They rarely give you any reason for the denial. That is why it is important to scrutinize the interview questions and answers as well as your red flags. The fact that you got married shortly after is a red flag, but I don't think that alone would be a good enough reason in their minds to send it back. Is there a large age difference? Does his family know and approve of the marriage? Do you have pictures of yourself with his family? Do you have a lot of pictures of the wedding celebration? Does he have family already in the US? How did you meet? This list could go on and on. This is why it is so important to really put yourself out of the situation and view your case from a third party point of view. You must think like a CO.

we have reviewed the questions that were asked and the only thing i can think of is about one name i had when i was young...my grandparents changed my name to their last name when i was very little and i used it until my first marriage...i completely forgot i had even put the name on the application...the CO tried to tell my husband that i was married with this name and my husband stood firm and said no she was not married with this name...i haven't used my grandparents name in over 20 yrs...that could be one.. possible flag about our ages...close to 14 yrs difference and the one about us getting married when i came here to morocco...those are the only things i can think of....

my husband told me that the CO questioned him for over 1/2 hour but the interview took an hour because the CO left the window and returned at least 5 or 6 times...and the stupid man didn't bother to really take a look at any of the evidence he brought..

i really hope i can get into the interview this time...and if i do i really hope i can hold my temper...lol..but at this point we have nothing to lose...i'm not expecting them to change their minds...but i'll find some way to make sure they know what's on my mind if they deny him..i'll call and call and email every single congressman in the US and do everything i can to see that things are changed at this consulate

Ok so the red flags that you see are:

1) The name issue

2) Your 14 year age difference

3) Your marriage the first time you met him in person when you visited for ___ weeks?

How many times have you visited since your marriage? How long have you been married now? Was your SO married before? You said you were married at least one time before.

The name issue should be easily resolved by showing your original birth certificate and the amened one after your grandparents changed your name. The other two are going to be more difficult to overcome. If I were in that situation I would present reasons as to why you wanted to get married right away as opposed to meeting another time or filing a K1. Financial reasons? Religious reasons etc. Also if you can get letters of support from your family and from his that would be helpful.

I strongly suspect that the age difference, and the short amount of time there is what gives them a reason to scrutinize your case more so than normal. But it does seem that the name issue is what set it over the edge. That proof should be easy enough to come up with. But make sure to keep thinking and adding proof of everything. When is the interview scheduled for? And will you be able to gather that proof in time?

Sounds to me like what you said the consulate is suggesting is that they do not believe the validity of a (your) marriage. So before the petition is actually sent back to the usa (which could take mos btw) gather up letters from your family and your husbands family and any friends you both have, stating that they are in support of your marriage. This will help support that your marriage is part of alot of peoples lives and you are a part of and accepted in each others family's. This is better than pictures. Be sure everyone includes a real phone # and email addy, in case they need to verify the real identities. send all these letters to the consulate by fax and snail mail asap. Do not email them, they won't open them for security reasons. call the consulate and ask to speak to the consulate cheif (if they still allow such requests) and also email the consulate telling them you are sending these documents and to delay the return of your petition. If you are able to speak to the consulate chief, tell him the same thing (be very calm and polite under all curcumstances) and hopefully the consulate chief will take a special interesyt in your case. If he does, he may ask you to address all letters to him directly for review. If you are very effective & lucky your husband will get another interview with someone else, perhaps even the chief himself (my husband was that lucky :) the consulate chief is a very nice person. My husband and I got our denial turned around in 30 days by implimenting this method in 2008. Best wishes to you.

i have no idea how to solve the name problem...i was 4 or 5 when my grandparents changed it and since the interview is tuesday i don't think i could get some sort of verification here in time....the CO had a problem with why my husband didn't know about this name and i forgot i had put it on the application so i never mentioned this name to him....he knows about it now tho...i explained it in detail...my husband told the CO that he didn't know about this name and CO tried to trick him by saying several times that i was married with this name and my husband told him no, i know how many times my wife was married...

thank you for the advice....i didn't know about not using the email...i already had my mother and husbands mother send emails of support to the consulate today...they also sent us copies to my email so we can print them out...both have names and addresses and valid phone numbers as well as the relationship to us....my husbands uncle and aunt and sister are each sending us actual written statements of approval, including how long they have known about our relationship and that they have met me and members of my family...i will try on monday to see if i can reach the consulate chief....if possible, could you pm me if you happen to know the name so that i can personally ask for him or leave a voicemail msg to him?

Also...would you happen to know the fax number to the consulate or how i can obtain it?

i've been married 2 times....the first was when i was around 22..he was physically abusive and the marriage didn't last long..i've tried hard to forget that huge mistake...lol...i have a hard time remebering what yr i married and divorced the jerk....and my 2nd husband died in 05...my husband knows all about both...

as for my birth cert....hmm...i was 4 or 5 when this name change occured...my birth certificate stills says my birth name...i did have a social sec. card issued in my grandparents last name tho...what i can't understand is that uscis should have been able to research this before they approved the petition so i'm not sure what the consulates prob. with this is except that my husband wasn't aware of this name

You say that your name was changed to your grand parents name, correct? Are they still alive? Could you get some sort of legal verification of their name? I.E. birth certificate, marriage certificate, drivers license, SS card?

I suggest this about 'the name' -

write up an affadavit letter about it.

take it to the Embassy, during American Citizen Services 'time' - get it notarized.

Whilst yer there (if before HIS second appointment ) ASK the ConOff about the casefile / petition / visa application.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !
Ya know, you can find the answer to your question with the advanced search tool, when using a PC? Ditch the handphone, come back later on a PC, and try again.

The consulate chief told me to send him (fax)whatever I thought would help my case and address it dirctly to him "consulate chief" guess thats his name  or what he wanted to be known as. Also put your case # at the top of each page you or anyone else sends. Be sure to send the original with hand written signature in ink. They need authenticity. remember this: if soomeone is going to send fake documents, they will not be able to have real signatures & phone numbers etc.... so send real contacts. In our case no one was contacted BUT they have ways to find out if the number is connected to the person assigned to it. In morocco they can find out anything...in morocco. I called every morning early (calif time) which was 3-5 pm morocco time. that was the time the employee's at the consulate told me the consulate general or chief took calls. Most times I got the recording. I did not leave messages there. wait till you get a live person and tell them you want to talk to the chief untill you get the chief. And email the same (it all helps) my husband hand delivered his families/friends actual letters (along with my family & friends fax'd e mailed copies) to the consulate and dropped them off (to be sure they were delivered). I in turn mailed my actual copies and husbands fax'd e mailed copies to the consulate express mail. We Bombarded them from all sides. The consulate see's so many cases of actual fraud constantly! They do theyre best to intercept them and the thing is alot of fraud looks like a real relationship and vise versa. You have to put up a fight as proof sometimes. It sucks but it's necessary I guess. I don't know whay they don't try lie detector tests or lic. therapists.... I swear it seems like some of theyre hired help at the consulate are just jaded old ladies who hate men (kidding) ok I am not helping now am I
