I have a Didymos which is sort of like the Moby, but I haven't used it yet. With Jona I used a Babyhawk carrier which is easy peasy to learn. But once one masters the Didy or Moby, it is great. I have heard so many great things from other mamas!

Haha, I sent the ultrasound pic to my sister (she is a MD, but seriously not an obgyn who ever looks at prenatal ultrasounds) and she claims one cannot see the gender in the pic... Instead of admitting that she lacks experience ;) Oh well!

Congrats Anna on your girl :)

So, I am on Day 4 of constant Declan time in an unfamiliar environment filled with breakable knickknacks (staying at my mom's place). I am on constant vigil here because there is so much he can break or get hurt on. I feel like a wimp complaining and I am absolutely amazed by single moms. I think the hard thing is just the environment. Plus he has not been napping. I cannot wait to get home! He was pretty good in the hospital thankfully, when we visited my mom today (except for trying to push the nurse call button).

Thanks Staashi :)

I am feeling a little less stressed today, as I found Chuck E. Cheese and spent a small fortune to occupy him. It has been raining for the past few days, so the plans I had for playground time daily were out of the question. Thank god for Chuck E. Cheese. And apparently, in this area, there are almost no other parents who think 11 am is a great time to take their kids there, so we had the whole place to ourselves. Declan had a blast.

My mom is being transferred to the rehab facility tomorrow, so I am planning on heading home after she is settled in. Cannot wait to sleep in my bed. We had the couch last night. Declan was supposed to be on the floor, but he woke up at 1 am and absolutely insisted on sharing the couch with me. It was NOT a wide couch at all. Declan slept wonderfully, as he was comfortable and cuddled by mommy. My azz however was completely hanging off the house (yeah, I know, a good motivation to diet) and I slept restlessly all night.

yay Anna congrats on having a little girl! Sounds like you finally found a great doctor. Will you be able to see him for regular gyn check ups? Or does he only do OB? I will find out the gender next tuesday (hopefully), I really really really would like a girl too! :P But either way I just want to hear that everything is healthy and good. Do you have a name picked out yet? We are having a really hard time with girls names, we don't agree on anything.... haha.

We finally closed on our house and today is day 3 in "Ben's new house" Soooo much weight off of my shoulders. I am so exhausted even tho no one let me lift anything. But there are 1000 boxes to unpack and I cannot find a thing. But its so worth it I love the house, so much room, and its brandnew so we don't have anything to fix, just have to paint one wall because we don't like the color.

Karen: I hope your mom will recover soon and that life will be less hectic for you! How do you like your new job? How is your hubby doing in nursing school? I just sold my books on amazon, another huge weight off of my shoulders. :D

@ Steffi: Oh boy finally! I feel for you, we moved when I was pregnant with Jona, but we had movers. Still, one has to find places for everything and such...

I'll see the local obgyn group for checkups as before, for obgyn issues that are not pregnancy/birth related I don't care too much... Next appointment is in 5 weeks, we'll do the GD testing and they gave me a bottle of grapejuice with me to drink in the car, so I can time it about 1h before I arrive, so I don't have to wait around there, which is really nice. Though the birthing center has a very nice indoor playground, it is easy to entertain Jona there, luckily!

We do have a name, but no middle name yet, we're expecting baby Eloise. We were torn between Emilia, Charlotte, Aurelie and Eloise.

After 4 weeks of my absence, DH turned the house into chaos. He just puts stuff where it doesn't belong, so it's sort of like someone else lived here (like where is the carrot peeler, where did you put the coffee!!!)... He also managed to only spend $70 on groceries in 4 weeks and be a daily guest at McD. YUCK! I really don't know how he can stomach that stuff!

We'll be going to SFO for Halloween and I'll get to sort through all of SILs baby girl clothes. She has a gazillion, and wants to get rid of them... So I basically don't have to buy anything... Just very little!

Anna, hand me downs are so nice! I have gotten some here and there but really have been hitting up outlet stores sales. I assume come december we will be able to get a ton of winter sets for our newborns on clearance.. (it will be cold from feb-april here in chicago) so we will need winter clothes for a while.

Our crib arrived yesterday and bedding should be here tomorrow!! SO EXCITING!!

I have my next OB next wednesday and dont believe Ill be getting any testing done. I am getting my flu shot which im nervous about. Stef are you getting one???

haha thanks for clarifying that Jenn, I had no clue how to pronounce that name either! :D I like how that sounds.

Kel: yeah I will most likely get a flu shot, hubby is a cop in the Bronx, and I am hoping to work soon, so I guess we have to! He brings home a lot of germs and stuff, so I'd rather be on the safe side. I've never had a bad reaction to a shot so I am not really worried. My midwife recommends it too. she is one of the crunchy people and she even said she never had a patient with a bad reaction, not even the swine flu shots last year. So that makes me feel better. I wouldn't get the flu mist spray but the vaccine is fine.

Anna: yeah when I came home from Germany it was similar. He bought a gallon of milk, and beer of course, haha. No way he would cook something for himself...

Anna, love the name Eloise :)

I'm home!!! Got in at midnight last night because I could not take another sleepless night. It was worth the drive to be able to sleep in my own bed. Mom is doing better, in pain but that is to be expected.

Got home and found the house a mess. Hubby, of course, told me he thought it was pretty clean. Men! And of course, he, like the rest of the husbands, did not eat any of the vegetables I left for him, opting instead for pizza and beer.

Stef - I start the new job on Tuesday. Excited and nervous. Nursing school is so much more intense than the courses hubby took previously. He likes it and has a good group of friends in the program. He studies all the time though. I've heard from other people who have graduated from the program that the first semester is the most intense, as the instructors try to weed out people who can't cut it and have this "tough love" attitude. Was your program like that? How's the job hunt for you?

haha he should know to eat his veggies- he's going to be an RN! yeah there is college and then there is nursing school. It's very intense. I only did the last 2 semesters because they gave me credit for my german stuff and I tested out of the med-surg/pediatrics and maternity classes by taking the finals. But I heard it was bad (which is a good thing, they HAVE to weed out the dummies and there's still some left) I wish I could tell you it gets much easier. I had the advantage of already being thru all that in germany but holy cow the last semester kicked my butt. Just tell him its all good preparation for cardiac. haha. I feel like whatever I did in the 3 years in Germany I had to do again within 6 months. I was studying 24/7 and still felt guilty of not keeping up with the reading/spending more time with Ben. I am so blessed to have my husband and his parents who put up with me and my schedule throughout that year, so just be patient with him. :)

My job hunt isn't going well. I look 6 months pregnant and I gave up for now. Most hospitals in my area aren't hiring other than ER. I had 2 interviews and I am still waiting to hear back. It was 1 month ago! The position is still not filled though.

Good luck on your first day at your new job!

amysaid: welcome the the babycorner!
