Hi girls,

Anyone ordered stuff from Diapers.com before?? If you did, did you, by any chance received a free gift as well??

I ordered a Chicco pay yard and the Chicco travel system and when i got them today, they also sent me a space saver high chair from fisher price, so i assumed it was a gift and i was all happy cause i dont have a high chair....But the only problem with it was that it had a girl pattern, so i call them to see if they can replace it and they tell me it was a mistake and i have to return it :bonk::crying::crying:

OMG haha. No I'm pretty sure that wasn't a gift but a mistake... That high chair retails for $60. They don't hand out gifts like that unless they clearly stated that when you ordered your travel system. Sorry. I've ordered some stuff there before and there were no "gifts" just the option to get a magazine subscription for free and coupons. I would send it back since you don't need it anyway, but I would call and arrange something that they will pick it up and you don't have to deal with that or pay postage. They may charge your credit card for the high chair if you don't return it now that you have made them aware of their mistake.

Vi: sounds like fun, Ben loves Elmo but he totally freaks out when he sees "real people" dressed up as characters. We saw Shrek at the fair the other day and he couldn't make himself go near him, even though he is obsessed with Shrek..

sounds like we all have issues with sleeping lately. I just hope it will resolve on its own. Ben is getting a new "big boy" bedroom set delivered on thursday, with a twin bed so maybe he will like to sleep in there if I lay down with him for a few minutes.

Hey Mommies - I hope all is well. Enzo is back from Argentina and he is such a big boy - will be 19 months old on 11/1. He gets into everything and just wants the remote control or a cellphone in his hands. When he was in Argentina he didn't have a crib and just slept on a regular twin bed. He loved it and could get down from there easily. Well after a week at home, we took his crib apart and converted it into a toddler bed with the two rails - he loves it!!! He gets so happy when he goes into the bed, slept 10 hours straight - it is like he's a different child.

He is readjusting well to hearing English around him - he understands it. I'm speaking to him in English and hubby in Spanish, plus my MIL is with us and she speaks to him in Spanish. My MIL taught him how to shake hands...it was so funny, the other day I walked into the house and he comes up to me and puts his hand out to me to shake. I said, "Pleased to meet you, too." It has been so nice to have him home - he had to get used to me again, but that was quick. He now loves to give kisses, hugs and snuggles. The only tough thing right now is that I have a cold and so as much as I want to kiss him and hug him I have to keep my distance as I do not want to pass it on to him.

Other than that, I send you preggo mommas positive vibes.

Staashi: Oh wow 4 months!! That must have been so hard for you! I can't imagine letting my MIL take Ben for 2 days yet. I would go crazy. That's awesome he will be fluent in both languages.

Anya: you can be proud your baby is doing great! Ben was just like that if not bigger. Now he is at the 50% for weight and still in the 90ies for height.

Kelly: how is Zaid doing? Poor little man!! We all had the 24 hour stomach flu last thanksgiving, I really hope that it doesn't go around this year as much as last year. I never had such stomach pain and nausea. It was awful. I hope you will not catch it.

It was very hard, but my MIL has been with E since he was born, so it isn't like he was with strangers.

Hi Mommies! Sorry I've been MIA lately Hope everyone is doing well!

Re: breasfeeding. Nick wasn't gaining weight with strictly breastmilk, so we wound up having to supplement with formula. I sorta got lazy from time to time with the breastfeeding when we're out and about, because it was easier to just use the bottle. Anyhoo, now I'm having supply issues :( I am going to call my lact specialist on Monday, but I was reading up on the net last night and found a lot of information....particularly, fenugreek tablets and 'mother's milk' teas. Anyone ever use these? How were the results? Or do you have your own tried and true remedies?

Also, Nick is a little constipated...brought him to the docs on Friday, and she helped him poop. This is way descriptive and gross, so I'll 'spoiler' this;

She helped him by shallow-ly (not a word) sticking a qtip up his butt and he pushed and she kinda broke off the poop into pieces he could pass

. YUCK! But poor little man, he was crying, obviously in pain, but he immediately seemed better. The bm was on the hard side, most probs to to with the formula (suckage!), and she then said that over the weekend, we might have to do that for him again if he seems impacted.

So we had to, and we did. But now his actual butt looks sore and red. Not terribly so, that I need to rush him back to the docs...but you know how a first time nervous mother is! So we've been putting petroleum jelly on it, and that seems to help...but I was just wondering if anyone had any other advice. I looked that up too, but it's bringing me to articles on diaper rash, and while they do talk of a sore #######, I'm not convinced that I should put diaper rash ointment on it...seems like that area is too delicate? Gah, I dunno!

Btw, to follow up on one of my previous threads, my MIL sent us the Balboa Baby sling...I'm not loving it because although the pics show a baby actually laying in it, to me, Nick looks mighty uncomfy and scrunched up in it. When he gets a little older, I'm sure it'll come in handy for him to sit in it, but otherwise, I wouldn't bother so much while he's so young.

Thanks everyone! (L)

First of all...if you're having supply issues, don't supplement with formula. Feed him, feed him, feed him on the #######, that gives your body the right signals. Was he not gaining weight AT ALL or just very little? The growth charts are usually supplied by formula companies. Check out http://www.who.int/childgrowth/standards/en/ for growth charts for the breastfed baby. Some just don't gain as quickly.

Now, I'm thinking that the constipation might be from the iron in the formula. Is he otherwise taking any vitamins with iron in it? It might just be a little too much for the little man. Also, some babies have to learn how to poop right and might seem constipated because they're straining like crazy but then have liquid-y poops. They just have to figure out how the muscles work and putting a qtip in their butt (or thermometer etc) might be counterproductive. Now if he has hard poops then it's definetely constipation caused by the iron or maybe antibiotics if he got any.

I forgot but how old is your little man?

He'll be 8 weeks on Tuesday.

Thx for the advice....we had no choice but to supplement with formula. I have stayed on a breastfeeding diet from the word go...have done everything req'd of me to do so regarding diet, my vitamins, what liquids I drink, etc...and he was feeding for 30-45 mins a pop every 2 hours. My supply was supposedly great, the lact specialists all had positive things to say concerning flow and his latching on - called it 'textbook'. Yet, he was almost 4 weeks old, and not even back up to his birth weight (bw was 7 lbs 5 oz) at that point!!! Believe me, I wanted nothing more than to solely breastfeed, but that is reaching alarming proportions. I even started supplementing every breastfeed with 2 oz pumped breastmilk (for the hindmilk aspect)...that didn't work. He was gaining 1 oz a week! So basically, I've already been supplementing a month now, he has since gained the weight he needs, thank God. I would like to find a balance between the two - I'm going to be going back to work soon, and cannot devote literally half my day breastfeeding.

He's taking no other vitamins, other than what he may get through me. He's previously not had any pooping problems, either. The Q tip thing from the doc was only to open the ####### a little more and break off the hard poop in segments so that he could pass it, because he was terribly impacted :( We had to do it once because he was sat there straining, and it turned out there was a hard bit of poop that he couldn't pass.

Aaaw, poor little man. I'm sorry he's so constipated and miserable. I'm sure you're doing everything possible to keep the breastfeeding going. Maybe you can throw in one or two pumping sessions a day and other than that breastfeed when you have the time. Everything else can be supplemented with formula maybe?

Hang in there...you'll find your way and as for the sore rectum..I swear by Desitin (the purple tube). That usually cleared up any rash or redness within hours.

Good luck
