Im probably gonna get pounced on for this but if straight guys enjoy looking at naked ladies, then dont gay guys feel the same about naked guys, and if that is the case then just as women in the armed forces dont want naked men up close and personal with them in the ladies showers, similarly men also dont want gays in the mens showers...clothed in foxholes ok, naked in showers not ok. The army did the right thing to discharge them, for everyones sake.

Some supporters dismiss this bit of reality out right which shows they

a. cannot with an open mind consider the complications involved.

b. assume things will continue on as they have in the past when gays have served in limited numbers and very discreetly... much like drug users.

legalize homosexual life and that ushers in a whole host of situations to deal with. Showers is the least.

Um no, being gay isn't illegal, even in the army. What is illegal is acting gay in front of an officer - the definition of that action being as someone already said, nebulous.

Actually that is where you are wrong. Being gay isn't illegal, homosexual conduct is illegal. Very different things.

I don't think the conduct is illegal, either. It's simply grounds for dismissal from the military.

It's somewhat galling that Obama makes his big push for the discarding "don't ask, don't tell" during the State of the Union speech and little else to say about our current state of war. His priorities are messed up as usual.
