Kelz – I hear you. I hate being unhealthy, (I sigh as I just ate 2 donuts – damn that Krispy Kreme!!!!). If you have weight to lose, I found that pregnancy is an awesome time to do it. To me, if you are on the plus side, your body has weight to spare. Talk to your doctor about putting you on a monitored 1,600 to 2,000 calorie diet and you will see that the weight will just drop off you. The baby will consume your fat stores and as long as you're putting good stuff into your body you both will be just fine.

One other reason to totally monitor your calories and weight when you're pregnant is the gestational diabetes factor and the ultra dangerous pre-eclampsia from HBP.

WTG on giving up the little cancer sticks. They are dreadful and EXPENSIVE!!!!

All the best to you, sister! We're all in this together – preggo or not! ;)

:crying::crying: I thought it's a good time to lose weight too but I've already gained like 15 lbs (not counting the 5 I lost during the fist 3 months and gained it all back in a week) I dont need to lose but I dont wait to gain that much, I know it's ok but it's freaking me out :crying: I'm now at 140 lbs

Today was Kavi's 2 yr checkup(a couple weeks after turning 2). It went fine. He weighs a little over 29 lbs, Dr said that was a little above average, which is nice since he used to be below avg for weight. He is 36 inches tall, which the Dr said was tall for his age. No shots today, yay!

As for getting healthy...I am with you girls. I weighed the most ever about 6 months before I got pregnant with Kavi. Before I got pregnant, I lost about 13 lbs very slowly, through exercise and reducing calories(not majorly, but enough). It was baby steps.

So then I got pregnant, and gained about 40lbs by the end of pregnancy. I didn't have gest. diabetes or high BP thankfully. Since I wasn't skinny to begin with, I didn't really care about weight gain as much, I just didn't want to gain over 40lbs. I lost maybe 20lbs soon after having Kavi( extra water weight, baby weight gone etc). Then I started working on losing weight again. I weighed the lowest I had been in many years last Spring. Then I stalled out, didn't try as hard...over the past holiday season I gained 10 pesky lbs back. So Now I am losing those plus working on losing the rest. I have been trying again for the past almost 3 weeks and have lost about 5 lbs so far. I am going to keep going! I would like to be in better shape and weigh less when I turn 30 this year than when I was 20. (I wasn't skinny at 20 either, but weighed less than now). I haven't been "skinny" since I was a very young child! It's foreign to me.

Awwwwwww, Anya - I was only speaking about losing weight if you were heavier. If you're slim, you shouldn't attempt to lose weight while you're pregnant. A healthy weight gain during pregnancy is 20-30 lbs. :D

Zaidsmommy: 6 days without cigarettes is great.... I always said during college I'll quit once I've finished grad school, but sort of knew it was a lame excuse. But then I met hubby in my last year at grad school and he HATES smokers.... So I quit for him, to be with him and also for my own sake... I went cold turkey and it was great. A couple years later, months before we conceived, we went to a party and he was like hey try a cigarette just for fun and old time's sake, to see what it tastes like now. It was awful and I nearly puked. It tastes so gross if you are not smoking anymore. BTW when I stopped, I purposely smoked a cigarillo last - the taste is YUCKY and makes you not wanna smoke for a while. I didn't put on weight after quitting (my mom's old excuse, she smoked to stay skinny and finally gave up on it 6 years ago).

The weight gain was a roller coaster for me. I lost quite a bit in the beginning and then gained the weight later on... Altogether 28 pounds and I was "allowed" to gain more since I started at 107 pounds. I don't really buy into the guidelines, I think they are rough, and every woman is different. My MIL gained 50 pounds during each pregnancy and easily lost them afterward (she nursed her first two but not my hubby, and said that was the toughest without the nursing to loose weight). SIL just gained 55 pounds during her last pregnancy and just 4 weeks post baby lost more than half! I just think I wouldn't fret about gaining more or less than what "they" want, it's not like we are all the same "model"!

I'm very much looking forward to trying again in spring and starting prenatal care at the birthing center with the midwives. It's the perfect place for me to be and so nice and homey! My friend is due-ish in the next 3 weeks and will use the place and I will come along if hubbie is at home to watch Jona (I'll act as a friend-doula).

