We applied for N-400 in end of Dec in Phoenix...so far havent recd finger print notice ..although check is cleared and NOA is recd.

I checked the online status and it says below...

so seems like it could be that they have sent finer print notice...reading from other's experience....

Is this true ??? how long does it take for finger print notice to come ????

thanks

On January 25, 2010, we mailed a notice requesting additional evidence or information in this case N400 APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION. Please follow the instructions on the notice to submit the requested information. This case will be in suspense until we receive the evidence or the opportunity to submit it expires. Once we receive the requested evidence or information and make a decision on the case, you will be notified by mail. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address or call our customer service center at 1-800-375-5283.

A request for evidence is made when an application/petition is lacking required documentation/evidence (initial evidence) or the officer needs more documentation/evidence (additional evidence) to determine an applicant's eligibility for the benefit sought. We may send you a request for evidence at any stage of our review. The request will indicate what evidence or information is needed for us to fully evaluate your application or petition. The notice will explain where to send the evidence and will give the deadline for your response. Your application or petition will be held in

suspense during that time. If you receive a request for evidence and have questions about what you need to submit, you may call our National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283.

Yes, that letter seems to be the standard notification that they have mailed you your biometrics letter. You should be receiving it any day now :) . The 'information' they are requesting are your fingerprints.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

No, they have sent you a request for evidence for the case. THIS IS NOT A BIOMETRICS LETTER.

A service error has been occuring with the case status online, it says they issue a request for evidence when there never was one issued.

Raj, after its been 15 days of Jan 25th, call the NCSC 1-800-375-5283 and tell them you haven't received the request for evidence and its been more than 15 days. They will put in a request for you, and the office will contact you letting you know if it was a service error or when the request for evidence will be sent to you.

DO NOT DISREGARD THIS. THIS IS NOT REFERING TO A BIOMETRICS NOTICE, A DELIVERY OF BIOMETRICS NOTICE IS NOT UPDATED IN THE CASE STATUS.

Good Luck Raj!

---------------- Important Note ------------------------

For anyone that uses this forum as reference, they should not be into believing that this is simply the biometrics notice. If they did issue a actual request for evidence for the case, and you never responded to it then your case can be denied. Which would be a waste of money. So I woud llike to throw in a note for this topic, when its been 15 days from the date case status says a request for evidence was sent. Call the NCSC so they can put in a request to inquire about the request. Otherwise your case could be denied which means a appeal or file again.

Almost everyone who signed up for email updates, at least for the last six or seven months, have received "request for evidence" updates by email shortly after filing their N-400 applications, the dates of which happen to match the fingerprint notice letters. I do however agree that you should be careful about the advice given in this forum, as in any other forum. Most have been helpful to me.

What I hate about online case status and processing dates, the USCIS, ombudsman, and even you senator or congressman treat it like it's a golden rule engraved in stone and not to be questioned.

From those e-mails you have received, is there anyway to respond to them, specific information requested and where to send this information? The only valid information we ever received came from the USPS in the form of an envelop delivered to our mail box, the physical device located in front of our home. Real panic comes in when months go by and you don't receive anything, either good or bad.

USCIS has the option of using your previous fingerprints, claim they will if less then 15 months old. If they have any rule regarding whether they will use your previous prints or not, if you live across the street from your field office, they will use your previous one, but if you live several hundreds of miles away, they will darn sure contact you for a new set. With the latter you are notified by the USPS, but if they elect to use your previous set, not notified at all. Our N-400 hasn't changed since March of 2008, but my wife has been a USC for over a year and a half now.

Going nuts with our I-130 petition for an unmarried over 21 son, while the processing date have not been updated since October of 2009, the processing times have been changed anywhere from 40 to 90 months. Today, it's 60 months, last week it was 40 months, what in the hell are they doing? But three weeks ago it was 91 months!

Has to be a zillion posts here on online case status and whether your application was touched or not. With the N-400, only the service offices play with the online status, but the real stuff is done by your field office and they don't even have access to the online status.

We just went by whatever came in the mail by the USPS, and panicked when nothing came in, the latter occurred more than once, that is when it time to investigate.
