Edit My above post:

However, considering where they came from, I don't blame them as they are poor and don't know any better.

Once again check out the date.

In your opinion, does it make sense for the Philippines to open up their borders so that millions of Indonesians head to the Philippines? Will these extra poor consumers help the country, which is already suffering from poverty?

Would adding millions more people during the great depression have improved employment conditions? The thing all of these articles fail to discuss is the impact on salaries. There is no logical way in hell that 15 million extra unskilled/uneducated non-English speaking workers will help the middle class or America's poor in any way. None! Once again, it's the reason why no other first world country uses such practices.

Lets not even look at the ecological impact such a large flood of unskilled / uneducated workforce has had on the American landscape. Interestingly enough, when it comes to supporting illegal aliens, caring about mother earth goes out the window. Every single shitwhole dilapidated area in the entire Northern Virginia has a predominately Hispanic population. Coincidence? I think not. However, I don't blame them as they are dirt and considering where they came from, they just don't know any better. Nonetheless, should I just sit here and watch my area develop pockets of South American equivalent poverty stricken shitholes, all in the name of Kumbaya ideology?

That sort of idiocy is why I cannot get back to Aus fast enough and not have to see or deal with that #######.

I'm not sure about the immigration laws in the PH, but from what I've read and understood, it is fairly easy for expats to go and live there.

Managing immigration is an important issue, but I'm advocating that we can be most effective by ensure our trade agreements are fair to all parties, and will lift all boats. Second is to have available, work visas for low skilled jobs that employers can easily obtain if they can reasonably demonstrate a need for imported labor. Also, if we strengthened collective bargaining, we could add another watchdog over companies that might be tempted to hire undocumented workers.

like posting jobs in obscure publications and that are not typically read by the job seekers ... so when nobody applies (qualified applicant) ... the employer now has a reason to go offshore?

That's the thing, no issue with legal controlled immigration. After all, this is what has built countries like Australia, the US and Canada. All though, one must keep in mind that we live in a totally different world from the 'give us your tired your poor etc', therefore, a country has to look out for its own interests and people first; before it worries about Mexico and so on.

Thing about anyone of us going to the Philippines is that we will add $$$ value to the country, as we would bring wealth. A poor Indonesian will do nothing for the poor Filipinos. Which is my biggest pet-peeve here because certain people and organizations, like to group the legal PhD holders with the undereducated, unskilled and possibly criminal border crosses as one. Immigration should be an achievement, a process equitable for all to have a chance (shot) to access. Not something dominated by (restricted to) northern South Americans, who just so happen to also enter unlawfully and at their own leisure.

It's the equivalent of rewarding a F student who cheats and justifying it by saying, well since they're poor, they almost deserve it. Then allowing all of their family to do the same.

That certainly does happen. Someone was just hired from India under these exact same circumstances. Or is the company going to tell me that with California's unemployment at 10 or 11% they couldn't find anyone. Rubbish! They just wanted to hire someone like A... who would work for nothing.

there are firms that specialize in assisting companies to hire cheap labor via work visas ... why hire an unemployed USC when it's cheaper to retain a lawyer to assist the company in hiring someone at a much lower pay from offshore
