Does anyone know how can I claim my wife in my tax return??

You need to fill in a W-7. That way you can get an ITIN.

08/2006 met in GA, U.S.

05/2007 Antje had to go back to Germany

10/2009 got engaged in TN

12/31/2009 got married

1/7/2010 I-130 sent

1/9/2010 I-130 delivered

1/13/2010 check cashed

1/15/2010 NOA 1

3/18/2010 NOA 2

*Moratorium on NEW Acceptance Agents Applications Starting January 1, 2010

The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Individual Tax Identification Number (ITIN) Program is announcing a moratorium effective January 1st through April 30th, 2010 on all new Forms 13551, Application to Participate in the IRS Acceptance Agent Program.

During the moratorium, the IRS will not accept or process Forms 13551, Application to Participate in the IRS Acceptance Agent Program. Only amendments to existing, approved agreements will be accepted during the moratorium. The ITIN Program will resume accepting applications during the new 2010 Acceptance Agent Open Season, effective May 1 through August 31, 2010.

Email Notice from USCIS: Current Status: Approval notice sent. 04-07-10

NVC

Received NOA2 in the mail at 5pm.. Called NVC at 8pm and got our case number. 04-13-10

DS-3032 Accepted 04-19-10

AOS and IV Paid 04-20-10

Mailed out AOS package 04-28-10

Sent DS-230 package to NVC - 05-26-10

DS-230 Delivered to NVC 06-03-10

NVC Case completed 06-21-10.."Please wait 8 weeks.."

Received email from NVC 06-28-10, case forwarded to Manila - Interview Date scheduled for Aug 4th

EMBASSY

Passed the Medical tests at St. Lukes - 07-30-10

Embassy Interview - 08-04-10 Passed interview but was told to go to the NBI office to get a new NBI from when her middle name was misspelled.

Went back to the Embassy 08-05-10 and was approved. Tried to pick up the visa but she was told that she can't pick it up and it will be mailed to her home.

Did you look into exactly what Forms 13551 is? It has nothing to do with getting a ITIN number for a spouse that I can see.

File the W-7 for your spouse.

i thou u cant file a income tax for ur wife if shes still not here yet coz my husband claiming me last year but they said i need to be here first .

Jan. 17 2012 ---- Sworn In

Mytha, that is not true! You do not have be i n the States to be claimed as his wife. TErry could do it without me being in the States.

Thankfully, this has nothing to do with the ITIN and W-7 form.

I absolutely agree.

I just did my taxes and the difference between filing Married Separately and filing Married Jointly more than doubles (about 2 1/2 times actually) my refund. It will definitely be worth doing the extra paperwork so that we can get that extra money and I recommend that everyone do both calculations.

05/2004 through 08/2009 - many trips back and forth by both of us, phone calls, care packages, etc.

02/14/2008 - Engaged (she was here in the US for Valentines Day so I figured make it official :))

11/21/2009 - Married with a few friends and some family in attendence.

01/12/2010 - I-130 Packet Sent

08/30/2010 - Interview completed, visa granted.

08/31/2010 - Visa in hand!

09/07/2010 - Arriving Seattle.

09/17/2010 - Received SSN.

10/01/2010 - Received green card.

Removal of Conditions:

06/06/2012 - Mailed I-751

06/12/2012 - Got back I-751 as "too early"

06/13/2012 - Re-mailed I-751

06/18/2012 - NOA1

07/13/2012 - Biometrics Appointment letter received (scheduled for 08/06/2012)

08/06/2012 - Biometrics completed.
