Hello,

I am working on an H1 visa in NY and my first H1 cycle of 3 years is going to expire this year. My company has asked me to submit documents for renewing my visa. They will be again filing a petition for extending my H1 in March. But now I want to get married and apply for an H4 for my wife.

1. Should I apply for my wife's H4 before I apply for the extension OR

Should I wait till October after which I will have to get my H1 stamped too?

2. Do I need to be present at the visa consulate when my wife applies for the H4 visa or she carrying the documents is sufficient?

I would appreciate any guidance in this regards

Thank you
