Petitioning siblings.

I couldn't find much in the GUIDES.

What forms and documents must the petitioner and the beneficiary submit for the initial sibling petition?

Copy of the petitioners naturalization certificate.

I-130

Copy of BCs of both petitioner and beneficiary.

G-325As for both petitioner and beneficiary?

Can bro/sis bring their wife/hubby/kids as derivatives?

Do kids age out if so?

PI takes about 22 years for sibling visas currently.

How far does the petition go before being put on hold for a visa number? Just initial approval and doesn't go thru the NVC process?

Where is the petition "held"?

Thanks in advance!

As far as I know for sibling petition you prove that you're related through the BC (it will show the same parents or mother or father). No G325 needed - says so in the I-130 instructions.

As the fourth preference category they can have derivative beneficiaries - spouse, children

Derivative Status: The immediate family members (i.e., unmarried children under the age of 21) of immigrants qualifying under each of these four preference categories are permitted to concurrently immigrate as well. (link from: http://www.visapro.com/Immigration-Articles/?a=960&z=40)

For the first submission you can expect NOA 1 and then nothing for several years until it is approved. It can also happen (rarely though) that you get NOA2 in shorter time but then the waiting begins for NVC and visa number to become available. The petition is in the meantime held at NBC - I think you get a CRIS update/notice that it has been moved there.

Best of luck!

For the sibling - cost of I-130 (currently at $355) then at the NVC stage the I-864 processing fee - I believe it is $60 or $70 and the Immigrant Visa Fee - currently $380.

The beneficiary will have to pay for their medical exam and the documents requested when the interview is scheduled - usually police certificate, birth certificate, marriage certificate.

Thanks you guys.

Looks like there is no way my nieces and nephews will be eligible as they'll be over 21 by the time the petition becomes "ripe".

Bottomline is I doubt I'll be around when bro and sis would get here. My wife will have to deal with it.

I'll just get the ball roilling.

Makes it easier not having to deal with G325As or any original documents for the initial petition.

$355 isn't that bad. No doubt it will go up I thought it was $400 plus $70 when it gets to NVC. I "guess" $470 isn't a constant and "could" go up during the LONG wait.

I'm not sure about that tho. "Maybe" it stays the same???
