Now this is a thread after my own heart! Dunkin Donut french vanilla coffee with double cream and one sweetner! A good US alternative when Tim Horton's isn't available. Dunkin Donut's new Orange Cranberry muffins are really good!

:o next thing we know you'll tell us starbucks is good coffee too!

:P

At the Texaco Multi-service 'round the corner, they have flavored coffees.

Normally I don't go for flavored coffees

but this one is incredible - is called 'Mexican Cream'

Oh My God...

Usually - when I make coffee in a carafe -

I'll put in the stuff to make a full pot,

but pull out the carafe when it's half full.

and THAT, my friends, is ROCKET FUEL -

it's super strong, and not bitter.

Other times, I use a a french press..

I got to be a bit of a 'cheap snob' last year, bought a 25 pound bag o beans,

and used a hot air popcorn popper machine to roast them.

It's crazy - roast em, grind em, brew it all, within the same 40 minutes :D

I used to repatriate espresso machines at garage sales :D but after moving to China for work in 2002, I gave up trying to keep the collection. (was about 5, as I remember - who the h3ll needs 5 espresson machines? )

There's a jewish deli maybe 10 minutes away - I try to go on Thursday mornings, meet up with some business geeks there - this place makes really good onion bagels. I gave up on Einstein's ages past, I couldn't handle the kids behind the counter (a sure sign I became a cranky curmudgeon ).

mmmm onion bagels at a Jewish deli... heaven. :star:

Now I'm thinking about pastrami sandwiches with cole slaw and a kosher dill pickle on the side.

Why did you have to mention Jewish delis??? It's 11pm and they're all closed!!

a coffee drink ;)

(need 2 1 liter carafes or cylinders to make this)

in the first cylinder:

make 12 ounces of coffee.

put in 12 ounces of milk

4 tablespoons of sugar

then pour the contents of the first cylinder into the 2nd cylinder, about 2 to 3 feet distance between the two (practice over a sink first)

then pour it back into the first cylinder.

Do it again, about 8 to 10 times.

This makes FOAM. Then in the empty cylinder, put in some crushed ice. Pour the contents into the empty cylinder.

Any Indians or Tamil speakers around? Is a variation on Teh Tarik (Pulled Tea ) -

but is with coffee, served COLD.

YUM. I'll make this maybe 2 or 3 times a week, instead of having a dessert. You can vary the sugar amount.

Sigh...I miss Dunkin. Where I lived in NY there was one every half mile it seemed. Now I have to drive 2.5 hours to Dallas if I want any.

Don't usually drive to Dallas just to get coffee, but when we do go there I stock up. :D

All we have around here is Starbucks. I really don't like their coffee, but I really hate paying 3-4 more times for it as well. So I just don't. ;)

We also try to buy whatever kinds of German coffee we can get...that is my favorite. Delicious!

Bite your tongue, Charles! :D Pikes Place blend is about the only Starbucks Coffee I can get down without getting severe indigestion afterwards.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

I like to get to Katz's Deli in Houston - They NEVER CLOSE. If I'm coming out of 'weekend security audit' at a data center at 4 AM, I go straight to Katz's, get me a rueben. reuben ?

I don't like Starbucks regular coffee - but when I was in Peru it was the only thing you could get that was American sooooo....

I started liking caramel frappuccinos and caramel macchiatos. They are pretty good. However, I have to agree... wayyy too expensive.
