My wife's POE would be Washington Dulles airport. Her final destination would be FL. I would like to know if it is possible to checkin baggage at Dulles airport just after the immigration & custom at the same international terminal for domestic flights via United airlines?

Thanks.

I don't think you need to check in luggage if you are making a connection flight.

If you do, then she will pass immigration and then get her baggage (my mom always uses Dulles and she said that's how it works) and finally go to the domestic part and check in (I really think she won't need it though, the baggage should go to the other airplane automatically).

Good luck!

Have you already booked the flights?

Typically in US (unless the flight has arrived from Canada), the baggage must be claimed and then rechecked-in at ticket counter. If the flight has not already been booked, you can try for deals to JAX, MIA, TPA or MCO (take the one that is closest).

(sundry info only: for flights specifically from Canada, the immigration/customs check is done at one of the nine PFI's--and baggage-transfer to onward domestic-US destinations IS automatic)

There are no good connections from Pakistan for FL. I have tried MCO, TPA and MIA but there is only Virgin Atlantic airline from London to MCO.

Anyways I have already bought the tickets.

So, she has to claimed her baggage after custom and rechecked-in at ticket counter at another terminal (domestic terminal) right? or can she rechecked-in baggage just after custom when she get out of international terminal and rechecked-in baggage at some special counter for international travelers who has domestic connection, like I used to do at Chicago O'Hare airport?

Assuming Dulles is the original POE, she will first pass through immigration before she claims her baggage.

Dulles is a fairly easy airport to navigate. Much walking as is the norm but well marked. After she claims her baggage, she will take it through customs. Customs is virtually around the corner from where the bags will be re-checked.

I don't suspect it will be difficult for her at all.

Our journey together on this earth has come to an end.

I will see you one day again, my love.

i think you are looking for the 're-check' counter outside of the exit of Immigration. I'd check the airport website, if I were you, also CALL the airport, get a human. As long as the ticket has the final destination, then the BAG TAGS will have the final destination, as well.

IF HER BAG TAGS not have the final destination on them, she'll have to re-check them AT THE CHECK IN COUNTER for that airline. Sorry.

We were connecting through IAD to ORD in September 09 and all we had to do was get the bags after we were done with POE officials, take the bags through customs (they just take your paper) and take it literally 20 feet down to the re-check guys.

Just make sure the bags are marked through to the last destination and you won't have any issues.
