another story about frustration -- Mumbai Consulate

background info: CR-1 filed for my husband in India

The NVC got our DS-230 and other documents on Jan 8th... we had also sent a request sometime that week to expedite the case... it was approved (yay! -- or so we thought at the time)...

the NVC didn't review the things we sent them or schedule the interview... they just sent everything over to the consulate and told us that the consulate would do the scheduling and everything...

we were thinking once they recieved it, they would give us an interview date... get the medical done, the PCC, VFS,... bam bam... all done!

but nooo... in the back of my mind i thought there might be some confusion because we took a different route & normally the NVC gives the interview date...

so after tracking the shipment via DHL, i called the consulate -- the lady said it takes 15 days to process shipments and files, so told us to call back then... she was very rude when we even asked her what the next step would be normally... or what we should do... she didn't help us AT ALL... just kept repeating the we have to call back in 15 days... my husband and i both called 3-4 times and got the same lady... so frustrating!!

finally we were able to talk to somebody else... he said that we have to send in the Package 3 (?!? normally CR-1 visas dont have to)... but i understood why, since they were scheduling the interview... so he said even if you send it in now, you wont get a visa appt date till march!! (what was the point of getting it expedited when NVC would have probably given me the same date in March without all the hassle!!)...

we explained to him the reason for expediting it and everything... he said that if my husband got to the consulate the next day between a certain time and dropped off all the necessary documents, they could try for a Feb interview... My husband got there this morning and did EXACTLY that...

my husband got to the desk and talked to a lady (which he thinks was the same RUDE lady on the phone)... gave her the documents... and she said they'll let us know by mail in 10 days... arggg... (the reason we didn't go straight to the gentleman that we talked to was because of security issues, he couldn't give his name... so this is all just so hard without contacts in Mumbai or anything!!)

so the lady at the desk didn't even pay attention to the whole story my husband had said and explained about why we are dropping off the documents and who we had talked to... etc etc... she kept saying "10 days, 10 days, inform you by mail"... arggggg....

so this morning i woke up (after talking to my husband in the middle of the night once he got out of the consulate)... it was around 3:30 pm in India... i called the consulate to talk to somebody there... to make sure they got the package... and i kept getting a busy signal or as soon as the phone would ring it would say "good bye" and hang up on us... i kept trying for 45 mins... redial, redial, let me dial the numbers again from scratch, redial, SOMEBODY PICK UP!!!...

then it went to the electronic telephone thing "press 1, press 2,..."... which means the consulate is closed... i assume... and it would give me the option of speaking with someone...

no answer... and its friday... so now i have to wait till monday morning to call them again...

and my husband was so irritated after dealing with that lady who was SO RUDE... and wouldn't help us at alll...

just venting guys... any tips or anything...

i just want to be done with this process and have him with me

Interviews are unfortunately scheduled on the consulate's availability. Expediting may have helped you in bypassing NVC but if there no open CR-1 slots for February, then there's nothing they can do.

May I ask the reason for your expedite?

Try to email the consulate. Maybe you will get someone different (than the rude lady) that can help you or explain what's going on with your case.

one day down... can't wait till i can call monday morning!

btw the reason for expediting our case was because i have to undergo a medical thing... personal health issues... and i would like him here for that..

so i had sent the doctor's letter for proof... but i guess it is what it iss...

c'est la vie!

everything will happen when it is supposed to happen...
