And the AP Continues!

Last week my Congressman advised that the Dept of State told them my case was sent back to the Embassy and to call them - out of AP, right?! Spent a week in bliss waiting patiently to receive the visa. But then got worried - it shouldn't take another week to receive. So I called the Embassy - it's still at the Dept of State, no status change. Must be lost in the mail between US and France. Congressman calls Dept of State again and we get the same old response: the case is still under administrative processing, which takes 60-90 days from the interview and that's only a guide, it could take longer. So irresponsible to give me the wrong information. Now on day 53 of AP

Im not sure if the actual case file gets sent to the US for AP. I was under the impression that the embassy just sends info that they require to Washington via the internet and wait for the results. I could be wrong about that though. Does anyone know whether AP is done electronically or with actual case files?
