and Kelly, you are finally there!! I still have at least 5 weeks to go. I sometimes think on days like today when I am home and trying to "rest" I am way more exhausted than when I work. How long is the drive to Denver? I hope you make it there in time! I would be so nervous to give birth in the car, haha.

My wife isn't even at 20 weeks yet and she woke me up early this morning to clean her car because of the snow. She said she's not supposed to do it since she's pregnant. I ran the wipers once and the snow was cleared. I think she's taking advantage of the situation

@ Steffi: 90 minutes with no traffic, 120 minutes with traffic (thank God that they have an HOV lane there... otherwise, yikes)... I know what you mean, I'm not working currently, but sometimes I make hubbie watch Jona while I clean the house, the cleaning is relaxing compared to chasing a toddler... I just hurt too bad. But hubbie is like never at home :crying:

Oh Lisa, that's great - how exciting!! :) :) I'm still swearing off an 'official decision' for a few more months yet, but I'm really leaning towards being done. I'll be 40 in May and that's messing with my head big time as far as thinking about having another. I know women do it all the time, but for me, being a new mom past 40 feels like I'm pushing it.

I was on the BCP for YEARS before we tried to conceive DD and I never noticed it effecting me, esp. not my libido!! So its come as a surprise to me to be where I am now, basically no libido. I'm really not sure the BCP's hormones are the entire culprit, but I still think it makes sense to eliminate it as a possibility. Plus at my age, it's probably not a bad idea to ditch hormones all together if I can and let my body take care of itself.

I think you will relate to this...of course, the man and I actually would LOVE another child, but the final factor in deciding was the fact that we are in our 30s, and 40 years from now...who's Nick gonna have? And I'm an only child, and he has a sister that we doubt wants kids, so basically, he's the new young frontier of our family, and I don't want him to go through it with no one near his age. And event hought I am an only child, I went thru my childhood with cousins 2 houses away, so I wasn't lonely like most only children.

Btw, have you ever thought the libido issue has to do with just being plain dog-TIRED? lol Maybe it has nothing to do with hormones, maybe it's just balancing work, baby, hubby, home, etc. That's a lot on a plate.

after they found a non-cancerous mass on my liver last year, the doctor said I shouldn't take the BC pill anymore as he said it could possibly make it grow bigger.. just to be clear they say I was possibly born with the mass, it wasn't caused by the BC pill..

anywho, we have been using condoms since then but hubby isn't crazy about using them... I am not sure what our other options are... I was fine with the pill, it didn't seem to affect my hormones or anything and I liked being on it because it regulated my period.. when I am not on the pill my period is all over the place..

I have no idea if we are going to try for another baby again.. my hubby isn't pressuring me but I know he would like to try again.. I am just really scared that I am going to loose another baby.. I really couldn't handle that...

we are considering adoption, I think it would be really awesome to give a child a loving home who might not have one otherwise... my husband mentioned surrogacy but that costs a bundle so not really sure that is an option for us...

anywho, sorry for being long winded.. I have to schedule an appointment for my annual womanly check-up soon so I plan on asking the doctor for options but it would be nice to get some options from you gals first..

Well I have some disappointing news....I went in for my sizing ultrasound and Salma had flipped into the breech position. I am beyond devastated and feel SO cheated. I feel like after pushing out Zaid (9lbs posterior) I earned a chance for a 2nd easy delivery. The baby measured close to 8lbs so the OB doesnt really think there is a chance of her flipping back down. I go Friday for an NST and will schedule my csection for Monday the 30th. (They will check one more time before the operation to ensure she is still breech) In the meantime I am going to look into spinninbabies.com and see if theres anything I can do to assist her in moving head down. I wont be getting my hopes up though. I cried, and I think Im over it now.

I am still hardly a finger tip dilated and high. Even if I do get a chance at a vaginal delivery, it would probably be an induction anyways.

@Kelly Don't give up hope. The u/s tech at the hospital told me she has even seen twins turning at 38 weeks right before delivery. If full-term twins can turn, so can Ms. Salma!

aww Kel hugs!! Just remember, healthy mommy, healthy baby is all what counts and matters. wow crazy to think that in just a week from now you'll have your baby girl! :) I hope all goes well, either way, maybe she will turn but honestly in most cases at full term she may not. Are you past 39 weeks by monday? In NY they don't deliver/induce before 39 weeks in case she could turn. Good luck, I'll be thinking about you!!

Marilyn: my MIL had a similar history like you. She lost a few babies, some later in her pregnancies and I don't think this is something you will ever really get over. :( She decided to adopt 2 children. Then she got pregnant, unplanned and was able to carry the baby (my hubby :luv: ) to full term. So you never know what could happen, although these days there are so many more options medically.

Did you have a cerclage with your last baby? It must be very hard to make any decisions. Adoption is certainly an option, there are so many children out there who need parents. Personally I think I'd probably go that route before I would consider surrogacy. Don't know but that's a personal choice.
