Hi,

Im Australian and my fiance is American.

I use pre-paid (pay as you go) with Vodafone here in Oz.

I recently purchased my fiance an unlocked E63 Nokia cell phone. He use to be on a plan/contract. But it was costing him too much to rcve calls from me.

So we have chosen to go with pre-paid.

Can someone please advise a cheap cell phone company to go with. It must be pre-paid/pay as you go...NO contracts!

Preferably NO cost for him to rcve incoming calls from Australia or the U.S.

I have done a bit of research, but i dont seem to be having much luck.

This it what im after;

* Free incoming International/Domestic calls ---- or only a connection fee.

* Data --- SIM card that will allow him to access the internet on his cell.

* No contracts/plans

We both use Skype alot, but with the time difference we find its hard to meet on Skype unless its the weekend.

Main thing is for him to rcve incoming domestic/international calls for FREE.

Thank you all in advance :)

The US has in my opinion terrible mobile phones, the costs are nothing short of robbery next to what I had with O2 back home. Over here I use Virgin (I don't have a SIM Card lol) you can topup buy minutes, data and texts. $20 gets you a couple hundred minutes per month $5 gets 200 texts (yes they charge extra for international texts lol). I don't use any data as I just need a basic phone. Google Virgin Mobile USA and see what they have you might get something there?

An idea might be to get the prepaid phone and Vonage which all in inc taxes costs close to $40 a month. I set it up so it'll forward to my mobile. I've also setup a virtual number back home so the person on the other end can call a local number over there and it'll ring at my home then in turn bounce out to my mobile. All in all it works perfectly for me. Although I should mention a few times while I had cable internet and Vonage it wasn't good at the weekends. I switched to DSL and it's clear, no lag and no lost calls perfect.

I don't know if that would work for you. It's that or maybe find a good deal on phone cards? I'm sure others on here will have a lot of good suggestions!

Check out Metro PCS, they have some cheap unlimited call plans. I think you can go pre-paid too.

I bought the wife a trac-phone (Net10). 15 dollars a month for 150 minutes. She can reload at any Walmart, etc. She likes it. Sansumg flip phone came with 300 minutes, and 60 days service for 40 bucks.

that is what I have... you know you can sign up at the NET10 site and set it up so that 150 minutes are added automatically every month....

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."
