My fiance and I submitted the i-129f application back in early December and we're still waiting for NOA2. I presume this time line is normal, but I have a quick question while we wait.

Does anyone know a cheap way to ship personal belongings internationally? It seems that paying an 50/bag on an international flight is probably the cheapest, but I'm sure there will be more that needs to be shipped beyond what a single person can manage. We will be shipping from Dublin, Ireland to Michigan.

Any suggestions are appreciated!

It depends on what you will be shipping, and how much.

- One option, if you are planning to visit eachother a couple of times during the process, would be to just use all your bagage allowance and bring stuff over as you go.

- If you have books, Ireland has a special rate to ship books: http://www.anpost.ie/AnPost/MainContent/Bu...sting+Books.htm

- If you have furniture or a sizeable amount of household goods that you don't mind being separated from for 2-4 months, you can have them shipped via sea freight. Not horribly expensive, but not worth it for IKEA type furniture. This type of shipping goes by volume, not weight, so don't ship a cheap duvet :) We used this for our out-of-season clothes, knick-knacks, kid's toys, some antiques and cutlery and crockery I wanted to keep, as well as a few paintings.
