How long, typically, between Interview and K-1 Visa issuance for Montreal?

I'm the USC, and I was thinking about driving up for the interview, packing up the car while waiting on the visa, and then driving home once we got it. My maximum timeframe for that would be about 2 weeks, and it's 3 days of driving in each direction. (I'm in Houston, she's in Toronto) So we're talking 5 or 6 business days worth of window between the interview and when I'd have to head home (with or without a passenger). Are visas typically (if approved, of course) received in that kind of timeframe?

Thanks!

Three days driving there, another to drive to Montreal (assuming you don't want to immediately get there and take off), interview day (drive back that same day to Toronto), five-seven business days for visa issuance, three day drive back...

It could be gotten in that time frame, and it could also not... it's hard to say. Typically, we all received ours within five days.. but that's not to say that there aren't some who waited two weeks between the interview and having the visa in hand.

Does it matter what kind of envelope you give the consulate? I have seen something about XpressPost and then another envelope that seemed to have "next day service". Which one is the fastest, what exactly is it called, and where can the envelope be purchased?

I used the Priority mailer for next day shipping and had mine in hand 3 days after the interview (had my interview on the monday and had it in my hands on the thursday). I got mine the same day as the people who had interviewed the previous thurs/friday did. This is all providing that the consulate sends it out immediately though, at some points its looked like they send it all out in batches. Or that CanadaPost doesnt screw up.

It was the largest sized regional priority mailer, and I bought it at the canada post location in my town, but you should be able to get it at shoppers drugmart or rexall.

Keep in mind, Mtl may not ship out the visa that day or the next!

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
