I am still waiting on someone to tell me which Visa all of these Hispanics used to enter the country, since I cannot judge their status based on appearance of course.

No, you can't tell judge status based on appearance and neither can we tell you what their status is based on nothing but city-data metrics.

Since they entered the US legally, the rest of the world would like to know which Visa class they used. IBC & IFJ are the only two that come to mind. Correct me if I am wrong of course. However it's 1.5 years now and I am still waiting.

Translated for convenience.

De quelque manière qu'it' ; s 1.5 an maintenant et moi attends toujours.

Steven you are always going to Bat for Illegals and African Americans, always taking a stand for the Down trodden like a highly Principled Liberal.

But when I ran your city "Forest city California" to see how many illegals you might have on your block

I was disappointed

Forest City has so few Hispanics at all .....and hardly any African Americans too. :bonk:

Every time I have been to the Golden-State I found an ample amount of Hispanics and from what we are told, more are moving there every year... but not to Forest City.

Races in Lake Forest:

White Non-Hispanic (66.7%)

Hispanic (18.6%)

Other race (7.5%)

Two or more races (4.2%)

Vietnamese (2.4%)

Filipino (2.2%)

Black (1.8%)

Do Gays even feel welcome?

The count seems a little low. (We are talking about california).

Likely homosexual households (counted as self-reported same-sex unmarried-partner households)

Lesbian couples: 0.3% of all households

Gay men: 0.3% of all households

Oh you've caught me on that one, Danno. I race my batmobile right out of a hidden tunnel at the edge of my heavily fortified town when I need to get out into the real world. We have quotas here and right now, we're at full capacity for frumpy white men who are afraid of the color brown and all it's shades. We could put you on a waiting list, right behind Peter Griffin.

Bush certainly ignored Wisconsin a couple of years ago when the entire southerner half of the state was flooded. And rightfully so, Wisconsin was a blue state in this last election. He did take most of our National Guard for his interest in Iraq, so we didn't even have that for additional protection and rescuing. Think he also forgot about New Orleans.

To make things even worse here, my fellow Wisconsinites went democratic for state government, maybe in retaliation because of Bush. Here, the republicans always have been more fair and honest, the kind of democrats are the kind you find in Chicago. So much for a two party system. After Doyle, really doubt if the democrats would stand a chance in the next election. But then we would have a republican state government with a democratic federal government, screwed again.

It's not easy to show mercy toward people that build homes ten feet below sea level or right on top of a major geological fault. But do these people actually want help? Not really, they just want money.

The article sure has a lot of I don't knows in it. It also fails to address any of the costs associated with illegal aliens. Finally, after a handful of I don't know, it ends with a broad-brush statement of immigration is a good thing because "you get their children".

Now lets see if those commenting like Patricia Cortes would have any bias, she's from Columbia. What she is really trying to say is that illegal immigration is good for Latinos.

The problem with most 'scandalous' folks that share this ideology regarding immigrants is that they group all immigrants together and falsely class someone who enters with a PhD as the same as someone who jumps the boarder.

nothing more in this thread is worth reading.

i abhor journalists who mistakenly use 'immigrants' in lieu of 'illegal aliens' .

F*cktards.

except for this quote.

That's it Steve... I "out" you as a "Do as I say, not as I do" Lib and you respond back with a pic of a fat kid?

Well I find we are all hypocrites in one fashion or another so I sympathize with you but I must admit I was a little surprised as I was sure you were living in this multi ethnic hood.

Furthermore, disingenuously assume someone against illegal aliens is against all immigrants period. Nothing further from the truth.

Yeah. The pro-illegal-immigration crowd (ironically on a legal immigration board) likes to blur that line.

Speaking of my area I can tell you that the vast majority of hispanics that live here were actually born here. We also have a large Puerto Rican population, who are US citizens by birth so they don't need a visa. The rest of the latino immigrants who aren't illegal are usually on work visas (my uncle sponsored a few that work for him as do some other business owners) and I also know of a good amount of Salvadorian immigrants (like my brother in law) who were let in on asylum. There is also a visa/greencard lottery that I've heard about, but not really sure how that works.

With that being said, I'm not naive, I know that there are a great amount of latino immigrants in this country and that the majority are from Mexico and are not legal. I think our immigration policies need some serious work but I always come back to the same idea... if the Americans weren't offering work to illegal immigrants, they wouldn't be here. IMHO one of the most important things we should be doing is monitoring how our own business owners conduct their business. If there aren't jobs available, people won't come, period.

I will always stick by this though... grouping together an entire population of people based upon one commonality - language - is rediculous. Just because my husband speaks Spanish and has brown skin doesn't mean he's an illegal immigrant. Just because I'm white with blonde hair doesn't mean I'm not hispanic. I find it to be incredibly stupid how much of this racial stereotyping goes on and how little people really know about the people they are interacting with.

I don't want to argue your other points, or even argue at all - but -

it's a known thing 'around south border states' that skin color is some indication of 'illegal alien' status.

note - I say 'some' - and not 'clearly indicative'.

But I digress. Holy Cr@pazoola, Batman - CHICAGO ? #######? There are illegal aliens in Chicago ? How the #### did that happen?

Well, lets see - some coyotes bring some Mexican illegal aliens cross the border in Texas, then shift a bit to a 'hispanic bus line' at Laredo. Most of these bus lines do stop in Chicago .

19% hispanic is so few?

Those are the 'documented' ones - yes?

The 'illegal aliens' and 'undocumented workers' are never counted in the survey, hence the stats are skewed.

I don't buy that either seeing as in there are tons of hispanic US citizens in those states as well and not to mention, chicanos that have been there for YEARS.

Everyone's entitled to their viewpoints and all, but treating someone like sh*t just because they aren't white and could possibly, somehow, have the appearance of being an illegal immigrant due to that fact is pretty freakin stupid if you ask me.

I think racism sux.

Hey, you are spot-on regarding who is responsible for illegal immigration and its rapid growth in the States. I don't blame the illegal aliens, not even for a second, since anyone of us in their shoes would do the exact same thing for ourselves and our families. The reason why nothing is being done with immigration is because on one hand, you have business owners who support being slave drivers and exploiting third world labor. Then on the other hand you have a group of folk (no names) who falsely assume that we can allow million of illegals aliens to enter with zero impact on the economy or environment, because 'that is how we did it in the 20's to the 30s'. That couldn't be further from the truth, hence who no other first world endorses such an attitude in 2010. What they do support is legitimate and equitable immigration controlled by them. Equitable meaning no one country or region dominating their immigration system.

Since I pay my fair share of taxes here and have zero say, I want the money to be spent on improving America and Americans; rather than spent spoon-feeding foreigners or their anchor-babies.

Well yes and no, I have never guessed wrong when it comes to determining where someone is born, if they are first generation or born overseas. I have traveled to enough countries to realize that people definitely look (particularly act) diffidently, therefore, you can determine who is from where.

Well considering the US has zero blue-collar visas, I find it hard to believe they were sponsored. Not to mention, numerous South American nations are no longer eligible for participation in the lottery visa. Over the past 10 years, school districts have had a massive influx of ESOL Hispanic students. Yet, except marriage based visas, there is no such visa available for the uneducated, unskilled and non-English speaking folk to use. Certainly no visa for the 15,000,000 million increase. The process is quite simple, get you azz to the US at any costs and then have you child there. Not only will they receive a foot into America but they will also access taxpayer funded education and receive a range of benefits in various states; including foodstamps and reduced rent.

Lets also not forget that the US already had an amnesty that let in millions before.
