Visitor's Visa for Adult Children - Colombia

Hi Everyone!

VJ has helped me this far, and I'm hoping for some advice/insight on the next part of the journey.

My Colombian husband has two adult children from his first marriage. He is now a temporary GC holder (haven't filed to remove conditions yet as we still have about 8 months to go.)

The children are: 19 year old unmarried daughter

21 year old unmarried son

Right now they are in school and living with their mother. They haven't decided if they would like to become permanent residents/citizens of the US. However, they would love to come here on a visitor's visa. Does anyone know how easy/difficult it is for adult children to receive visitor's visas? Ideally, we'd like to get them multiple-entry visas so they can come visit frequently.

Any experience or thoughts would be greatly appreciated. (Or redirects to similar threads... I did a search on this and didn't find much.)

Thank you.

Grace and Peace,

Traci

You do not mention any positive factors, but if they do not apply they will never know.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

It's very, very, very difficult to get a tourist visa in Colombia and based on the info you've given about your stepchildren, it's even more difficult. The reason for that is because there is a large number of Colombians who get their tourist visa and decide to stay in the US illegally, so that's what the CO will be looking at, what reasons does this person have to return to Colombia after this trip? Does he have any pending issues he needs to come back to take care of? Does he have enough money/income to stay in Colombia and not see the US as an escape to their financial situation? Is this person young enough to start a brand new life in the US? All of those things are an issue and they will need to go extremely well prepared to prove they will only come out here to visit, and not to stay.

Now, there have been cases where the CO doesn't really care and approves them right away, no questions asked, but those situations are rare. And like Boiler said, they will never know if they don't try.
