Steffi: I know it is easy for me to say, but stay positive! Don't take the peds at work too seriously. My MD sister always talks about the worst case scenario, I think that's what a lot of docs just do. They don't realize how much they creep you out with that... What Kelly's friend said sounds much more common and reasonable. When is your appointment?

Thank you! yeah it doesn't help much when you're preggers and all hormonal to begin with... I'm in between :crying: and optimistic. I was hounding the pediatricians at work today, and they were concerned too. OMG one of them said "could be lymphoma" er thanks doc... I wish I could fast forward to thursday, the waiting and not knowing is killing me. I wish I was like hubby, he's always so positive and calm.

Vi: wow congrats on your business! So glad you're busy with something you like doing. That sounds like such a fun job! What do you do when you run out of supplies? Good excuse to return to Peru? :P

It's funny you mentioned that 'cause it happened to me already once, I had to put the business on stand by but thank God my bff came here on her Honey Moon and brought me tons and I mean Tons of supplies, her mom is the one who taught me how to make the chocotejas and she has her own business in Lima so she knows all the details abt it. I'm bringing more supplies on this next trip, lots and lots of peruvian chocolate, I can find the almond, pecans and raisins here. I'm taking this very serious so I want to start my own product, with a name and everything so we will see, and of course there is always a excuse to go back home :star:

Hi Mommies!

I finally did it - I completed my Associates in Business yesterday  I know it's a very humble graduation, but just wanted to share :)

Sebas is doing wonderful and getting so big. I love watching his game develop. He likes to line up his bath toys on the edge of the tub, knock them down and start again. Not a lot of talking yet, just dada, mama, bye and oh-oh. I can hear his babbling becoming more complex so I'm hoping he'll start talking soon. Here's his latest picture

If anybody's looking for a language learning system for their LOs, I got Muzzy's for Sebas for Christmas. I remember watching these same videos when I was little (the english program), and I loved them! I can still remember some of the songs!

early advantage

Hubby is doing good - he's getting golf clubs for Christmas :P also planning a big party because he's turning 30 in January. I'm next in line in May :help:

Work is crazy, busiest season of the year and we're about to open a new line so we need to hire a lot of people before January

Praying for Ben (F) I'm sure everything will be fine

@Vi: love it! Congrats on starting your own business. Plus, now any trips to Peru are tax deductible :P

On hospital stay: My nurse woke me up every 3 hours like a clock to feed the baby - one particular night I was really tired, finally sleeping after having missed three nights of sleep (first 2 nights I was in labor and third night I was on an adrenaline rush after having the baby), we were all sleeping really hard (specially Sebas!) and in comes the nurse to wake us all up  During the day it was even crazier, between EKGs, pedi, hearing testing, nurse, photographer offering hospital photo keepsakes, people were coming in and out non stop. Next time I'm bringing a do not disturb sign

Saludos,

Caro

Thank you. He is otherwise super healthy, so I am trying to think positive.

Caro: wow Sebastian is so cute! He is getting so big! :luv: Congrats on your Associates, great job!!

About the disturbing- there is a ton of work in those 2 short days in postpartum. Just the paperwork for the birth certificate, discharge papers, newborn screenings etc. We have to get it done and we are requird to chart at certain times. I try to bundle it all and go over everything while I do the baby&mommy assessment. if all parents would listen and do their part of filling out the papers I'd have to pop in less often to make sure they get it done in time for discharge. :P I'd rather sit at the desk and put my feet up instead of having to run into someones room 10 times to remind them to watch the shaken baby video/sign something or change the kid's diaper. If the parents do their part I leave them alone and we check everything off during the vitals/assessment and they get their rest.

:lol: haha you're funny!! I was called in to do a night shift last night and boy I really felt bad but I had to pop into this one room all the time bc her baby was grunting and having some respiratory issues so I had to do extra sets of vitals and the hearing screen etc. This poor mommy didn't get much sleep in between the feedings/diaper changes, then the baby had a temp and I had to draw CBC on him -it was just constant interruption but there was just nothing I could have done about it. I totally agree that every new mommy needs as much sleep and rest as possible but sometimes it just doesn't work that way.

In Germany the average hospital stay after a vaginal delivery is 4 days, it's a lot less stressful to get all the screenings done in time for discharge, here it's just constant interruptions because there are so many tests, so much charting and paperwork to cover my a s s and so little time to do it all.

In my defense tho- I hang my IV's in the dark, I assess& medicate in the dark, I empty foleys in the dark, I swaddle in the dark etc etc- just need my little flashlight. There are nurses who go into a room at 2:30 am turn on the lights, bump into things use their "outside voices" or talk on the phone, not even realizing the amount of noise they're making. That's not cool.

Tomorrow is Ben's appointment. I am hoping everything will be fine. He just told me what his plans are for tommorrow- "mommy go shopping, daddy go working and Mickey Mouse is going to babysit Benny. " haha.

Steff: I know that as mom's we automatically go into freak out mode when something happens to our little ones. My nephew has a lump (lymph node) exactly where you describe Ben's and the doc told them it was harmless and it becomes more visible when he is sick. They told my bro and his wife that they have seen a lot of kids that have it. It must be so hard for your to be preg and dealing with this but definitely think positive. I will be praying for the best.

Thank you all, I will keep you posted! I really do feel a lot more optimistic now than a week ago. Must be those hormones...

LOL @Zaid! That's funny! When we went to the mall to see Santa all Ben wanted to know was "Santa, where is Mrs. Santa? Where is she?" And he made sure to tell himn to bring him lots of "toys and CHEWING GUM" WTH?

I am so excited for christmas, it's just soo much more fun with little kids!

Christmas pics with a five month old should be rather easy. He won't run off and pretent not to hear you :). Or cry because he doesn't want to stand up or sit a certain way or he won't dig in his nose, pull down his pants, take off his shoes, sneeze and have two green streams running toward his mouth, stick out his tongue or try to take down the background...so...yeah...I don't think you'll have any troubles at all. I bet the pics turn out wonderful. Enjoy it.

@Steffi: Good luck again. Hope everything is fine with Ben.
