So sorry to hear this! Good luck and hope everything work out OK for you. (F)

chnst,

Thank you for the suggestion!! It sounds overwhelming to travel with infant! The garbage bag isnt something I'd think of so that's a very good idea! I'll look into the desposible changing pad too. They say it'll be a full plane so no car seat on the plane for me. The only down side for the basinet is that now I'm sitting in the middle and I like to sit on the isle seat:unsure:

I'm flying Korean air, they usually are very friendly and helpful but pretty strict by the rules. After watching 9/11 documentary I'm kinda afraid to fly during christmas now (flying in NYC on the 26th) the crazy people from N Korea might plan something!! lol I doubt it but it just gives me uneasy feeling when I think about it.

Also, I'm looking at a http://www.amazon.com/KidCo-PeaPod-Portable-Self-2dInflating-Travel/dp/B001HY40P4/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I2XFZ61XE5BZ8G&colid=3CU9NICT32KJY for Sam to sleep in..it looks promising and a lot lighter than pack n play and I can bring to the beach with me. And I'm going to get the lighter stroller than the one I have with my travel system (problably this one http://www.amazon.com/Jeep-Cherokee-Sport-Stroller-Impulse/dp/B002SNAG4C/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I24RE3FBZY38OS&colid=3CU9NICT32KJY). Also buy a booster seat so Sam can sit in any chair (either http://www.amazon.com/Jeep-Travel-Anywhere-Booster-Everyday/dp/B002IVTUVE/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I2X36BH49ZP7W&colid=3CU9NICT32KJY or http://www.amazon.com/My-Little-Seat-Travel-Months/dp/B002AKRJ4I/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I3NRVXMD7CNBCQ&colid=3CU9NICT32KJY)

I'll bring my car seat too. I think I'll be able to make some puree babyfood for sam there but will pack some for the plane. Too many thing to think about

you're welcome! It sounds overwhelming but as long as you're prepared it will be fine! Sam is so little he will probably take a few naps. As for the seat- that stinks, but you will have way more leg-room. And not having the baby on your lap constantly is a great help too. Another thing I thought of- if he's on formula or a picky eater, you may want to bring more formula/baby food in your luggage because some babies may not like the food in different country, at least for the first few days that it will take him to adjust.

And it's normal to be worried to fly these days, who isn't? I just think about the statistics- how likely is it really to crash on a plane? Much much less likely than having any other kind of accident, so that kinda helps me. :P

And God forbid something goes wrong you probably won't even know what hit you before its over. I'm sure you will have a great trip!

Kelly: at least you won't have to wait and you will get another ultrasound. I wish you all the best tomorrow!

Kelly -- keeping you in my thoughts. I know about crazy things happening. My second genetic screening at 18 weeks came back as 1 in 54 chance of Downs for one or both babies. Luckily I was going to a conservative perinatalogist at the time and he was cool with me not doing an amnio. (I was 33 at the time, so not considered AMA.) He had taken quite a few u/s pics by then and felt that the babies looked great and he agreed with me that we didn't have to do it. However, throughout the rest of the pregnancy, it was hard not to think every little thing they noticed might be because of that. I really had to tell myself to be positive. I know you can do it too!

The duo are speaking more and more everyday. They want to "talk" to everyone who calls me. Hana is making sentences and Zak is creating interesting words (Hicham brought them back chocolate from Italy and Zak loves asking for chocolakalakalakalaka.)

Kelly: I hope they can give you more answers tomorrow and put your mind at ease.

When I was pregnant with Eman I made the mistake of telling them that my mom was my age when she had my sis (who was born with down syndrome). I was 22 (about to be 23). Well ofcourse all of a sudden there is panic and they are telling me that there is a possibility that my child could have DS and that they could do an amnio. I refused it. They did the thorough ultrasound and said that they could rule it out 100% with the amnio but at that point I brushed it all off. I am sure if they had found something in the ultrasound I would have opted in for further testing.

Anyone have an experience with pediatric allergies? My mom dealt with my sister as a toddler being diagnosed with food and environmental allergies. She really thinks Hana may have some food allergies too. I am beginning to wonder as well. Then, Friday the babysitter says to me out of the blue that she thinks Hana may have a food allergy because the diaper rash we have been fighting all of a sudden got a LOT worse with her late afternoon diaper change after lunch. Then...enter the scenario this week. Hana has a runny nose Monday afternoon / evening. She is fine on Tuesday...no runny nose or anything. This afternoon I pick her up and she has a runny nose again and all she did is cough all late afternoon / evening (from stuff going down her throat). I have an appt next week with my allergy/asthma doctor so I am going to ask him if he thinks it would be good to test her. Just wondering if there were any BTDT moms.

