You referred to feeling "uncomfortable", you have not explained anywhere why that is or how those feelings amount to anything but irrational fear - only that its OK to feel this way because you believe that most other people feel likewise.

You know, whenever I've used the showers at the gym I've never really stopped to consider the sexuality of any of the other guys in there. So no, I don't have any qualms about it.

Thats why gays in the military shouldnt tell.....and if you knew 6 of the guys in the shower with you were gay you might find yourself looking over your shoulder......

The 'gays in the shower' syndrome pathetic, really. Some people are sensitive to other people seeing them in the shower some are not but it has very little to do with a perception that someone might fantasise about having sex with them and much more to do with the whole notion of modesty, not wishing someone else to see you naked period.

The truth is we can't know what's going on in someone else's mind but the reality is, most people in most situations are not perving over other people taking showers and that includes gays just the same as straight people. To believe that gays are more likely to perve than straight people is part of the usual aburdity that goes on over these issues.

Oh well, I do not really expect logic in these discussions.

Generally speaking, I think everyone should be discreet about their personal life. Though (in the case of gay people) not for the reason that not doing so will land you in jail and lose you your job.

If you have to look over your shoulder in the showers, I'd say that's your problem more than it is anyone elses.

There are a lot of homophobic/ignorant posts in this thread, but nonetheless what the soldiers did clearly violated policy & they should have been punished. Personally I have mixed feelings about gays in the military but even it were a straight porn site the soldiers would have faced charges (conduct unbecoming at the very least).
