Okay ladies .... those who are my Facebook friends, please check out my profile for a link to vote for Declan in a local Cute Kids contest. And for those who aren't my facebook friends ..... come friend me :)

The prize for the contest is a photo session with an amazing photographer. We're late to the game, because I just learned about this, so we need all the votes we can get.

Thanks ladies for the info on formula prices at other places. We get ours at Walmart - Parent's Choice premium (Enfamil equivalent) which is $11.88 per can. But I'll definitely look at Target around here and see if they can beat it - I'd be surprised, but if they did -- BONUS! Unfortunately, no Costco close by. :(

ETA Only you ladies can appreciate this. I am sitting at work, unshowered. UGH!! Emily decided to wake at 4:30, and as I was getting up and ready for a shower, hubby was JUST getting her back to sleep. I didn't want to wake her with the shower and hair dryer noise, so I washed the important bits in the sink, put on deodorant and came on in. I HATE it though.

Luckily my BFF lives just down the road from work so I'm leaving in a few mins to go shower at her house. My head feels so greasy and gross

We use the Costco (Kirland) formula. It's $17 for a 36-oz can. :star:

You can order it online if you don't live near a Costco. Membership is $50 a year but would pay for itself quickly! A 3-pack of these cans is $55, delivered.

I love Costco, even though I can't get outta there without blowing at least $200.

That's good to know. I *think* once you do the math on what we spend on the Parent's Choice (though smaller cans than Costco's), it would come out about the same. But I'll have hubby double check that for sure (I'm no math whiz).

The 'pays for itself' comment always reminds me of this joke:

A blonde got all new double glazed windows at her house...She makes all the monthly payments for the first year, then stops. Salesman calls her up to find out why, she says 'HELLLL-LLLLO? You said after a year they'd pay for themselves, duh'

*wokka wokka*

*apols to my blonde mommy friends*

How many oz is the $11.88 can, and how much do you go through in a month?

The $11.88 can has 23.2 oz of formula in it., according to Walmart.com Walmart used to have the 36 oz cans for a few weeks but now all the sudden they don't anymore. I think it was close to $18, like Costco's.

I wish I were better at keeping track of what she goes through, but I'd say now she's at about a can a week, maybe a little more. She is slowing down a bit, though, as we are supplementing with cereal and other foods so my calculations are out of whack. I'd say she was doing more like 2 cans a week when she was on formula only.

The WM brand is roughly $.51 an oz, compared to Costco's $.47 oz. I was gonna work out how much it was per oz with the membership fee in, and how long it would take that it was a factor, but tbh, I'm too tired ;)

I'm piggy-backing on my MIL's cosco account... Our next Cosco is in Denver, so quite a drive, but you can order online and we do go to Denver every now and then. Cosco has so many bulk organic things (meat, fruits, veggies - frozen) it is really worth it. And their online selection is really good too. We got an awesome heated blanket, microfleece, king size, the new technology (no cables inside) for $90 from there last year... And since they ship it to Wyoming, no sales tax since there are no stores here, hehehehe.

I just ordered Jona's new car seat, the Radian XTSL. It's supposed to arrive on Thursday (I have Amazon Prime)... We should install it asap, Jona hit the rear facing maximum weight of his Britax Boulevard (35lb!).

Is Cosco like a BJ's? We have a Bj's membership, and we buy diapers & wipes there with the coupons they send us. The BJ's in our new neighborhood isn't as nice as the one in Westchester though, so we haven't used it much lately since Ben is potty trained. I didn't see any organic stuff there either, other than the "fake" soy chickennuggets (these are soo good, neither hubby nor Ben know that they're not real muhahaha)

@ Steffi: Yes, but way better than BJ's. Costco (I think it's spelled like that, ooopsie in my earlier posts) has such a great variety and selection... I love love love it. We had it all over in CA in all the cities we lived... And now it's worth to me to make the occasional trip to Denver (which has the awesome malls anyways, lol). Ours is right at the exit to the airport, so there's an excuse to go whenever we pick people up or drop em off... (often!)

Tonight is Jona's first night in his crib converted to a toddler bed... Let's see how it works. He kept asking for it to be "auf" (open), so we'll give it a try! Naptime already changed into quiet time (crib open, he's in his room with Garfield) and it works well now.

Good Luck Anna! Hope it went well with Jona. Zaid has been sleeping in our bed almost 7 months now and 2 nights ago we transitioned him back to his own room in his bed and hes slept the past 2 nights in it! Im happy. For *some* things, hes such an easy kid.

After many many months of being healthy (not even a runny nose) Zaid has come down with something :( Seems like its just gonna be a bad cold virus because hes been sneezing and coughing for about 24 hours now with no fever or lethargy. I really just hate it when hes sick. He also doesnt have good manners about covering when he sneezes so I just KNOW im going to get it. If i was congested while giving birth Id be REAL sad :(

I saw the OB yesterday. Still no dilation, only slight thinnning. My BP was somewhat normal and baby looked good on the NST BUT I am retaining about 7-9lbs of waterweight from the morning to the night time. The doctor didnt seem real worried about it but good god after not gaining any weight this pregnancy to see 9lbs in 3 days broke my heart

@ Kelly: It worked well, I just don't know how much he slept. When I went into his room the light was on and he was playing... But I was up several times at night, as always these days and didn't see any light... He's been in his room since 13 months and does fine with it, but it's good to have the toddler bed now, if he wakes up early he can play a little... And we'll tackle the potty training once we are all settled in with Eloise so it's good for him to be able to get up at night and go to the bathroom (the potty comes with one of those toilet seats for kids, but for now I wouldn't even mind having to clean it in the morning as long as he uses it!!!!!)....

Don't worry about the water retention weight, as you will literally pee it out post partum. I had some water retention with Jona and without even drinking gallons I had to go to the bathroom the first 5 days like every hour and was like huh where does this come from?! The body sheds the swelling water real fast. I'm glad your BP is stable and there seems to be no protein concerns.... Effacement is quite a big deal, even if you're not dilated, effacement is half the work of opening up your cervix. I have no idea what's going on as we're not doing cervical checks unless there would be a medical condition... I have some Braxton's but that's about it. Today is a full moon, which has me a tad excited and worried at the same time, cause I went into labor after full moon with Jona... But I'd really love to reach 38 weeks.

@Kelly: Allie has come down with something too. She's been running a fever, thick mucousy cough and a constantly runny nose. Went to the doc with her today and she said it's a bad bronchiolitis (she would almost consider it pneumonia). Poor baby. The doc also said that Allie might have Asthma, if her breathing doesn't get better after she turns three...argh.
