I'm in Florida, too, and we had Enzo's within a week and that is because we didn't go sooner. :star:

We should totally have a FL mommy meetup one of these days :)

MARM - agree with Staashi, though I feel like a hypocrite for saying to just breathe and relax, because I was a worrying mess of goo. lol.

Btw mommies - here's a free Halloween collage deal from Sears. Dunno how 'worth it' it is to each of you - we went yesterday and the photog was pretty worthless. Then they offer you packages, of course - the photo cd for about 10 pics was $200. But we did walk out with three very cute, free photos. Will post the photos once I scan them.

Thanks for the important information Staashi & Happy Bunny. What I meant to say is that I am not interested in genetic testing when I look at family history on both sides, but I will undergo all the screening tests that are general procedure during pregnancy. Pregnancy does keep you on your toes!

Visa Journey completed, but we are still here to provide support! :)

We did the family history and we felt the same as you...we also did the genetic bloodwork, u/s, and found no abnormal markers and there was nothing visible on the U/S , so at that point we opted at that point to not take it further ie amnio, etc....

and as to the contest: I registered and voted. And I also entered Nicholas into the contest for next month...so I'll be a pita here to all my mommy crew next month for votes, lol.

Ahh I was thinking about putting Sam in it too, well I'm not gonna do it the same month as you then

I was not going to do Gap baby contest - seems like $1000 in gift certificate for Gap baby is just not worth it for me..

Soooo....... my sister took her baby to see a doctor for his one month check up - he gained about 5-6 lbs in a month and the doctor said he gain too fast so she wanted her to feed him less.... I couldnt believe this... my gosh, and she's exclusively breast feed. He's super long though and thin too... I couldnt believe a doctor said that  this in in Thailand btw, at a very expensive top hospital in Bangkok. Has anybody heard a comment like this before?

Yeah right...put a baby on a diet. I hope your sister doesn't take that advise and just keeps feeding him as much as he likes. How old is he and how much does he weigh? I have heard of babies not being able to get insurance because they were too heavy at birth but good ol media attention pressured the insurance company into insuring after all.

Adam was born 8lbs 14oz and at five weeks he weighed 13 lbs even. Yes he was a butterball but he outgrew it. He's very lean now and even has little abs.

lol @ little abs , that's so cute

Anyway, my sister is still BF him like normal. every 2-3 hours. At first I thought she feed him like every hour so I can partly understand why the doctor wants her to feed him less but if he's already on 2-3 hours, that's none sense. Jasper (my sis's son) were born about 7 lbs (it's in gram and I forgot how much) and now he's about 5.7 kg (about 12.5 lbs). He is about 5 weeks old. Not like he's fat - he's super long too. I think if the doctor heard hoe much my Sam weight she's probably has a heart attack ahahaah (he should be abour 17-18 lbs, ~26 inches long at16 weeks old)

Zaid gained 4lbs in a month when he was born, its not abnormal. He is now a tall lean boy. Doctors are so dumb.

@Marm...We didnt do genetic testing with my son, and he was perfectly healthy, thank god.

With this baby, I opted to do genetic testing and thank god I did. At 19 weeks I found out my baby had cysts on her brain. Choroid plexus cysts are common in trisomy 18 babys but because my genetic testing results were already back and my risks of trisomy were 1:10,000 my OB wasnt concerned at all. She told me had I not done the tests and not known my risks I would have been recommended for an amnio, something I would have NEVER done.

:( I hope she's ok. Vi, did you ever find dulce de leche??? If you have any Argentine specialty stores in NYC, I swear by either Sancor or La Serenissima. Those are my two favorites. There is one for posteria and one that is estilo colonial I think. Mmmmmmmmmmmm...now I need to make tostadas with butter and dulce de leche, and have a cafe con leche to drink.:luv:

@ Argentine girls: my grandma in law makes dulce de leche out of condensed milk I think. She makes huge batches and then sends it out to everyone among some treats she buys at Hispanic stores which exist like sand on a beach in the San Francisco area (chocolate with dulce, oh and Mate). Maybe that's an idea too? She said it's easy, you just boil the milk til only caramel prevails and fill it in jars, keep it in the fridge.

@ Marm: Relax :) You can always pick and choose tests.. E.g. we choose very little testing, yet I asked for specific tests that are not routinely offered (e.g. toxoplasmosis and 5th disease and chickenpox titers). It really depends on your specific situation and wishes... It's a lot of ultrasounds there, make sure your insurance covers them! They bill those really exorbitantly high (I saw $1400 for Jona's anatomy scan in 2008!).

@ MIssbollinger: Welcome to team pink, haha. ;) So it's Kelly, you and me now with little girls. Though I'm still not 100% convinced. I think I need 3D ultrasound shots as proof, lol.

Oh boy, second pregnancies are different... I needed to move up a bra size already. I'm only able to wear sports bras now, everything else bugs me so much as Eloise's feet are in my ribs and underwire bras just hurt so badly... So I had to buy size M sports bras at Walmart... Btw Target has nursing bras on sale. But that's too early now, I think this time my chest will even swell bigger than last time.

We're also starting to interview doulas soon. There are actually some that charge only $100, as a military favor, which is really cheap for a doula. That's so nice.

Here's the three best photos from Nick's Halloween shoot at Sears:

Funnily enough, here's a teeny story for you: when we first found out we were pregnant, it was January....a few days after we found out, we were walking through Macy's, so Scott wanted to go to the baby dept. These two outfits were on a big clearance rack of all sorts of stuff. Obviously in Jan, we had no clue what the sex was, so I picked these two outfits out, and we bought them. It was the first two things we bought the baby. They've hung in the closet since January, and everytime I'd get dressed, I'd see them. It has been an exciting year going to the closet every day and seeing them...esp when I didn't feel or look pregnant (in the beginning). I'd always wonder what my baby would look like wearing them. Now, it's kinda surreal seeing the outfits worn...I dunno, I'm getting all emo right now, lol. Hope I'm making sense!

soo. We had our ultrasound today. It's another BOY! I was a little sad initially to be honest I was really hoping for a girl. But I am so happy everything looks great and that Ben is going to have a little brother. :) I am really excited now that we know the gender. Hubby is already rallying for a third child or a girl pet. :bonk::lol: But they made me a high risk pregnancy today bec of my pelvis situation. It still bothers me, and the high risk doc thinks that it will get a lot worse as the baby gains weight and that my hips are already too unstable and I will have to see an orthopedic surgeon. So the worst case scenario is that I will need surgery to pin my hips and pelvis back together and then it would probably mean no more pregnancies. So far I can manage the pain, so I hope I will make it thru the pregnancy without the wheelchair or any complications. But its a little scary.

Other than that I totally forgot to ask about my due date! The baby weighs 13 ounces and the ultasound tech said she is estimating me at 21 +?? weeks, my ob said yesterday 20 weeks. So I guess it will be a surprise. :D

Vi: we bought a house in Orange County. It's about an hour north of NYC. So far it's very different from Westchester but I love it. It's very country yet the city isn't too far away. I was in the Bronx today with the hubby and it's so nice to come home and enjoy the quiet and the beautiful trees. i guess I'm getting old! haha!

@Happy Bunny: awwww how cute is that! The pictures came out great! It's so nice to finally use these outfits!
