Oh my! Im glad I didnt have to follow a 45min rule. My OB let me push for 3!

Any idea why I might be having what I think are heart palpitations? It almost feels like a sinking feeling in my throat and chest that goes down the bottom of my breastbone, its more prominent when im sitting, when I stand its almost nonexistent.. I wonder if its related to the stomach problems I had last week, because thats exactly when it started. Either way im going NUTS. I see my OB tomorrow after my anatomy US so I will bring it up, I just have a feeling its gonna result in a TON of tests being done, which I dont mind because I want to make sure im healthy, but its so hard to work that stuff around my work schedule. We shall see, just another bump in the road of being pregnant with baby girl.

I had these when I was pregnant with Adam and a few times since. Also never when standing. It felt like some sort of anxiety attack to me - I would be lying in bed and have that sinking feeling and feel like I just could not lie still. It definitely was not pleasant. The few times I've had it since being pregnant was when Adam was lying on my chest. So I was thinking it maybe had something to do with pressure on a certain nerve.

Ahh.. anxiaty attack.. I have one of those right now!! lol Sort of anyway. I wonder what caused it, I had it like 4 times in the pass 3 years, and one time I got it, it was about something that i know have zero chance of happening.

I'm now worried about my trip to Thailand that I just bought the ticket. I'm going alone with Sam in December so i dont know how it's going to be (flying 27 hours with 6 months old) at least I have a basinet and meal requested for him.

my worries are about bathroom - do you go to the bathroom with the baby all the time? (in the plane) and what should i bring on board with me. What type of stroller I should get, and booster seat? and where will my baby's going to sleep (my parents dont have crib) medication? food for him during the travel time etc... it's months away but I'm sooo nervous!! Ladies, do you have any advice / tips / ideas?

Anyway, I'm letting my Sam suck his thumb for now.. I'm choosing my battle and I think this one is ok to just leave it until he's much older to worry about :) Just hope to introduce something else for him so he doesnt rely solely on his thumb and hoping that will make it easier to wean.

AND.....You miss flu season so by the time the next flu season comes around, baby is old enough to vaccinate! Im paranoid about having this one in january/feburary and having a bunch of germy people around her! lol

Today is my 20 week ultrasound!! Im not quite 20 weeks but thats what Im calling it ! lol...Sofyan is so excited and I think Zaid is too, from what he can understand. he just keeps saying "Happy birthday Baba AND go see mommys doctor to see Laila" lol Hes so cute! Hopefully its still a little ####### down there, id hate to have to return the 50 outfits Ive bought already :)

Zaid sounds so cute! I will be perfectly content with either a boy or a girl, but I secretly am hoping for a boy. We'll see :)

Visa Journey completed, but we are still here to provide support! :)

Most airlines typically let you check up to 2 baby items for free. So you could bring a pack'n play to thailand, although it adds more luggage. As for the stroller, you can either get a lightweight umbrella stroller and gate-check it (it means you can roll it right up to the point where you get on the plane- very convenient) or you can check your stroller with the other luggage and carry him in a carrier. I found it easiest to have a stroller with me when you have a sleepy baby and there is other luggage to handle or imigration/passport checks etc. I went without a stroller a few times and just had the Ergo (baby carrier and it was fine too, although a little harder to juggle your carry on (full of diapers and baby food) and passports/tickets etc. With a stroller you have your hands free.

Food: you can bring bottles, sippy cups and baby food jars, and the airline staff will warm it up for you (expect to wait 1 hour or more for it though, they are usually not very kid friendly)You can bring this in your carry on. I have a little cooler bag that I use for all the jars and sippy cups and I just put it in the bin when we go through security, never had an issue with that.

Did you buy a seat for the baby? If so, you can bring his carseat on the plane. If not, you will have to leave the carseat home or check it with your luggage. If there are empty seats next to you they may let you bring the car seat on board even if you have a lap baby, but I've never heard of that really happening before.

If he's on your lap, he will be fine if you have a bassinet. It's really a life saver on long distance flights!

bathroom: on the last flights I went to the bathroom when Ben was sleeping. I waited until there was no line, and then just went as he was sleeping on the seat. Worked great. It's tricky with a 6 month old. When Ben was 1 year old (he couldnt walk then) I had to take him with me, because quote "it's not in the job description of a flight attendant to babysit children" when you have to go... Sometimes you get lucky and you have nice people on board who don't mind to watch the baby while you use the restroom. Just don't leave the baby unattended in the bassinet, he could get really hurt if he falls out. If he's alseep in there and you have to go, just ask someone to have an eye on him for 2 minutes.

what else to bring: definitely bring lots of diapers (1 for every 2 hours that you are traveling, is supposedly rule of thumb) You may miss a connection or get stuck at the airport for hours (happened to us twice) and you need to have enough stuff for your own peace of mind. disposable changing mats (huggies makes them), wipes, hand sanitizing wipes ( I buy them at Babies R Us), Formula (if you bottle feed), bottles, baby blanket, a few outfits for baby AND YOU (accidents happpen, I always get spit up on me or chocolate finger prints, spilled juice etc), tylenol/motrin just in case he decides to have a fever on the big day extra pacies (if you use them, they tend to get lost or fall in crevices between the seats where you can never reach) a few toys (preferrably some toys that don't make noise) garbage bags- I use grocery bags. They are really essential. You can wrap up poopie diapers in them or just your regular trash. There is always so much garbage when you are on a plane with a kid.