Im taking a shower at ohhh about 6am this morning and hear some noises. I called for Zaid (he was sleeping when I started my shower) and he didnt respond so I assumed it was the dog and finished showering. I dry off, open the shower curtain, and see Zaid sitting in the bathroom floor. As soon as I saw him he says "HI MOMMY" LOL He mustve been sitting there for about 10 mins or so and just didnt say a word. Im sure we will have more toddler bed experiences but this was just so darn funny.

that made me smile. so cute. i can't wait to hear Ben say ''hi mommy'' or ''oi mamae'' (portuguese)

...We are going March 24th-April 12th(won't be back in the US til April 13th). It's hard for Suj's family to only see Kavi once a year, but I guess that is good compared to people who have to wait longer in between visits. :( He changed so much since last year. They know that from seeing pictures and webcam of him, but seeing him in person will be more of a shock to them I bet, with how much he grew and everything! I am excited about the trip. We will be there for about 2.5 weeks, but gone for almost 3 weeks with the traveling.

we're almost traveling at the same time. we're going to Brazil March 26th-April 11th, and in my case, it'll be the first time my family and friends will see the almost toddler baby who'll be turning 1 year old. Have fun and enjoy.

so I got the breastpump, won a brand new one on ebay for $200.00 which seemed like a much better deal than anywhere else. Got it home, it's completely sealed, new in the box. I got the Medela Pump In Style Advanced. Anyone ever use this?

I have the electric double pump, is that the one? i loved it, it always worked great, i paid almost 300 but it was totally worthy, specially because at work it would save me time.

...sorry for ranting, guess im just realizing im pretty disappointed in myself. On a good note, 6 days without cigarettes and its not even phasing me!! woohoo

good deal on the cigarettes. and good luck on your getting healthy plan. it doesn't matter the reason, getting healthy is always good for you and the others around you.

i gained 38 lbs on my 2nd trimester. that was it. 0 on the 1st and 0 on the third. people are different. don't obsess about the weight. 15 lbs is nothing, seriously.

Hello lovely ladies,

I posted on here before, when I was worried about conceiving with irregular periods. Well, it has not been a year yet, but it has been about 4 months since we have been TTC, and nothing yet! I still missed my period though for the last cycle, I had it the one before it, but tests are all negative. I have had a fertility check up done, the blood work came back fine. The only issue I had two months back was a possible PID (ultrasound diagnosis), so I was given antibiotics for 7 days for that, and it cleared up. I know it may be too early to get worried, but any suggestions/advice would help!

Visa Journey completed, but we are still here to provide support! :)

Marm - try the natural family planning. I have friends who had endometriosis and used it. It helped them to conceive. Best of luck! :star:

anya like others said, I wouldn't worry about the weight gain right now. :) You seem to be doing very well.

Oh yeah that is pretty close traveling dates! I am sure your family will go ga-ga over Ben. When we went last year it was a few weeks after Kavi turned 1, so around the same age Ben will be. Have fun!

Have fun traveling Stina and Nessa :) We are going to Canada in August and I cannot wait for Declan's relatives to see him again.

Kel - You can do it!!! Congrats on giving up the ciggies. We can support each other with the trying to get healthy thing .... I need to also. I was wonderful during the pregnancy, but when Declan had his surgery, totally stress ate and gained a bunch and haven't lost it.

@ Nizzy - LOL, so many people think Declan's name is pronounced like that. His doctor's office FINALLY got it right.

Good luck with school and all .... how much longer do you have to go?

I gained over 50lbs in the first pregnancy and lost it pretty fast. I was always skinny, never had a problem, so it was kind of weird having the doc yell at me every single time when I went for the checkup, saying I am getting too fat. I wasn't too concerned with it because I had a good pregnancy and felt ok. And it really came off fast. So I do think that really everyone is different you shouldn't take the weight limits too seriously as long as you eat healthy and feel good.

Anna: wow I am shocked now, I never pictured you as a smoker!! lol.

Marm: good luck... 4 months isn't too long yet, hang in there.

Nessa: what, wow Ben is almost 1 year old now?? Crazy how time flies!!

@Stina: I'm sure the fam in India really appreciates it you trying to blend in, cute pics! Are they very strict in India about the dresscode for women? I am really fascinated by this country, I wish the flight wasn't so long, I really want to see it someday. Have a safe trip!