Kelly: Good to hear that all is good. I bet your little girl is going to be just fine and healthy as can be.

Twila: I'd write down everything Hana eats to see what causes the rash. She's sstill pretty young so she's probably not yet on a full blown grow up plan. that should make it easier to control what she's eating. Does the babysitter have any idea what might have caused the rash and did you check with the pediatrician that it's not a yeast rash?

The peds have seen the rash a couple of times and told me it wasn't a yeast infection, just a typical diaper rash. We have been fighting this off and on since July. It will get better and almost be gone and then reappear with a horrible vengeance. It is funny because my mom and I were thinking about food allergies because my mom says Hana acts like my little sister did when she was the same age. It took my mom to take her to another doctor to find out she wasn't a hypochondriac and that my sister had allergies to bananas, chocolate, peanut butter, and a few other things. Independent of my mom and I talking, my daycare provider says to me one day that about two hours after feeding her some fruit, she noticed her diaper rash got really red and inflamed again and she is wondering if she has food allergies. Add to this my complaint to our ped that Hana will projectile vomit for seemingly no apparent reason at least once a month, sometimes multiple times in one day, but it is hard to predict a pattern. It hasn't been so much as to send her to a gastroenterologist, but we have thought about it. This has been going on since we started her on solid foods. My babies wouldn't eat baby cereal at ALL. So...we fed them a lot of the baby pureed fruits. I just have this gut feeling she is allergic to bananas and quite possibly strawberries. There is a family history of food allergies. Besides my sister's allergies, I am very allergic to soy. So...it wouldn't be a stretch to see Hana have some. I made an appt for her with my allergist (who also is a pediatric allergist) to see what he thinks and quite possibly get her tested.

Kelly: glad everyting is ok! I hope that you can get to enjoy your pregnancy for a little while now. :)

Twila: Real food allergies are rare, but it sounds like she may have an allergy to the stuff that you already suspect. I think strawberies can give you a rash (its called contact dermatitis)/runny nose etc. To be sure I would monitor exactly what she is eating and if there are any reactions. Some children may not have a reaction until a few days after they eat or are exposed to a certain food. I would get an appointment with the pedicatrician, they can run a few tests (skin tests or blood tests) or give you an idea what to eliminate from her diet (some kids who are allergic to certain fruit may also be allergic to latex)

Kelly, I am glad that they aren't concerned about it, I'm sure everything will be fine. :)

We have been potty training this week more seriously. Since Monday afternoon Kavi has been very good about going #1 in his potty, except for overnight he is still wearing a diaper. During the day when home I just have him in underwear. We still have to work on #2. He isn't used to sitting that way while going #2 so he hasn't done it on the potty so far.

Married since 9-18-04(All K1 visa & GC details in timeline.)

Kelly@ good news!

anya-D@ I just came back from my second trip to Peru and to be honest it gets easier, the first time I was super nervous. Sofia was sitting on my lap and I just made sure to bring plenty of food for her, diapers, baby wipes, some small toys and extra clothes just in case.

I brought her sippy cup me and they just asked me to open t to make sure that it was water but thta's it, they are very helpful at the airport, the umbrella stroller is so helpful I think is a must. Oh and I made Sofia to wear her pijamas during the flight, it made it super easy to change her and i didn't have to worry about her shoes falling or anything, she was super comfortable.

Thanks Guys, Im so relieved!!

Took Zaid for his flu shot today, Poor guy is so sensitive. We had to wait there for 30 mins after the vaccine due to his egg allergy and the whole time he was pointing fingers at the doctor and nurses saying "YOUR NOT NICE" and "DONT TOUCH MY LEG" LOL!! I bout died! They of course thought it was adorable and declared Zaid the "special patient of the day" and gave him a tshirt and a teddy (they do it for one kid a day) it was nice but he wanted nothing to do with it at the time! So glad thats over and I wont have to do it again for a whole year!

Twila, Zaid has alot of "local" reactions to food. He gets hives on his face alot but has actually never had a rash in his life. Im assuming his arent true allergies bc of this but like others mentioned I would just go get her tested. At least you will have definite answers
