the only way you could get a marriage certificate in the US would be to get legally married in the US. You're already married apparently, so there's no need.

If your marriage certificate is in a foreign language it will need to be translated. USCIS will not accept on its own any documents not in English.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!

ChayadaNutter,

The best solutions to problems begin with knowing what the problems are. "some problems with somewhere in the USA" is not a very useful description.

I would suggest that you get married in the USA too. Its really easy in most states and within an hour or so you can be legaly married in the USA.

twood2k,

How can they? To get a marriage license the applicants must be single. These people are not single, they are married and their marriage is recognized in the USA.

Good question.. So they now have a marriage license registered in the petitioners state or department of records? Where is the license registered and how do they get copies etc...

Sounds like you know more about this than me so ill gracefully bow down and let you take over ;)

twood2k,

I doubt they have a marriage licence, or marriage certificate, registered in the petitioner's state. I think that's what they're asking if they can do.

They do apparently have a marriage certificate from a marriage registered in an amphur in the beneficiary's country, Thailand (2 certificates probably, 1 for each of them). A copy of this Thai certificate, and an English translation, has been submitted to the USCIS in support of the I-130 petition.

So my point is, how can they go to a town office in the USA, apply for a marriage license, and then get married? They aren't single.

What they might be able to do is go to their local registrar's office here in the USA with their Thai marriage certificates and see if the marriage can be registered at that office as well. But I don't see how they can get married in the USA since they're already married.
