They SERIOUSLY do not know in Montreal when I get there...that I am "Zansgirl"?..they would refer to me as (my real life name)......I was so confused when a poster make a remark about them calling Lgg..Lgg!

Zansgirl, you have NO idea... that comment by whomever made it really freaked me out. But seriously? Like they have time to sift through all of us and all their interviewees to figure out who's who, you know? What a huge waste of time on their part.

I didn't think about it once while we were at our interview. They don't care, I'm sure. even if we/I/you spouted off great loads of slander they'd probably be like, "meh..."

but yeah, when that was said, I was like, whoa, they should probably focus on doing their jobs rather than reading a website and waiting for a certain poster to make her appearance so we can give her some grief. The whole notion is rather silly in hindsight....

I think the whole "Montreal reads the forums" thing was blown out of proportion a bit.

As I recall, it was Paul Meyer, the director of the consulate, who mentioned VisaJourney and that he was familiar with the Canada forum and some of the posters therein. I get the sense that it's more out of occasional perusal and general interest in how the consulate is being perceived. I doubt he was "VJ lurking" while at work...probably just checking in from time to time. He has a blog, so he's clearly a regular internet user. It makes perfect sense to me that he'd want to keep tabs on forums that pertain directly to his line of work...

It doesn't worry me in the least, nor does it surprise me! We're all doing things on the up and up here...and the consular officers are going to work with the information they have in front of them, as well as other resources at their fingertips. For all we know they Google search our names. No sense in getting paranoid about it...it's their job to determine that we're legitimate immigration hopefuls.

I don't think it matters at all. I also don't think they are necessarily wasting their time - when viewing these posts I am sure they do it on their own time, not when they have interviewees waiting out in the office

So if this is what they choose to do in their down time - good on them - it makes for interesting reading i'm sure! (If you were a CO, wouldn't YOU read it?)

As to any effect reading this stuff has on their actual job, I assume it is a non-issue. I think it's insulting to suggest otherwise. While they are all human, they are also professionals and what we write on VJ should not and probably does not have any effect whatsoever on how they adjudicate anyones application.
