@ Susanne - I agree, I was a bit disappointed in the aquarium too. It was fun and Declan loved it, but I expected more for it being in Boston and all.

Hubby was happy because we stopped at a British shop in Newburyport on the way down. Very pricy, but he was able to get some items he has been craving :)

Kelly: with Ben we were actually using birth control and I ended up pregnant. That's why I am really kind of nervous that it hasn't worked yet. We have been trying for over 3 months now. so weird.

Staashi: what is the rhythm method? I am really unfamiliar with all the conceiving stuff. I do know that some people take their basal temp every day. can someone give me the birds and the bees talk again?? LOL jk

Stef - natural family planning is actually amazing for charting when or when not to get preggers. It also discusses how having sex a lot isn't always a good thing because even a man's sperm becomes weaker. So, in essence - work on conceiving on your most fertile days that you chart. With a good month or two you should be well on your way.

Thanks everybody!

Sebas is better now, finally got some rest...oh happiness!

Welcome Susanne and Congrats!!

Caro@ Besitos a Sebas, hope he feels better soon :star: ,what medicine are u giving him?

They gave him oral antibiotics and some ear drops for the pain, everything worked pretty quickly thanks God

What do u think the chances of me conceiving the first cycle? We did with Zaid and I am just tooo excited I think I would be so bummed if it took a while.

Hope Sebas feels better soon <3

aaww don't stress!! The average couple takes 6 months to a year to conceive  even though it looks like us VJ mamas are a bunch of crazy fertile weirdos

I'm a firm believer that babies come at the perfect time. Take our case for example: I was convinced it would take at least 6 months, even timed it that way with school and everything. I was surprised when we got pregnant on the first try and a little worried (I'm now juggling finishing school, work and a baby!)...BUT...when we were 3 months pregnant, Justin's dad died, and then his grandmother. If we had not conceived when we did, they would have died without knowing. And I think in many ways Sebas' birth helped bring some joy into the family after two very important loses. Babies come at the perfect time :)

Saludos,

Caro

@Caro I agree :) We also thought it would take us a good 3-6 months. Well it worked right away and now I unfortunately will miss my brothers wedding in Germany. But I will not fly 34 weeks pregnant and everybody understood even though we are all a little sad. But they will be having a lot of fun with the baby for a longer time when I go gome for 4-5 weeks with tha baby :)

Glad your little one is feeling better.

@Steffi a friend of mine has been trying for quite some time as well. I think its easiest to get pregnant if you are not actually trying. Sounds weired I know but who knows. I mean look at all the teens that get pregnant with 16.

Took us about 5 months of ttc before I was pregnant. It did start feeling like a long time to me, but compared to those who try a year or longer it's not so bad!

BTW, I used fertilityfriend.com(the free part) for helpful info on timing and such and you can input info. I also researched everything ahead of time, because that is just how I am and we knew when we were going to start trying. I was impatient so I spent time researching everything possible. lol.

I also heard it can take 6-12 months, so don't panic if it doesn't work first try.

I have irregular cycles (varies from 32-36 days) so it's hard to know exactly when I'm ovulating. I am really paranoid about it though, as I heard that irregular cycles mean it will take you a long time to get pregnant - I even tried one of those OTC fertility tests (came back fine) but later found out they're pretty useless anyways at determining your actual fertility. Anyway we're not trying for at least another few months, probably longer. I'm just obsessed at the idea of becoming pregnant because for years, I believed I had a problem that meant I wouldn't have children, and turns out I'm fine. :) So I'm all neurotic that something will happen when we actually do start trying.

Charting: I use fertility friend too. You can get a basal thermometer for $10 at Walgreens or Walmart and learn more about charting in Take charge of your fertility (Toni Weschler's book - available at every library!). It's more than just your temperature, you also watch your cervical fluid (it's easy). Some women also check their cervix, but that's not necessary. Mucus and temperature are enough to check when you are ovulating. I was extremely amazed what I learned from the book and charting, and I feel I understand my body better and I know what's going on when!

Chnst, you are still nursing, that might mean you are not ovulating at all or have very short luteal phases. A short luteal phase will make it very hard for a baby to implant into the uterus (less than 10 days is considered problematic). Hubbie's cousin has been trying for over a year, and finally started charting, noticing her luteal phase to be very short (btw her obgyn said all women ovulate on day 14, oh boy is all I can say... if even the obgyn doesn't know about women's fertility!! of course she changed practitioners right away!). You can try to take vitamins and maca or directly go to the doc to get a progesterone rx for the problem. Anyways, nursing usually causes a short LP or even anovulatory cycles... You can also get OPK (ovulation predictor kits) really cheap on amazon to see if you get LH surges to pinpoint your ovulation even better... What I'm trying to say is that charting can tell you whether you ovulate, your LP is too short or everything seems fine. It can really help!

Everybody I know got pregnant right away. We all did (my sisters), so did my SIL. Her second pregnancy took 2 months though (first cycle ended with a chemical pregnancy).

Thanks for all the advice ladies. I am really not the kind of person who is so in sync with her body, like knowing when you ovulate etc... I was hoping the old-fashioned way would work. ha. I have an appointment with my midwife tomorrow, I hope she can tell me that my reproductive organs are still there and in uhm, working condition! LOL

Gemmie: I do agree that the more you obsess about it the more difficult it becomes to get pregnant. That's the main reason why I was a little skeptic about the fertility testing stuff, taking your temperature, timing everything etc.

We never really 'tried' I just stopped using birth control and VOILA! 2 periods later and I was preggo.

I have a friend who tried and tried and tried and couldn't get pregnant (fertility drugs, the whole 9)... so she finally decided to try invetro. While she was having the testing done, before getting the meds and all that, she got pregnant. She had stopped worrying about it for a while, while she was preparing for invetro.

Crazy stuff.