So you get the idea, haha. It seems a huge affair but the better you're prepared the better it will go. I usually try to travel "light" I have a little carry on trolley where I pack all my emergency and back up supplies and extra outfits, plus stuff like cameras, important papers. That goes in the overhead bin when we're on the plane. I have an extra bag with stuff that we need for the duration of the flight (some diapers, trash bags toys, food for baby, ipod, magazine, drink for mommy, 1 outfit, pen, passports, tickets &hand sanitizer) and that goes under the seat.

Yeah what CHNST said...I can't add anything to that :)

I'm so glad to have Adam (and now Allie too) who want to carry their stuff themselves. That way I can put diapers and snacks in one backpack, DVD player and toys in th other and all the important stuff in my backpack. I have a big one which 'converts' into a trolley so I usually have it on the floor in front of me so I don't have to get up all the time. At least that's what I did last time. We'll see how next time goes :).

ETA: About the food. I brought apple sauce on the last flight and the security guy pulled me out and asked me to hand him the apple sauce containters (the little plastic ones that come in the cardboard wrapper "box"). So I gave him one plastic cup and he took off with it to test if it really was apple sauce. I don't know what they did but when he came back he said that it was indeed applesauce (thank goodness :)) but there was no hole poked in it or whatever. I bet he showed to somebody else, that somebody else said "Yep..looks like applesauce to me now let that lady and her two crazy kids move on, they are holding up everything" and he gave it back to me :)

Kinda bummed, baby measured great, still a girl, but, has cysts on her brain. I am going to a specialist in the next few days to get some more answers. OB doesnt seem too concerned bc my trisomy 18 results came back at 1:10,000 but its still just something else for me to worry about. :(

Sorry to hear that Kelly. I know cysts are very common and usually nothing to worry about. I think all of us here know how worrying something like that can be though. (((hugs)))

wow I can't believe what you guys are going through this time! If it helps like Jenn said, these cysts may be completely normal ad they may just resolve before she is even born. Since you had a good trisomie scan and you guys are so young chances are she is going to be just fine. What did the OB say about your palpitations?

Evi: haha @ the apple sauce! That's funny! But better safe than sorry. I sometimes think they don't even really look at my stuff at all. Chuck and I took a plane from Maui to Oahu on our honeymoon and forgot that his knife (he got it from the eagle scouts) was in our carry-on backpack and it made it through security both times, they just took our sunscreen bottle away (too big). Didn't care about the knife/didn't see it IDK.

The doctor said she doesnt think their palpitations because they happen one day and not another, and my heart rate is consistently around 86-90. She thinks it may be GERD related or some type of pressure on my diaphragm? All she said was if it causes shortness of breath or dizziness, or if my heart rate is consistently above 100 to call them and they will order an EKG and echo. I didnt have one at all yesterday so its strange.

I am pretty upset about the cysts, even though my odds are pretty good with them just going away on their own. I am going to schedule my US with the specialist today sometime, im hoping they can see me before the end of the week.

you may still have palpitations but not the worrisome kind. A lot of people get it from stress or a lot of caffeine intake and when they see their doctor their heart rate is fine. Just take good care of yourself and stay positive, I'm sorry you are going through all this.

So sorry to hear this! Good luck and hope everything work out OK for you. (F)

chnst,

Thank you for the suggestion!! It sounds overwhelming to travel with infant! The garbage bag isnt something I'd think of so that's a very good idea! I'll look into the desposible changing pad too. They say it'll be a full plane so no car seat on the plane for me. The only down side for the basinet is that now I'm sitting in the middle and I like to sit on the isle seat:unsure:

I'm flying Korean air, they usually are very friendly and helpful but pretty strict by the rules. After watching 9/11 documentary I'm kinda afraid to fly during christmas now (flying in NYC on the 26th) the crazy people from N Korea might plan something!! lol I doubt it but it just gives me uneasy feeling when I think about it.

Also, I'm looking at a http://www.amazon.com/KidCo-PeaPod-Portable-Self-2dInflating-Travel/dp/B001HY40P4/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I2XFZ61XE5BZ8G&colid=3CU9NICT32KJY for Sam to sleep in..it looks promising and a lot lighter than pack n play and I can bring to the beach with me. And I'm going to get the lighter stroller than the one I have with my travel system (problably this one http://www.amazon.com/Jeep-Cherokee-Sport-Stroller-Impulse/dp/B002SNAG4C/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I24RE3FBZY38OS&colid=3CU9NICT32KJY). Also buy a booster seat so Sam can sit in any chair (either http://www.amazon.com/Jeep-Travel-Anywhere-Booster-Everyday/dp/B002IVTUVE/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I2X36BH49ZP7W&colid=3CU9NICT32KJY or http://www.amazon.com/My-Little-Seat-Travel-Months/dp/B002AKRJ4I/ref=wl_it_dp_o?ie=UTF8&coliid=I3NRVXMD7CNBCQ&colid=3CU9NICT32KJY)

I'll bring my car seat too. I think I'll be able to make some puree babyfood for sam there but will pack some for the plane. Too many thing to think about
