Hello VJ!

I'm writing for a friend who isn't very PC literate. She is Pinay, living here as permanent resident status, married a kano, now she want to get her daughter (3 years old) here from Manila.

Before she married, she applied for an I-130 last February 2009 for her daughter. Last month she got a notice that the petition was approved. What are her next steps?

Q: what is the timeline from this point?

Q: can her sister bring the child?

I read somewhere these things take multiple years? True/False?

Please help!

Thanks for answering me. I guess I still don't completely understand. Even though the petition was approved she still will be waiting another (3) years?

If (3) years is the case to get the VISA do you recommend having her American husband file for the petition instead? Would it help to get the VISA quicker if the US Husband filed?

If the Husband filed what happens to the orginal petition filed by the mother before she was married?

Thanks again
