129F form expiration date worry

Hi--I'm just getting all the forms filled for the initial application package, and I notice that the 129F form I've got expires on the 31st of January. Does anybody think this will be a problem of any kind, if say I get it in the mail before that date but then when they receive it it's an "expired" form?

Should I wait for the new version just so as not to mess with Murphy's Law, in the sense that it Should be okay but there might be potential room for trouble here, if they wanted to make some?

Thanks,

Kathryn

You'll probably be happy to know that the I-129f is already (technically) expired and has a rev.date of "Form I-129F (Rev. 07/30/07) Y" (found on the bottom-right of these forms).

USCIS's web site even instructs that an earlier version Rev. 11/24/06 is even acceptable. The date you're referring to is the OMB date (long story, short; this isn't the form's expiration date). The form you got from USCIS's web site is the correct and most recent version, so you're fine.

Ah, I see that. Thanks! I find that when you're conditioned to be paranoid (perhaps justifiably) with this process, you think far harder than maybe you should about each blank space and slightly confusing word choice on the forms, and the problems just invent themselves in an addled brain.

They should have situation-specific OCD pills for people undergoing this process, people who are usually confident about their detail-oriented skills but then go to pieces when filing the K1.

That is to say, I will be back with more nervous questions.

Thanks again.

You mean you didn't get your complimentary VJ-OCD med-pack when you signed up? (maybe they quite doing that...) :o

Not to worry, by the time you get used to the forms, the lingo etc - you'll be US citizen...

OMG, I laughed out loud at this - I said the exact same thing to the fella the other day, when I was wondering the same thing about the form. It sucks being so out of control of your future...

Dunno if you've seen 'Up In The Air' but I actually WANT this to happen remotely. The USCIS receives a request to petition and sends you a link to download software with a unique code. after the fee is paid electronically. You download some kind of interactive document software and upload all your docs with electronic signature. They review it and if they have any queries, they mark the documents with the RFE. You can then submit any extra documentation and if need be, they can interview you via webcam. Once approved, it all gets forwarded to the embassy at a click of a button and you can use a real-time calendar to book your appointment, similiar to choosing seats on a flight. You then just turn up with the original documents for them to certify their authenticity, give your biometrics and leave your passport. Bob's your uncle. Paperless processing!

Oh well, I can only dream....
