I want to bring my German wife and her son to the States. Which do you recommend? K3 or IR1/CR1

I met my wife in Germany 16 years ago. We recently got married in Denmark, and she has a 10 year son. I want to petition for them but I want to know which would be the visa that would allow them to come in at the same time as LPRs. Do I have to adopt her son or would it be sufficient for my wife to get custody? Thanks a lot.

CR-1 works for both.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans.
